  2. Thanks guys, that is great stuff!. Definitely seems to be the increased warmth from my breath - hearing my breathing seems to be part of that too. Getting comfortable with the neckseal I think seems a part as well. I will be looking into a fan, as I can see how hot it will get quickly. Being distracted by something certainly seems to be helping (i.e. sitting here with neckseal and bucket both on reading the forums, typing, etc). Had it on for 2 minutes, took it off, then put it back on, and am going good over 20 minutes with it on and counting - still feels a bit strange, but certainly not panicky and no trouble breathing! Better than I expected the first day. I absolutely love hearing and reading about others being in the same boat, and how you saw the light at the end of the tunnel Now I need a good straw - how do you drink with this thing on? A trooper gets mighty thirsty in here (do snowtroopers keep a camelback system on their backs?)
  3. Curious if anyone has used something like this (seems to skip needing to connect the switch) and connect direct to a fan: http://www.amazon.com/Vktech-Battery-Holder-Switch-Cover/dp/B00N7BEFHI/ref=pd_sim_107_14?ie=UTF8&dpID=4157GDaaBsL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0QSXQ2F61GN0DA18K7VN
  4. So I have never been clausterphobic before, but have never worn a helmet like the TK bucket either. I was very surprised how hard I found it to breathe in there after even a couple minutes with the restricted airflow. This seems to be something normal, that most people just get used to. I used the plastidip to paint the inside black, but don't think that would have much of an affect (researching I have read some forum posts where this may be the case). So, has anyone out there done anything different such as cutting out additional slits (fans seem really common, mostly for heat, but the airflow probably helps with this too) Does anyone have tips they would like to share how they got past this if they did something different? I figure just wearing it around the house to get used to it will probably help (as will talking with my local garrison as I attend more events) but was looking for any other feedback the community has in general. Thanks!
  5. Hi all, just a couple last minute questions as I am likely finishing up my TK build: 1. I have seen the ab/side rivets painted and believe the cod rivet and also the thigh/ammo pack. Is this all, or are any other exposed rivets supposed to be painted white too? I think I just answered my own question, but any confirmation would be great! 2. Do you cover the split rivets on the inside with anything? I ask as they seem a bit sharp, even mostly flattened out, and worry this might catch on my under armor (also anything sharp around my cod area is concerning). Has anyone been snagged by this before, or is it a non-issue? Sure I am leaving something out
  6. Perfect, thanks all for the input - yeah my face and top have a bit of gap, so the trim seems to sag. fall out of place a bit (not an issue with the neck trim) so I will continue with the E6000 that so far has been excellent with everything else!
  7. I have not found the answer to this yet, so am just posting. Does anyone glue the brow trim on, and what do you use? I have seen not to glue the neck s trim down (ATA lid), as pressure should keep that in place if cut correctly, and a little superglue works great for those waves that show up on the inside. The search did not find what I needed, so any help on the brow trim would be awesome!
  8. Yeah 5/8 is a bit small for my biceps, but might work for the for forearms - just don't want it to look strange with 5/8 for arms and then like 1 in for my biceps.
  9. Couple questions I haven't found an answer to yet: 1. ATA armor the biceps are a bit different, the left is much more round, while the right is a bit more oval, giving me a better fit on the right to the shape of my bicep than the left. Has anyone else experienced this, and can I just try to bend out a bit using a heatgun to shape better? 2. For finishing strips, does it look off to use a 7/8 in strip on the forarms, and 1 inch on the biceps? 1/8 seems like a small difference, and I could add padding to the forarms for a better fit and 1 in all around, but the biceps seem to need a 1 inch. Or is it better to use 7/8 overall, but on the backside of the bicep use like a 1.25 inch strip? Thanks for any input, and I am having a blast working on this!
