Thanks maxsteele. I really appreciate your input. I referred to your pics several times when finishing!

Approved! That was fast!

Looking good there brother!
Thanks!

That's a great idea to put Velcro on the boot. I'm going to try that. Thanks!

Going to add a strap to connect the chest to the ab. There's no way the ab can be raised. It's as high as it will go. But I think with a small elastic strap it will keep it right in place.
I have the bicep hook in place. But I feel like it's still moving around a little more than I would like. It is connected to the forearm.

My calf with the knee plate keeps rotating. Not sure how to make it stop. Need to add a strap to keep the chest in place on top of the abs. Also need to connect the biceps better. They are just kind of hanging now.

Okay it's been a while. I've been working on my Vader mostly. But I'm in a holding pattern waiting on my cape and robes. So I've gone back and done some more work on my TK. Did some trimming and strapping work. Tried it all on tonight. Please keep in mind, I haven't quite figured out how to put this all on by myself. And taking photos of myself with the gloves and helmet on is really difficult!

Well done! Unless it is a ROTJ suit or ANH hero, the lenses must be flat. Nice lid. Can't wait yo see pics of the rest!
Thanks. It's not perfect but I think it's okay for now. I want to redo one of the ears at some point that I kind of mangled.

I have to say, for Rubies I'm pretty impressed. I might pick one of these up as a lightweight alternative to my Droopy.

Big thanks to TB5K for coming over tonight to give me some advice on my build. Just need to make a few adjustments, add a few straps, and do a little more trimming of return edges and I think I should be ready to submit.

Hey Jeff, helmet looks sweet. I have one thing to mention, I see you have what looks like four teeth cut out on the side you can see clearly, this is what you commonly see on the stunt version of the helmet, you also have the bubble lenses fitted, which are seen on the Hero helmet version. When you submit for approval I think you will need to change the lenses out to the flat lens if it is the stunt variant you are building. Hope this helps.
Cheers

Yeah I know. I just really hate the flat lenses. I know it's more accurate, but it looks better with bubble lenses. But I was planning on swapping those out anyway for smoke lenses. Maybe I'll make it interchangeable. Or I'll get a second helmet.

Hi Jeffrey, haven't herd anything from you for a while, how is the build going?

Hello. Nothing new to report really. Working out a time when a friend who has done it before can come over to help me with the strapping.
-
Thanks. I have a friend who is going to help me sort out the strapping hopefully this week. If all goes well, it should be done soon.

Hey I know you!

Hi Dylan. I'm also in SF. About 80% done on my NE build. Also working on a Vader build. Happy to offer any learnings I can.
-
I might. So I was looking at your NE build. Looks like you connected the back plate to the cod/ab plate almost flush. It looks good. I was thinking of trying that and see if it helps mine. I'm having a hard time keeping the back and butt plates in check.
-
Yep, I had to take apart my biceps, re-size, cut, and re-glue them. I also removed the return edge on the inner part of my thighs and trimmed them down at the inner tops so they would stop catching on my cod and be able to pull them up to close the gap between the cod and the thighs.
What are you using for a strapping system on the thighs?
Yeah I was thinking I need to trim off the return edge on my thighs too. Even if I pull them up as high as I can, they barely reach the height they need to be at.
I'm using elastic straps attached to the thighs and the connected to the cod/ab section. I think if I trim off the return edge the thighs will fit better and be more comfortable to wear.
-
Alright Jeffrey! Your build was certainly one I followed for helping me out with my NE build! I'm happy to see you've picked it back up and looking forward to your submission photos!
Ah well I'm glad the thread helped.
Retrimmed my biceps tonight. And put the straps on the thighs. But it is still just not sitting right. I think I need to see if I can get a guy a know who has a TK to come over and help me sort it out. Once I start to strap stuff on my movement is too limited to work with it so it all hangs right.

Good on you mate, get stuck in, I believe that most on here are there to help, I too will be starting a build shortly and will rely heavily on feedback both positive and negative to achieve the best result I possibly can.
How far in did you get the first time?
Yeah, I'm just going to ignore the trolls.
I got pretty far. It's more or less complete at this point. Made some more cuts on some pieces. The glue is drying on them now. And them it needs some work on the strapping so that it sits right. Then it's photo time for submission. Should go pretty quick I hope.
-
After a year break, I've decided to pick up this build again and finish it off.
I got pretty discouraged by some negativity I experienced here. But after some prodding from some 501st members I know personally I'm going to ignore the trolls and finish this build and get it approved.
Today I did some trimming on my biceps and the glue is drying now. Then I need to work on the strapping of my thigh armor and see if I can do something about my shoulder bells.
I'm also currently working on a Darth Vader ESB build. Any SLD members here?
