  2. Best of luck Scott. I did my Amsterdams and was very pleased with the results. Had to resist wearing them until I was comfortable they were dry.

A little bit of Angelus goes a LONG way. Try not to glob it on. Instead of frog tape, i used the 3m painters tape. did great. Any bleed I painted with flat black model paint.

I stripped with acetone. It did alright with the towels. You might have better luck with the deglazer.

The tulip paint was a bit of a pain. I did 4 coats and saw minimal results. ended up using the Angelus on the elastic in about 6 light coats. (opening the elastic most i could and packing paint in lightly).

    Haven't used a sealer yet.....probably should......

  3. Probably way too short to use on a Disney, they fit a 1:1 stock. It looks decent in pics without size references, but it's a tiny dart gun

True I was looking for it this weekend. Couldn't find it anywhere.

  4. My decal guy did an outstanding job with the tube stripe decals. Gave him the CMYK code for French blue and here's the final result. Went with the "hand painted" look on them. Subtile

Here is the inside. Top is padding from an old motorcycle helmet with some ACH/MICH pads to help fitment on the forehead, back of head, and cheeks

Garter belt system for thigh armor pieces.  Riveted snaps to a tactical duty belt. Elastic snaps to thigh pieces.

Plastic hand guards for normal trooping with black nomex gloves.  Ordered a pair of Latex guards with rubber gloves from Karin for certification and the fancy trooping.

Canvas belt from TKittell and Holster from Darman. OUTSTANDING work by both of these individuals on the craftmanship of their products. Drop boxes have back to them both attached and closed magnetically. incase i want to put things in their, you never know. Obviously something that wont be affect by a rare earth magnet.

Waiting on 2" Elastic so I can attach the chest and back plates, then attach shoulder pieces.

  5. This seems like a good option, if you can get it working right. You have the static breaks, decently loud, and you can output it to smaller speakers. only thing i would do is make the PTT button longer and route it through the sleeve to the glove. heck, I can even probably power it from my usb battery as with my fans.

Been checking out some videos of it in action on youtube, pretty good IMO

  6. If there are any recycling places near you or you or someone you know has an old desktop or laptop computer, you can canabalise the fans from them, also if you have kids or know someone with kids you can cut the battery pack out of an old toy, a dremel is great for this, lots of toys often have a little switch on them near the battery compartment that can be used too.

Just thought I would mention also using heat shrink tubing is much better and tidier than electrical tape around the wires, you can get it from an electrical shop, automotive shop or online, just get a size bigger than the wire, cut off enough to cover the joins, remember to slide it well back from where your soldering, solder the wire, slide it over the join and rub the soldering iron over it to shrink it over the cable, electrical tape is ok short term but it tends to unravel over time leaving sticky glue everywhere.

A hot glue gun is also invaluable for sealing over wires and tidying things up and also fixing to your lid, watch the heat though and have a damp rag on standby.

This is the exact concept i was thinking. My daughter has a couple toys she doesn't use. I'm going to find a switch from one of those. I ended up going with a bit bigger battery, PNY T6600 ($25 bucks at best buy, Can charge a phone 4 times over)  that has 6600 mAh with 2 USB ports, one puts out 2.4 amp and the other is 1A. I hooked up a ohmmeter to a stripped USB cable, showing about 7.3 - 7.5 v output on each.
