  1. I am sure I am just missing an obvious post somewhere but what paint did you use for the Ab to kidney rivets?
  2. Any recommendations for fitting the ab and posterior? how tight am I looking for against my body?
  3. You are the best mate. Thanks for the patience and help!
  4. I had looked at the photos prior but was having difficulty confirming that it would be ok but it looks like based on your right side the ends both go a little over so I should be fine, correct?
  5. In order to fit my skinny arms after I trim the back of my biceps wil; not the same length (the top end on the inside is higher than the outside is this a problem or will that fact that the cover strip covers this be fine just like the forearms?
  6. Here is some of his info (only posting things publicly available) user name: tk2092 501st page: http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=7528&costumeID=95 FB sale group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/174248586293456/ Store: http://www.fnarmour.com/
  7. Posting some info I got from digging around. I commented on that thread after following it a few days and it got locked less than an hour later.
  8. Something does not feel right and I can not let it go. Peter O'tool. That is not a common name and I have never once seen it without an e at the end (Irish family on my dad's side). Other than the famous actor Peter O'toole it's rarer than most, the name was also being thrown around like a shield so I did some digging. Supposedly Peter owns a vacuum forming plant in Thailand except when I found the supposed man . https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011423030121 He is supposedly from and still lives in Ireland. Why does he have a pool vacuum forming plant in Thailand? Add that to a Facebook page so bare of photos and personal detail other than Star Wars stock images that I am only left to suspect foul play I proceeded to gather all I could the website that was on O'tool's page http://www.fnarmour.com The same images are used consistently over and over across the facebook group, Whitearmor and the store. there is no mention of the seller and the contact page only lets you enter your info with no direction to where it is going. Went so far as to look up every registered Peter O'tool in Ireland. http://www.11890.ie/search/search-results.aspx?who=Peter%20O%27toole&where=. There are none in Carlow. And more strangely yet none even listed as "O'tool" only "O'toole". Here are photos from the closed facebook group. http://imgur.com/a/tkvTd I don't have the skill to say if this is recasting but something in all this is off.
  9. As a piggy back on to Stratcat. I have a little uncertainty about the butt connections I have read the build thread countless times but seeing as I usually learn best from watching or doing instead of the written word, I thought it be best to ask. this is the diameter that feels right but do the butt connections look flush enough to apply the cover strip?
  10. Hey guys, Ok so I have a little uncertainty about the butt connections I have read Tony's build thread countless times but seeing as I usually learn best from watching or doing instead of the written word, I thought it be best to ask. first off I plan to keep the front and most likely back return edge I like the look and it actually feels good as of now though they will need some finish. I am aware return edges are not screen accurate. this is the diameter that feels right but do the butt connections look flush enough to apply the cover strip? measure twice cut once.
  11. The size I currently have just feels so loose but I was unsure if it was suppose to feel loose to a certain extent.
  12. You are probably right, but a combination of Midwest nice and being an overthinker leads me to ask.
  13. Thanks guys. Been on the forums off and on for a year but realized it was a question I had never formally asked anyone. I appreciate the warmth and info. -Mitchell
  14. Hey guys. I was wondering what the general etiquette for using other members first name is. I commonly see people use first names over screen names which I am more than fine with when my name is being used but I always feel hesitant to use others real names without having talked to that person previously. Is the assumption that once that information is public anyone is allowed to call that member by their first name? This all may seem silly but I always prefer to ask ahead of time rather than unknowingly offend. Thanks guys
  15. I am aware that you would have to remove the return edges for centurion but I prefer the appearance and feel with the return edges so I plan to keep them for this armor. I have for instance also traded brackets for snaps due to preference over screen accuracy.
  16. Yep ANOVOS, I actually have been using ukswrath for my whole build and while he does an excellent job with how to remove material and sizing for his arm I just wanted to know what the variance in the wiggle room was in general/what is supposed to feel right because my arms are so much skinner. Thank you for the information!
  17. What is the consensus of snaps vs brackets? what I seem to hear on the forums is that brackets are more accurate but snaps are less likely to cause wear over time.
  18. Hey guys. This may be common knowledge to the pros but I can not for the life of me find a good explanation of how your armor should actually fit on you. I am aware it should not be tight against your skin but how much wiggle room are we actually looking for? And how does that vary from part to part. I am terrified of removing too much material. Here are some example pictures of my left forearm if you could give me a sense from these it would be greatly appreciated. Or if you need any other pictures to help give me advice let me know.
  19. In an attempt to save funds, How many Inner strapping Line 24 snaps do we actually need?
  20. So I am getting set up to start progressing. I am doing fittings but I am unsure what fitting size is actually correct. what is the tolerance I am looking for? How much space do I need for strapping and such? pictures of left forearm.
  21. Good to know, are both equally sturdy? And on a different subject, what is the easiest part of the armor to match seams and apply cover strips?
  22. What are the advantages and disadvantages you have experienced for bra hooks vs velcro?
  23. Should we be concerned at all with cracking when cutting with the dremel?
  24. I also had a little free time last weekend and found a 5$ pair of Chelsea boots that aren't accurate but give a good impression and will likely be used until I am finished with the rest of the armor at which time I will get a pair of TKboots. Amazing what a little leather paint can do!
