  1. Interested as well. If there is to be any armour party at all...
  2. Oh, I'm well aware of this. All I'm saying though is if they couldn't remake the exact OT armor, than at the very least give us lanky troopers. Whether you like it or not, lankiness is a traditional trait of the OT trooper. Doesn't make sense to do out of nowhere bulky troopers now, yet we never see a single bulky trooper in episodes 4, 5, 6. Some consistency would have been nice. Heck, I'm sure there would have been quite a lot of 501st members who have a lanky look would have loved to volunteer to be in this movie. Only one time ever did they introduce the idea of a bulky Imperial Stormtrooper and it was the 'Power of the Force' action figure in the 90's. People hated it since it was strange and did not resemble the film trooper look at all. Never again did we see a bulkier representation of the Stormtrooper... perhaps that may now all change when the Rogue One action figures come out. Then again, if we had bulky Stormtroopers in episode 6 then maybe they would have never had lost to a bunch of teddy bears so easily Anyways, regarding canvas belt... I don't buy that idea. "Oh, people have watched the OT in HD and realize that a Stormtrooper belt is half canvas. No, that simply must not do. Let's recreate this by making it plastic on both sides. That surely won't look dumb." Are they going to next change the pouches on the Scout Trooper from canvas material to plastic too? People have seen the OT in HD now and are fine with the canvas belt (I think it looks great!), heck they are even more exposed to it after playing hours upon hours of a Stormtrooper in third person in Battlefront. I'm sure if Disney/EA were worried that the canvas would be "cheap looking" than they would have already given the plastic belt in the Battlefront game. Personally, I think there might be a different reason to why these changes were made to the armor and it would be real nice if they somehow made reference to it in the movie.
  3. I'm surprised no one has mentioned how more bulkier (ala TFA Stormies) these Stormtroopers are. Honestly, I'm missing the traditional OT lanky/fit look. I agree, the helmet does look very similar to the efx. I can also understand the changes made to the back/kidney but why get rid of the canvas belt? The double plastic belt looks cheap and stupid. I don't see how a plastic belt is more durable than a canvas belt... strange choice.
  4. It's rather more surprising and shocking for me that with so many troopers in the GTA area, I still can't find anyone to help me out with this. By any chance is the ANOVOS Stormtrooper 501st approved?
  5. If I could had, I would have done it by now. Rather get someone with experience to do it. Besides, I take no pleasure in the actual build process unlike others do. To each his own.
  6. Checked them out, unfortunately, they are Ottawa based. That's a bit too far, looking for something closer, local or in GTA. I already tried registering on the Canadian Garrison forum but they only accept 501st members.
  7. Not sure where to exactly post this, so I'll just throw this in here. So summer is here and I'm thinking about undusting my GF Follano armour that I bought last fall. I had since forgotten about it but the Niagara Comic Con made me remember I still had it, unfortunately I am unable to still wear it to the Con. It mainly needs a strapping system installed. (Granted, some small modifcations are needed but those aren't the priority now) How much do you guys think it would cost to pay someone to install it for me? (a fair estimation) I'm in the GTA so I'm looking for someone local of course. Asked around before for help but it doesn't seem like anyone wanted to help, so I've got no choice but to pay to get this done if I want to wear my armour. My original armour thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29004-my-brand-new-gf-follano/ PS: As stated in my armour thread, I am not good with building anything with my hands. If anything, I usually end up breaking things and attempting to do it myself is the last thing I want to do. Originally I wanted to get this stuff done through the guidance and help of a veteran member but no one replied back so I'm stuck going through this route. Regardless, it's high time I finally made this armour wearable. My last resort would be to sell this armour off and buy a completed ANOVOS set, but obviously I'd rather not do that.
  8. I want to get the iron/metal grilling for my bucket's mouth/teeth but I am not sure how to go about doing this. Every other tutorial/website I have tried to look to do this only mentioned regular mesh instead. Help, anyone? --------
  9. Haha, like I mentioned in my first post, I already have a pair of rubber/chemical gloves. That's why I'm looking to upgrade.
  10. I like the US Air Force Pilot Black gloves. Good price too, only how would I be able to attach the handplates onto them?
  11. See, that's just the thing. Unlike majority of the people here, I don't take any enjoyment or pride in building things/making them. I'm not handy with my hands either. That's why I was looking to only getting an already assembled "out of the box" armor. The seller told me it is already assembled and would be wearable, I believed him but now I see I may have made a slight mistake. Unfortunately, I can't return this armor for a refund anymore so I'm stuck with it. Follano did an awful job on making this wearable, he had to make this armor in mind of only putting it on a mannequin, because it's not ideal for human wear. If that was what he was aiming for, then I want whatever he was smoking lol! The velcro system is horrid and I feel very stale and not very mobile/flexible when wearing the armor using it, constantly hearing velcro ripping apart sounds in random places on the suit. Sometimes different velcro parts of the armor randomly rip off as well. Here are some shots of me wearing the armor. *** Note: Yes, I realized the sniper knee velcro ripped during the photo session, but there was no way I was going to attempt in bending over to try and fix it. Otherwise I'd risk having other parts of the armor velcro rip. After one or so poses, the garbage hand plates strip fell off as well and yet again, I wasn't going to risk bending down to try to retrieve them. Oh yeah, the button piece on the chestplate came off so I will have to superglue it back on later I suppose. Wanted to point this all out to everyone. As you can see, the bicep armor is a mess. I'm a skinny lean guy, so I can't velcro it anymore thinner as it already is. I also can't plate them under the shoulder pads due to the velcro under the shoulder pads not allowing it (at least if I want to be mobile and move lol). The thigh pieces are annoying as well. They were pretty big so I tried to re-arrange the velcro on them to make them more thinner resulting in them looking a bit weird. But even when doing that, they still continue to fall down my leg. When the rest of the armor is put up, there is one strip of velcro that comes down from each of the front sides that attaches to the thigh pieces. Even with that, the thighs still hang pretty low. The leg armor is alright, but due to being a soccer player, I have the most muscle in my calves, so it's hard to cover my whole leg with the armor leaving a big part of my boots showing. Not sure if thats supposed to be normal or not. Here are some seperate shots of the bicep, arm, and thighs armor: (Yes, I need to get a new pair of gloves that have the handplates already attached to it. The velcro strap is crap, constantly slipping off)
  12. I'm looking to changing the current gloves that came with my set (black rubber gloves with elastic velcro for handplates). What is the best choice out there that everyone prefers? I heard some good things about leather gloves, can anyone point me to some good leather gloves with preferably velcro pads already stitched into them? I've checked these out on Ebay so far, any opinions on them? -----------
  13. lol... who said anything about using the star foam? I was talking about painting inside the helmet black as many troopers do as you can see ---------- Point is, I don't want to go through the trouble of painting it black inside and would rather get this helmet padding to cover the white inside the helmet for both comfort and aesthetic reasons. Now your solution is to just scratch that and throw in star foam inside the white inner helmet. Cool, that solves for the comfort but not aesthetics as the inside is still white.
  14. There are still some Jango Fett clones around here and there from what I understand. There are just not many of them and they make the minority within the corps. They are only part of Vaders 501st I believe.
  15. Because I don't want to have to go through the trouble of painting inside the helmet black.
  16. Stormtroopers in Rebels are not clones but enlisted men. This is now cannon and confirmed by the creators of the show. There is a reason why you hear Stormtroopers always in different voices, unlike the clones who all sounded like Jango Fett.
  17. Well that's what I was afraid of, I'd much have rather paid a wee bit extra if it meant I didn't have to add a strapping system to it, especially if it meant I wouldn't have to cut the armor to size... I'm too paranoid in screwing up the armor in the procress. I'd much rather pay someone here in the GTA to do it for me. I'll have some free time later on and post some pictures of me wearing the armor in it's current state to give everyone a better idea how it looks.
  18. I'm thinking of ordering some of this padding for my bucket to add some more comfort to it plus for aesthetic reasons for how a real trooper's helmet would look inside. I was thinking of getting some of these paddings offered on Ebay as a quick fix instead of going through the trouble of painting the inside of my helmet black, etc. Has anyone ever purchased one of these before? How are they? Would you recommend them? Would they fit a AP/GF bucket well? ------------
  19. Thanks Andy! You were a big help to me on these forums already, thanks to you I should now have my temporary e11 blaster to go with this suit. Should do well until I can get a more legit version sometime later on.
  20. So I bought this GF Follano Type 2 (what AP is based from) locally here in Toronto from someone who sells collectibles. Granted, I did not even know what a GF Follano was at the time but the asking price was so outrageously low ($750), in addition he told me this was a very rare suit. So how could I have said no to that? I've always wanted Stormtrooper armour of my own, but never having the time to build it myself, nor justifying paying a $1000+ for an assembled "costume" due to being a student, I thought I did "ok" here. However, I'm honestly a newbie and you guys are the real experts here. So you tell me. For my only research on the armour before purchase, this is the place where I checked up on it: http://www.starwarshelmets.com/imperialfanGF.htm For the price, I got the entire set up. Helmet, body armour, size 11 CAboots, blaster holster, undersuit, gloves, and the neck brace. Both the helmet (inside) and chest plate are autographed by Follano. Everything was completely new and in original bubblewrap/plastic packaging, never worn as it was kept in storage for so many years. The "storage smell" that the armour gave off at first really tells you how long it had to stay dormant in someones attic since the early 2000's. A collector had originally purchased several of these from Follano way back and had left some in storage. He was later forced to sell this to pay the bills, from which I later bought it off of the merchant. The pictures shown right here are the ones he provided me. Now this came with absolutely no instructions, and this was actually my very first experience in dealing with TK armour. Took me almost an hour to try to put this on (I had no idea what half of the pieces were used for and where they went, etc). Yup, I had literally no idea what I was doing. So understandably, my first time wearing this was not very positive. After doing some research online I now have begun to have a better understanding of where most of the pieces go and such. With that said, I still would like some pointers from anyone who has experience with the GF on how to properly set it up and such. Hopefully so I can take some pictures later actually wearing it to show to you guys. With that said, this suit still requires modification in my eyes. It only has velcro, and as I was putting it on I struggled with it. I see a lot of troopers have a strap and snap system going on with their armour so I will want to do the same with mine. That and also add a vinyl screen to the frown on my bucket. That is one of the reasons I was hoping to find someone else in the GTA who would be willing to help me out with this as I have zero experience "building" anything with my hands. I also can't for the life of me figure out how the attach the thermal detonator on the back of the belt. I'm not sure what to do with it, it neither has a velcro strap on it (neither does the back of the belt), nor did it come with any clips to attach it to the belt. I also had trouble with keeping the arm and forearm armour on. I'm a skinny guy (183cm, 75 kg) and they would be slipping around and off me the whole time. Still too loose. I assume with the strap and snap system is a way most people get around this? Well either way, that is just the basic modifications I am planning for this bad boy just so it is wearable and comfortable enough to troop in. Once I get that all done I think I will move onto the helmet and change the mic tip aerators (the ones that came with the helmet are old as the ducktape around them is being to peel off), and possibly plan to buy some Stormtrooper helmet padding from ebay... but all that later of course. A voice changer sometime later down the line would be incredible. Here are for now some pictures of me trying on the GF bucket.
  21. So I'm looking for a e11 blaster to go with my new Stormtrooper armour. I checked ebay and the ones they have there go for $100+. Right now I can't justify spending that much on a toy gun and looking for something to use in the meantime until in the future I get a legit e11 blaster. I've decided to look locally in hopes of finding a Hasbro e11 blaster which I would spray paint black. Unfortunately, everywhere I went to did not have it... rather the Toys R Us near me had this in stock... the Star Wars Rebels Stormtrooper Blaster (Nerf) What do you guys make of it? -----------
