  1. Does jackofoam work as a mold sculpting material? It is pretty easy to manage i mean so that would be nice.
  2. The person selling is stating that it is 501st approved. What do you guys think? (Not planning to buy, just interested) http://www.ebay.com/itm/231239082703
  3. From what i have heard the FX helmet is the big problem, but i have already got good looking helmet so maybe an FX armour for me maybe would not be the worst thing, or maybe it would, i dont really know ^^
  4. I am always amazed how you guys see even the tiny detailes that makes the kit not screen accurate! Thank you, i appreciate the help
  5. I am not planning to buy it, but it would be interesting to know if this is a well made armour or not! What do you all think? http://www.ebay.es/itm/161310429032
  6. Yeah you are probably right
  7. Would this be better? http://m.ebay.com/itm/251530998171
  8. If you use google translate is says "without helmet" but it also says that everything in the pictures is included. What do you guys think? Is the helmet included or not? My german isnt that good...
  9. I thought so, okay so the set is not living up to 501st standard. But what is really wrong with fiberglass, is it because it is so heavy and hard to assemble? What if someone was just looking for a armour to make a descent looking stormtrooper? Then would it do? Or is fiberglass simply unbareable?
  10. Hello guys! I would like to know your opinion on this armour: http://m.ebay.com/itm/111355539347?nav=VI I know it is fiberglass but this set usually gets sold for about 230$ wich, as a college student with little money, is pretty good! And the feedback from people who bought the armour is not bad! Is there any way a fiberglass armour could be wearable? And maybe get 501st approved? Appreciate the answers! Thanks!!
  11. Got it! Thank you for the answers!
  12. I see, so it is rather a matter of moral and justice rather than that the recast would be of less movie accuracy and quality?
  13. Hello everyone, simple question, the word gets mentioned all the time here. But for a new member i need to know! What is a recast and what does it mean? Thanks!
  14. Thank you all, i think i got my question answered. Now it's only down to the drawing board! Thanks again
  15. TK Bondservnt 2392, i am humble to your reply and thank you for sharing your knowledge in the subject, although, i don't think this project has been a, as you say it, "waste of my time and money", we all have to start somewhere and i as i said, i have only been making this for family and friends, as birthday gifts mostly, with no intention of earning any money. I have learned alot about vacuum forming and plastic and it has been really fun. And absolutely worth the money it took to buy the plastic sheets. To Jannick, thank you so much, i am absolutely aware that it is a crappy armor but for my first try i am actually glad with the result. Even though it doesnt really look like an actual stormtrooper^^ the molds i have been using is simply cardboard, that i have formed with duct tape. And the material that the armor is made of is HIPS 1,5 mm plastic. Which does the trick for me Unfortunatly i dont have that many pictures. It wasnt until i was almost done that i realised that i should have documented the project. Even though it's amateur made.. I will see if i can find some photots though
  16. I see, yes earlier i have been using HIPS 1,5 mm plastic but i have looked into ABS and started to think that it will fit me better
  17. Hello everyone, i am New here and really excited to meet you all Here is my question, i have been making "amateur" stormtrooper armors now for a while for my Brothers and closest friends, but i now feel like a want to "step it up" a notch So i am thinking of making some molds and just wondered: Which are the best materials to make the molds out of? I am pretty skilled With Wood, would Wood molds work? Also, is it possible to vacuum form right out from the plastic armor, or will the plastic melt and you end upp getting 2 really bad armor pieces? Thank you so much and have a Nice day! P.S I am posting a Picture of one of my armors that i have made, I would really like to hear what you all think of it! I am very well aware that it isnt Perfect and no way near 501st approvable! Thanks again!
