  1. Well, small update to this.....

Daughter has some savings and after a chat has decided that actually, she'd prefer to be a Snow Trooper than a Jawa but wasn't sure we'd let her spend her money (she's 18 this year, she can spend it on whatever she wants to!!).  Going to RS next weekend to pick up her Snow Trooper kit.  I now have a half built TK a half built TS and a box of snowy bits.

Daughter meanwhile is bouncing off the walls and cannot wait until Saturday.

I guess the family that Troops together......  ;)

  2. Thats a great photo!  My Dad would have been impressed by it all I think, he was the one who I'd curl up on the sofa with and watch Battlestar Galactica (the PROPER one not this new crap  :) ) and he was the one who took me to see Star Wars (though I think we told Mum I'd seen Snow White or some other such movie).  Sadly he died a couple of years ago but I think he'd have loved it.

I shall start a thread this weekend, I've been dremmelling shoulder bells today and just trying to get everything smooth, hopefully should be able to start assembling and adjusting to fit this weekend.

  3. my mom is on board, although she is more of a "trekkie" she has already requested a stormtrooper/son appearance at her home soon

Mine is quite old at 78 and doesn't really appreciate the whole genre, if I turned up as something from one of her crap Catherine Cookson movies it would be a whole other story  :)

  4. Greetings Jane, and welcome to the FISD!!!

I have to admit that I laughed out loud at your dining room box situation and the "conversation" that led to it.   ;)

Have you thought to create a build thread here for assistance?  Your Easter timeline is probably VERY reachable, especially if you've already got the bucket done.

I do need to start a build thread here.  Started one over on the UK Garrison but a bit guilty of getting carried away with the build and not taking photographs....

I had hoped to drag him into the 501st at some point I just hoped to get mine done first.  Now I have a 17 year old daighter nagging because she wants to join as a Jawa. I refuse to start that one until at least one of the others is finished because I can't take more boxes  :D

I'm probably the only wife in the UK who was given an E-11 Blaster for Christmas and was overjoyed  :)

  5. Hi all,

Been lurking for a while but not yet posted an introduction.  I'm Jane and I'm from Staffordshire in the UK.

I'm currently in the process of building my own RS ESB kit, it was all going well until my husband uttered those immortal words..... "Actually, I've always wanted to be a Scout Trooper".  I now have lots of big boxes in the dining room and two builds on the go.

So far we have both helmets assembled.  Hoping to have everything completed ideally by Easter (fingers crossed!)

I've loved Star Wars since I was a little girl but my Mum wouldn't let me have any of the toys because 'they were for boys'.  Unfortunately she created a monster hehe

    Good to be here  :smiley-sw013:

  6. Just to add, I've watched his auctions over the last few months and he's averaging a couple of kits a week here.  The kit doesn't come with strapping and velcro etc so I guess to a novice (and lets face it, it's going to be a novice that buys these, no offence jeff) it's a daunting task.  I'd imagine that it might take a bit longer to assemble than a full kit so I anticipate that by Easter the 501st is going to have an influx of this guys suits and a lot of disappointed and frustrated troopers.

I thought I'd researched, it transpired I really hadn't but I was very very lucky the guys over on the UK Garrison spotted it for me.  (extra thanks to Si who I know is here as well).  My RS build is coming along nicely, though a little slower than originally planned as husband bought himself an SC Biker Scout so currently assembling 2 lots of kit

  7. I bought this armour around October last year.  Fortunately I found out before I'd made any cuts that it was highly unlikely to be 501st Approved.  At the time Rattlehead was selling this in the main title as '501st Approved'. I questioned this in my dispute and he has taken it out of the title, however, it remains in the body of his auctions.  To his credit he paid for the return and refunded in full.

As to the question of who he is, I can tell you his name is Andrew Bourne, or at least that is the name on the Paypal account.

I bought an RS kit just before Christmas and to be honest it's like comparing a mini to a Ferrari.  The RS kit blows this out of the water.
