  1. What's the difference in Wattage for the Aker units? (besides weight I guess)... 10 watt (1506) vs 12watt (1505)? Does anyone use anything more than 12 watts? Which provides the best sound?
  2. I'm a complete noob to boots...and not just to boots for trooping. As a native Texan, I've never worn boots! Shame on me, right? Which boot company should I go with? TK Boots? Imperial Boots? Other? What are the real differences besides where they're coming from / price. I hear one maker uses more genuine leather than the other. Is this a good thing for trooping?...are they easy to maintain/ do they need special care? Thanks, Yall!
  3. Wow thank you! ... and Wow I must be blind. How did I not see that Time to dive into more research! Thanks for the encouragement!
  4. So I recently talked to a TK at a local Con and he may have convinced me to take on the challenge of doing a Doopy (or similar resin kit). He says it will likely be more accurate and cost effective than buying something pre-made / those hyperfirms. I think the idea of the kit is growing on me as I am reading more and more build threads. One of my biggest fears of doing a kit was needing to dremel / screw / cut / glue etc as I've never done that before. However, seeing as to how I'd need to do this kind of thing anyway for the Anovos kit... I figured why not. ... and why not purchase the tools and such since I'd likely be reusing them anyway for the suit / other things around the house? So with all this researching - I've never come across the list of gear / material you'd need. Things like a rotary kit, drill bits, files, sand papers, facemask, "green stuff" ... the list goes on. DLTR: I think I want to do a doopy kit. It might be more accurate / affordable and a good learning experience. Where do I get it and what are the recommended finishing kits? Bells/Whistles (Since they dont come with the rail for the scope and such) Edit: Is this the correct link / kit? What kind of gear should I start gathering that'll be best for the E-11 / TK Kit / other builds? Does RPM / Voltage matter? Does higher matter for what we're doing? Thank you!
  5. Gonna be following this one closely ... I'm a new Anovos and potential Doopys builder. Where do we get a link to purchase the kit? (and finishing kit)
  6. Someone posted pictures of theirs that they purchased from Diamond State Props. I'm reposting here for reference as to what the final product will look like. The makers recommend that the blaster be painted with a metallic/silver coat before putting on the Black Matte and Sealing coat. According to the prop makers, the blaster can be broken down into smaller pieces for better transportation. However they warn against doing it often as the screws may eventually strip the PVC/Resin. I'm interested in purchasing as well and these pictures really help my decision process. Hope this helps!
  7. Thanks a bunch. This is helping me start to narrow down my decision. I've seen people's warnings of dropping resin kits. When these things become damaged, is it repairable as if one were replacing blocks on a lego set? Or do resin pieces actually shatter into many pieces? I'm sure there have been threads on E-11 repairs if such a thing happens.
  8. Thanks for the feedback, yall! Is it general consensus to not troop with Doopy / Resin kits? Does anybody troop with Resin kits? I'm more interested in the "best" blaster to troop with and not so much for display purposes. Side question: Are we required to paint the ends during cons or for trooping at volunteer events?...or does this depend on the event/venue? (say a children's hospital).
  9. I'm currently looking to get my E-11 now that the Anovos kit has been purchased. Full resin kits seem a bit too involved for my taste / comfort level. I envy those who fully hand make their E-11s though. What E-11 is most widely favored among the Trooping community? Is it a matter of personal taste? Is there one more coveted than the other? I'm debating with myself: Shall I go with the ANH version since the Anovos kit is from ANH -- or ESB, my favorite of the OT. The ANH E-11 looks heftier - looks nice. It looks as if it has more oomph to it because of the counter and the power cylinders. I'm currently looking at options from THG Props / Darth Cleavage on Etsy and HFX (their B Grade E-11s seem to be more affordable, the $300 for a hyperfirm is nearly the cost of the TK Kit). Thoughts? Anyone in the same boat?
  10. I like this idea. At the very least we should follow up with each other if we tall Anovos troopers have any issues / lessons learned.
  11. Argh not the response I wanted lol
  12. Fellow TK and TK wannabes...help me out with something that's been a little nagging to me. I'm 6'2/3'' at 206(for now) lbs. I know Anovos is saying their kit is designed up to 6'. Was this mainly for the undersuit? For what it's worth, I ordered the "Large". I've seen some people on here saying that they're not worried and can make it fit but that's coming from only a few posters. What do yall think? Will I have to do a lot of shimming? (I'm a total noob, but I'm pretty sure I got that term right). Thanks!
  13. Thanks for starting this thread since I've recently been wondering about this as well. The TK in my profile pic is not me... but I do hope to join him at Football games as soon as I get my kit built. With that said, I plan to get a Red Pauldron and spray paint my team's logo on it in white. Obviously not canon https://www.etsy.com/listing/150178963/star-wars-stormtrooper-shoulder-pauldron?ref=fp_item&aref=45795188558
  14. I'm finally ready to pull the trigger! Signal is weak where I'm at and I feared I missed the deadline. Passing through a small town and finally have signal. Would anyone mind sharing their coupon for ordering? Many thanks!
  15. Still lurking...still *this close* to pulling the trigger. Even closer now that I'm seeing good feedback of the pictures. Will check back in closer to the 9th. Side note: I refreshed the Anovos purchase page and had a slight heart attack when seeing the price at $1450...but then remembered to switch it to the kit option. Wheew!
  16. I've finally caught up. Like many of you first time wannabe TKs, the Anovos kit was what caused you to take the plunge and order the kit. I I too am being swayed into purchasing this kit. The $450 pricing is good until July 9th -- so this is the deadline I'm setting for myself. Go, no-go. Also would be interesting to see if those of you who ordered it at the $350 price point will receive it significantly before those of us ordering later. Selfishly, this gives guys like me a chance to see if the kit is any good and whether we need to cancel our order for a refund or not. I'll be paying close attention to the builds of all you 6' and up people. I'm 6'2''... but from reading some of the comments here, some of you aren't worried at all about making it work.
