How are you securing the armor to the back of the glove? also how do you hid the yellow?

The hand guard is glued to 2 elastic bands.  One that goes around my wrist and the other around my palm.  My undershirt sleeves are long enough so it covers the yellow stripe at the bottom edge of the glove.

  2. I found the Gorilla Grip gloves but when I tried them on they looked almost like mesh.  Breathable yes but you could easily see my flesh underneath.  I don't know how they could be approved.  I did already buy a set of rubber gloves but I'm gonna order a set of the Nomex and be done with it.

You won't get approved in the Gorilla gloves, i just use them for troops.  Your handguard covers most of the top of your hand anyway.  Nobody notices your hands when your wearing white shiny armor!  Next to the armor they look full black. But hey if you don't like no worries.  What works for some may not work for others.  Being as comfortable as you can is the key.

  3. Got mine last night too.  I love the fact that you can control how loud you need to talk into the microphone before it picks up anything.  So I can lightly cough, clear my throat and it won't pick any of the up, until I start talking. My iComm system picked up every noise. Loud music, excited people, PA systems all would trigger my iComm. So when I was at Star Wars night at a local baseball game I basically walked around with constant static bursts popping on and off. I eventually turned it off. Last night I tested my Rom/FX around my dogs barking and not once did it trigger the microphone. Also I love the fact that I can easily put my helmet on now too. I don't mind that it doesn't have an audio in port. I rarely play TK chatter or music anyway. I love all the customization options.  Don't get me wrong the iComm system definitely works.  But there is situations where it may not work the best.

  4. Some of the elastic loops will be sewn a little smaller then others. The butt to kidney attachments can be pretty small so as to help avoid some of the butt sides flair (mine are 3/4 of an inch wide). So yes they can have some different sizing depending on your body and positioning. Most of my other ones are approximately 1 inch wide, looped. That measurment is based off of if you sew your loop lay it flat and measure its height. Hope that helps. You will have enough elastic leftover to make more if you need to make adjustments.

  5.  That makes sense.

I have a setup with the icomm from Ukswrath but since a buddy is interest in building a suit and I have some spending money, I figured I'd try a rom/fx and I can give the extra setup to him. I'm in no rush, the icomm is great as it is. Looking into adding a tk chatter mp3 to it.

I have an iComm system too.  It does a great job!  But like you, I wanted to try out the RomFx. I have heard so may good things about it. The only downside is that with the RomFx, you don't have an audio in for TK chatter.  But I've only used it a couple times on my iComm system anyway.  Just keep an eye out for when the RomFx website comes back online.  Like someone mentioned above he only does 2-4 batches a year. I have been wanting one for quite some time. I just got lucky and got in contact with him a couple weeks before he was starting a new run.

  6. I have been using these on troops. Gorilla Grip Gloves They are breathable on the backside of your hand but have a rubbery texture on the inside (palm area). No more sweaty hands! When I shake people's hands or give them a high 5 they feel the rubbery texture too. They also are form fitting so you have a ton of dexterity. You can buy them at Home Depot also. I'm wearing them in my signature pic below.

  7. Hey guys where is the best place to get a helmet kit or even buy a helmet for a decent price. I'm new to the whole thing.

ATA Works sells helmet kits. His prices are very reasonable. You can email him here: ataworks@yahoo.com.  I have the full ATA armor and love it.

  8. You could use this Du-Bro Reamer

The reamer is metal and has a sharp point and a blade going up one side. As you twist, it slowly starts reaming out a hole. The deeper you go the bigger the hole. It might be more comfortable for you to use.  I used it on a few places with my 2mm thick armor and it worked great. It comes with a flat and a curved plastic cutting scissors. These come in handy too.

  9. Thanks wingnut! Got some fixes to do for centurion, but nothing I can't handle. It really is heart warming seeing my daughter take to my hobby so well. She was literally finding and picking me out of the lineup of troopers there! She knows her trooper! Hell, whenever she finds my bucket she brings it to me yelling 'trooper!' And forces me to put it on haha. <br>

Is there any tips or tricks to painting to vocoder, I'm no Picasso

I took a pencil and drew out what I wanted as the edges. Then when I painted, all I had to do was stay in the lines. Use a small brush and paint the edge first and then fill it in.

Edit - Just checked out your EIB approval. Congrats!  As stated there, just take a Q-tip with some mineral spirits and clean up the edges.  Also a toothpick would help for sharper details. You may not need to repaint it. If you do decide to repaint it definitely draw out the edges with a pencil.

  10. Nice work on your build.  I have ATA also and I'm enjoying it.  I get compliments from others I troop with and I'm sure you will too. Besides the shoulder bells being a little too turned back, I'm noticing your painted buttons on your ab section.  They seem to be a little big to me. I don't think it would affect your EIB/Centurion submission. But I feel they would look better smaller.  Check out some screen shots for reference. Your armor turned out really nice!

Edit- It could just be the lighting/shadow in this particular picture too. When I say "a little big", I mean just a hair.
