Industrial Velcro sticks just fine. If u need more stick, E6000.

Looking good Greg. And yes, Velcro on the boots and shins is the easiest option for those twisting shins. Works great too!

Congrats on another BBB!

Hi Julien and welcome aboard future Trooper!
Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members.
Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here.
In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion). I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion, and it’s best to do during your build rather that after.
If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary/PX” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use.
Also, keep in contact with your local Garrison. They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison.
So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible.
All the best on your TK journey!

Yeesh. That shouldn't have passed if it did.
It should look like this...
-
I hope you are just holding that there with your hand.
The rivet (closest to camera) has to go on the squared off area at the bottom of the thigh (I can see in the pic that the other side (closest to husky box) is correct).
If you've riveted the one closest to camera in up the side of your thigh, you'll need to remove it and fill the hole with ABS paste.

Looking Good Fab!

Frank, congrats on your submission. I'd suggest you contact your garrison about younglings trooping with you as there could be restrictions. It's a safety & liability kind of thing.
-
Greg, have a look at a Centurion approval. There will be some great pics of how the thigh should look. Yes, your cover strip should be cut, and you might be able to cut off the top of the thigh for a smooth look ... but I'd wait on that until you can get kitted up a bit to check spacing between your thighs and your cod.
About the split rivets, they don't need to be functional, they only need to exist. If you can line things up with another method, go for it.
-
Beautiful Build Dana. Loving the sanded smooth edges. TK's building right now should look at your thread.
I'll chine in on the bicep to forearm conversation, if you make is connection elastics with snaps it allow you to put on your shoulder bells and biceps first, then you can snap on your forearms. This gives you greater range of motion while dressing. As you'll see in the change room, TK's have different ways of getting kitted up. Some do what I just told you, and some put on the entire arm (forearm, bicep, and bell) as an entire sleeve. Some do it other ways with the bells already attached to the shoulder straps. It's a mixed bag. Just saying the connection doesn't have to be a permanent thing, until you figure out how you like to get dressed. I'd say leave the strapping out for now until you can fully kit up. Then decide what works best for you.
-
Great Start Ian! Good job on the trimming. Have you looked at tapering your thighs to fit your leg?

Nice work trooper! Great progress.
And yes, be careful on those late nights. Tired body or mind = mistakes! It's better if the build takes longer, than pressing on and wishing you hadn't.

Congratulations Andrew. Now put that baby aside and get on with that Centurion Application!
Just kidding. Hug your baby.
