  1. Cool thanks everyone. I riveted the face and cap/back together and have started on the ears.
  2. But now I need some HELP! Is this right? I've placed the brow where I want it. Clamped it. But look at the second picture -- are the bottoms supposed to match up like that? Do I trim any of that first?? I don't I've ever seen how the bottom matches up on any build thread.
  3. Thanks everyone. I looked at these references plus some others and just kept filing them down. I think they're looking good. I also reinforced the hovi mic area with a tip from Ground Pounder (Brian) -- canvas soaked in E6000.
  4. Progress on the teeth. Would you shave off more? I think I'd like to shave more off:
  5. Thanks Tim, BJ, and Kyle! Trooperbay order on its way. Easy 'nuf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. OK - found this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/25571-replacement-brow-trim-for-ata-helmet/ I'm not real comfortable with the search feature on this forum... but found the above link thru google.
  7. Hello all - I need some help! I cut my brow trim too short. Where can I get just the brow trim?
  8. Alright - had to step away from it for a couple days. End of the world in Atlanta recently and all that jazz. Working on the teeth: Goes without saying that I need to take a lot more off right? Mainly in the top and bottom of the cut out portion:
  9. Thanks Chris and Germain -- that's exactly what I did. I followed your new line, Germain (thanks for that!), fit the pieces together, and then trimmed a little more. Will post pictures later tonight.
  10. Alright - seeking feedback on the s-curve. I looked closely at PandaTrooper's ATA helmet build and tried to mirror it. Look ok? Here's PandaTrooper's:
  11. Yikes. Ok. I think (hope) I just cut pretty much where PandaTrooper cut his... hoping I didn't cut too much off for it to fit together well. I'll go back and take a second look at PandaTrooper's. I need to slow down and post pictures of my drawn cut lines first!
  12. Thanks Glen - yeah - I prefer the sharp lines. This is not going to be a "hospitality" trooper haha.
  13. OK, so I know I'm documenting this in more detail than is probably healthy... but that's just me. Maybe someone coming behind me will appreciate it. We'll see if I can keep it up. Waiting on file set to arrive from Amazon to do the teeth. So I did the edges of the face. I thought I'd use tape simply to provide a straight line to cut by: (in this picture I cut to the left of the tape) For the bottom I did do a light pencil line: I've decided the way I like to work with the material is to press really hard in order to create a good first groove because when the first pass is light it was hard to stay in that original groove. BUT I also work hard to just keep the blade steady and only attempt to move millimeters at a time so as to avoid slipping and slicing through a part I don't want scratched. Used some nasty ol' wire cutters for the "snap & break" lines. Worked, but probably could use some nice quality scissors or something: And... the face with trimmed edges complete:
  14. Will need some filing and sanding but... that wasn't as bad as I was worried it would be.
  15. Cool thanks. Here goes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Here's the same eye (left) looking up at it from below:
  17. Alright. Drew my first cut lines. Doing the eyes first. What do you think? Drew the lines where it looked like the mold had natural lines. Looking down on left eye from above: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks! The GA garrison has a mentor program and a mentor (Ground Pounder... Brian) will be coming over to help me get started. Will post pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Wow - nicely done. Really nice build all over. Thanks for posting such thorough pics.
  20. Yeah that looks really slick. Will have to try my hand at this when I get to this point. Thanks for the tip.
  21. Thanks RainTrooper! Guessing ATA has enuf experience with newbs contacting him for a second set of ears. And yeah -- will definitely keep Pandatrooper's build thread open as I go through it.
  22. Thanks Tolo -- I counted the bumps -- turns out I have two sets of Stunt ears -- good news in case I mess up! Re: Scootch... I don't suppose you have the thread link handy? I did a search and found him and scrolled through his topics and am not seeing it. Much appreciated!
  23. Thanks Rawgee - great build thread. I'll definitely refer to that often once mine arrives. And yeah, I ended up going with an ATA helmet. Hopefully will dive into starting to cut this weekend.
  24. Hello friends, Will be building an ANH TK (or maybe TD). Unboxed the first piece today -- an ATA helmet. **ready for some n00b questions?** 1. Why two sets if ears? In case I mess up? 2. Is there any wisdom as to where I should draw my cut lines? I've seen tons of pictures of cut lines on these boards but is it just a matter of eyeballing how that translates to my helmet? Thanks all. Will be a long slow journey and I appreciate your feedback along the way!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Hey all - I'm considering using this armor for my first build... and I keep seeing people say that this armor is good for the bigger guys. I'm 5'9" and 160lbs. Will I run into problems with this armor? I know I can trim but that should do it, right?
