  1. decal color on the helmet, much different than ANH not just a black frown.

trooperbay has excellent ESB decals for ATA kits.

I personally would get S neck trim, and keith's hovie tips.

you'll probably also want an ESB blaster.

you might want to consider replacing the CHEST and BACK upper body as well as swaping out the shoulder bells.

NE or AM armor would work pretty well to do that.

How do ANH and ESB blasters differ?

  2. Ideally, the bottom screw of the ear will pull everything together as previously stated. Once that happens, and with some careful trimming on the ears, the rubber trim will work fine

Hmmmm.. ok. I can kinda picture it. have to try to visualize since I don't have my lid with me at the moment. I seem to think that the gap is so wide. that the only thing that screw will go into is air. but I could be wrong. if it is. I have to see if I can dig my scraps out of the trash and shim it for a screw placement. Guess i could always use a piece of a for sale sign if I needed too. Thanks for the feedback!

  3. This thread is awesome. I'm working on my ATA right now and hit the same problem. I haven't drilled any holes yet though. I assumed that the ears would cover the gap on the left side (looking at the helmet) but I was more concerned with getting the rubber s shaped lining around the bottom with that gap. How do you work that out?

I had the distinct pleasure of assembling the first ATA ABS lid. This is just how I do it, it's not the way everyone does it, it might not be screen accurate assembly to 1976 standards, I use unorthodox tools - but who cares! Get over it. Build, troop and enjoy.

The pulls are nice. Plastic is slightly off white, not as beige as AM, very similar to TM

    This is ATA ABS #1

The face pull is VERY sharp. The sharpest I have seen, and I have built a lot of lids now.

    Ears

Plastic is pulled with a clear sticker coating to prevent scratches / damage. Simply peel this off.

Update: Helmets made after November 2011 may or may not have the clear film.

I mark about 1.25" above the eyes, and use a plastic strip to draw a line. I also mark the cap back edge for the ear area (will be covered by the ears)

Punch or drill a hole at the intersection to prevent the plastic from tearing

    Trim off the excess

What are your reference points for marking the cap back?

  5. I'm right where you are. got my tkboots ordered and am on the ATA wait list. I also have a blaster kit to work on but in the mean time, i'm working on a boba too so I have plenty to do. Unfortunatly, not much time. Thinking about getting the helmet sent out earlier as it seems to be a much easier build than the boba helmet I'm currently working on
