As always, much appreciated!

Hi there-
I was putting a hard hat liner in my helmet, and managed to screw it up. And now, I need to unglue some of the pieces.
Anyone have any suggestions of how to unglue the pieces that I have stuck together? I was thinking that heat would be the key (since it is hot glue after all), but I thought I would see if anyone had any better ideas before I screw this up further!
Thanks for any recommendations you can provide!

I wonder if anyone will confess to "messing up" with painting their armor/helmets and say "Darn it, I'll just cover my mistake with some weathering and be a sandtrooper instead"
I am a bit disappointed with how my bucket came out, and I am debating this very thing right now.

The description has a line that states... "mashups like this are now being considered by the 501st!!"
Really?

Welcome aboard!
When i first started out, this thread was recommended to me by quite a few members--- http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
Check it out, and have fun!

JJ Abrahms is a huge believer in In-Camera and practical effects. He may be able to convince a budget to have hard armor on set. That is my prediction. Also he's a fan boy and would want to see them in real life!
Just to chime in with my 2 cents, I agree Aaron on this.
Also, I would hope they have learned from the "mistakes" of the prequels, which many believe (myself included) were too reliant on CG.
On a related note, I'm interested on seeing how Stormtrooper armor has "evolved" in the 30 years between ROTJ and Episode VII. As classic as Stormies are, it's my bet that we will see new designs on the big screen. Something that continues the lineage from Clonetroopers, to Stormtroopers, to the next generation.
Plus, new armor designs will lead to more costuming opportunities!

You could always sell the second set to one of us who doesn't yet have their first set of armor, and who still on the wait list!

When using Plati Dip, do you need to prime the inside of the helmet first? Or, did you do a layer of white paint, to prevent the black color from coming through?
Just curious. I want to blacken the inside of my helmet (I suffer from skinny neck syndrom, so I don't want to ruin the illusion for little kids!), but I dont want to ruin the coloring of the front.
Thanks~

Hi there!
I too am on the wait list for ATA armor! In the meantime, I've put together (almost) everything else I need. The waiting is the hardest part, isn't it?
Anyway, welcome aboard. Happy Trooping!

Great tutorial! I received my ATA helmet yesterday. I cant wait to get started on it, but it's the first part of my armor I am building. I've never done this before, and I have to admit I'm a bit nervous! I'm not the best with tools, and I fear I'm going to make a mistake that can't be fixed. Oh well... Wish me luck!
You don't happen to build helmets for a reasonable price, do you?
-
One more follow up question... Will the color and gloss of a Troopermaster Helmet work well with color and gloss of ATA armor, or will it be very obvious that when the two are paired together that they are not a matched set?
Just curious. Thanks!

PM sent!

Thanks! I'm still a noob, I didn't even think to ask if he was on the forum!
Send a PM to "troopermaster" and he'll set you up.

Thanks for the replies.
I think I would rather buy a proper Hero helmet, rather then mod a Stunt helmet. I think I'll give the TM helmet a shot!
Anyone one have contact info for TM? I've been searching, and have found other posts with people asking the same thing, but I haven't found the answer? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again~

Hi there-
I'm still new to all of this, so please forgive me if these seem like stupid questions. I've searched for answers but haven't found them, so here I am asking!
First up, a bit of a practical question... I don't have my bucket yet, and I'm sure I will be able to figure this out once I have it. But, while I wait, I'm curious if there are any problems, issues, or concerns I should be thinking about because I wear glasses. Will I be able to keep my glasses on when trooping, or is it better to "go blind"? Just looking for some feedback and stories from my fellow "four eyes".
Secondly, I am on the wait list for a set of ATA armor. This kit comes with a stunt helmet. However, I am more interested in a hero helmet. I just really like the look of the bubble lenses. At first I thought I could just put bubble lenses in the stunt helmet, but I now know that is a "no-no", and that to have a true hero helmet, I'm going to need to do it right. So... where can I find a hero helmet? I have searched and searched and I am not finding an answer to this question. Please help!
Ok, that's it for now. I'm sure I'll have some follow up questions, but for now, I thank you for your feedback.

Soooo Jealous! -I'm still waiting for my Bog Brown Box to arrive... 6 months to go
Good luck and have fun with your build!

OK, sometimes I get these crazy ideas that I never actually follow up on, but I like to share with friends. Here is something that popped to mind the other day...
I am currently putting together my first set of armor. I am on the waiting list for an ATA Kit. It will be 6+ months until my big brown box arrives. However, I was told there isn't a wait for a set of black Shadowtrooper armor.
Now, the Shadowtroopers are pretty cool looking, but they are not "my thing", so I'm going to wait for a white kit instead of jumping on the black armor now. But, the thought of black armor lead me to my silly, non-cannon, idea.
I would like to build "Negative Trooper" armor. What I mean by "negative", is, like in a film negative, where everything that is white is black, and everything that is black is white.
So, picture if you will, a regular TK armor build, but instead of a black under suit, you were a white under suit. Instead of a black holster, you have a white holster. Instead of black gloves, you wear white gloves. And on the bucket, the mic tips are white, and you have a white band on the forehead. You would need a white next guard, and so on and so on and so on...
I've taken an image of a TK and ran it through photoshop to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
Now, I don't have the extra cash to build this suit, and I'm not sure what I would do with it, but still, it's a crazy idea that crossed my mind, and I wanted to share.
Any thoughts?

Hi Mike~
I too am new to trooping. I am in the process of building my first TK set or armor as well. (Actually, I'm still waiting for my big brown box to arrive).
Here's what I did... After reading the forums and getting a basic idea of what's what, I reached out to some of the 501st members who live in my area. I had some great conversations that gave me insight, and confidence, about jumping into all of this. The 501st members I've met have all been very friendly and helpful, and willing to answer even the dumbest of questions.
Hope this helps~

I'm building my first set of armor, and I want to do everything right. I haven't seen anything more "right" then this! Please put me on the list as well!
Much Appreciated!

Thanks for all the hellos~
Well, I am now officially on the waiting list now for an ATA Kit.
Any recommendations what I can do in the meantime to get ready? I'm trying to put together a "shopping list" of what I will need to be ready the day the armor arrives. Let me know what you think I will need.
Thanks!

Though, I'm more of a Shipyard man myself. Another local brew of note. Give it a try!

I'm Doing It, I'm Doing It!

Hi there!
For many years now, I've been saying to myself "I should build a set of Stormtrooper Armor and join the 501st. That looks awesome!". This thought has been in the back of my head for far too long.
Well, I'm not usually one for New Years resolutions, but this year I made a list of things I hope to accomplish in 2013. And sure enough, getting a set of armor together joining the 501st was on top of that list.
I've spent the last few weeks reading and learning, and trying figure out the steps I need to take to accomplish this goal. Becoming active here in the FISD forum seems something I should be doing to get to where I want to be!
I've also reached out to some local members of the New England Garrison. We've swapped some emails back and forth, and talked on the phone. I am more then confident that this resolution is "doable", and I am more then excited to get started!
Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself, and to say hello. I look forward to the days ahead that I will be spending on FISD.

How to assemble accurate stormtrooper armor

Great Videos. Cant wait for more!
Here's the question I have... How many hours does it take to build a set of armor?
I ask because I was expecting to receive my "big brown box" in September, but have recently learned that now, it wont delivered until October. My son was really hoping that I would have the armor together in time for Halloween (as was I!). Just wondering if, say, it arrives a week before Halloween, do you think a first time builder like myself will have the armor together in time to go trick-or-treating?
(I've saved a weeks of vacation time for the build. Told the boss that once my box arrives, I wont be in for the next week, so I have the free time to work day and night on the build.)
Just curious what you think. Thanks for the feedback!
