Great job with your kit!<br>
I'm only going to echo everyone else about your shoulder bells. I also have an ATA kit and have had the same problem, offsetting the snap inside your bell is the way to go.<br>
Now get out there and troop!

Great job troopers!

Hi fellow troopers, thought I would share the troop we did at my kids school today. It was a LOT of fun!
Cheers,
Scott
Date:4th May 2016Venue:Fairview Heights State School, Toowoomba.Time:9am-1pmMission:To add some fun and Imperial awesomeness to the school's May 4th Dress Up Day.Trooper Attendance:RBG: 90579 - Scotty33 - TK33827 - Bolt_2112 - TKSupport Crew / Guest Trooper Attendance:School staff, plus Scotty33's wife.Details:Bolt arrived at Scotty33s house right on time, and we headed over to the school for recon. Upon arrival it was evident that the place was full of scavengers from Jakku, they had all gone to a lot of effort, particularly when it came to their hair, they all looked fantastic! Our early fears of being outnumbered were allayed sometime later when we realised the sheer force of shiny white TKs the school had been building. More on that later. This was a fantastic troop, even though the rough idea in our heads didn't quite happen. We managed to visit every class (but possibly we might have missed one, still not sure about that). The kids were all really well behaved, and it was really encouraging to see the teachers dressing up, happy to be arrested and handcuffed and being very welcoming to us interrupting their lessons. The idea of a 'lunchtime patrol' with the 30 or so kids that we thought might dress up didn't happen when there were well over 100 costumed kids gathered outside the library. Instead we did group shots like the TK one above. The library teacher was stoked with our efforts and we are already discussing ways to improve on it next year. Most importantly, the principal was happy and even mentioned us at parade in the afternoon.Rest assured, the future of Star Wars is in good hands with these younglings!Big thanks to Bolt for coming and putting in a solid 4 hour troop!Charity Funds Raised:Due to some other recent fundraisers and the Mothers Day stall this week, no funds were asked for, they are looking at a gold coin donation for next year.Injuries / Malfunctions:From one certain camera angle with my arm in a certain position, some of a label on my undersuit is visible. Didn't realise this until looking at the photos, it will be fixed by Dreamworld.Public Incidents:I think I hit a girl in the head with my blaster (not hard), and one boy hid under the table, apart from that all good.Mission Status:Success!- 3

Also, don't forget, it will probably take you anywhere from a few months to a year to actually build your costume once you get your kit, so you probably won't be that far off 18 by the time it is all finished. But best bet is to do as advised above, and get in contact with your local garrison.

Congratulations mate, really happy to hear that, well done!

Just to add my 2 cents here, not about money or anything, but to me a big, big advantage of being an officer instead of a Jawa is that you can wrangle in it.Alright, so I'm getting a little heat about my choice for having a Jawa as a backup to my Trooper. "Another tall Jawa" yadda yadda yadda.
Financially it was the right move although a lot of people are saying crew-woman etc is cheaper costing around $200, or officer even.
This kinda puzzles me as I spent the last 3 months looking at all the pieces and builds for the Officer and the cost of the hats, belts, etc etc etc and there is NO way I could do that in $200 Canadian. I'm not sure if people are buying their gear at the BiWay or where they are looking.. anyway.. with all the comments I'm going to look at it again as another build.. but I'm still getting my Jawa.. I like em.. so
If you know of CHEAP approvable items for an Officer or crew-woman than let me know. Thanks

Hey mate, in regards to the shoulder bells, I would wait until you have the chest armour ready to go before cutting anything off them. The less black showing the better.
Also, it looks like you might be able to drop that bicep a bit closer to your elbow.
Good luck!
-
if you dont mind could you post how you have yours connected? it would help me get a idea, also would you do a strap on the front and back of the thighs or just the front?
Sure here you go as I said it makes it a little awkward getting boots and shins on because the thighs aren't held up by anything until the body is on, but it works well.
EDIT: sorry for the out of focus photo!
-
It won't be a 'pity pass' mate, you've worked hard on this and it looks really good, you should be proud of your efforts.<br>
I have my thighs connected to snaps just inside the ab plate, it's a little awkward to put on, but it works fine.<br>
Good luck!

Congratulations mate, good work!

Hey mate,<br>
Given both seem to open up towards the top, it might pay to check if your straps are the same length, it kind of looks like the top ones are longer. The bottom of both sides looks ok, it's just the top that looks out.<br>
getting close!

I had the same issue with the Humbrol paint. Not sure if it was because it was old or I didn't mix it enough. I bought another tin, mixed it up really well and all was good.

Great idea for a thread Tim. I've been approved since November 2015 and being a member of the 501st is easily the best thing I've done.<br><br>
If only I knew:<br>
Just how vital wranglers are. Everyone says it, everyone will tell you, but when you are doing it, you might feel like you aren't actually doing anything much. For me, it's not until you get that helmet on, or just can't quite reach that snap to do it up that you realise just how important wranglers are.<br><br>
Oops;<br>
So many! My main build thread over on the Redback Garrison is an ode to how many mistakes can be fixed. Mostly they were the result of me acting like a bull at a gate and not reading enough.<br><br>
A funny thing happened on the way to the Death Star:<br>
I've shared this before, but I think it's pretty funny. My wife and kids were watching me at one of my first troops when a lady came up and put her arm around me for a photo. My 10 year old daughter turned to my wife and said "Mummy, you told us we couldn't get mad when Dad played with other kids, so you can't get mad when he plays with other women.'<br>
Shout outs:<br>
I was incredibly lucky to have Sly there to call on. Every PM I sent him (and there was a lot!), was answered quickly and helped me through a heap of places. Also to Phantom the Redback GML who was very patient with me.<br><br>
Cheers,<br>

Welcome to FISD!

Welcome to FISD! Some parts of the helmet need to be painted, the vocoder and the frown. It is up to you whether you paint the tears, traps and tube stripes yourself. there is also the option of the DaveM decals which replicate a hand painted look.

Looking good mate!<br>
The only suggestion I would make is to try to square the corners of your teeth a little bit more, but overall, fantastic job, keep it up!
