  1. I did a combo of button snaps and velcro on a home-made, adjustable suspender rig. I used an elastic cross-strap in the back and an adjustable cross-strap in the front for stability. All of the buckles and tri-glides are from REI.

  2. The chest plate mod is next. I'll get more use out of that hobby iron.

The thighs took a lot of trial and error (and first degree burns--still love that heat gun though). Someday, I'd like to swap them out with AP or TE ones when I get more costume $.

I don't get to try out the new gear this weekend for TCW events...Mrs. TK-9820 is working, so I'm on kid watch. :(

  3. Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. I could not have done this without the several hours of research and help I got from everyone here. This site is outstanding because of what every member puts into it.

It was a 5 month process due to my ability to only work in small increments.

I'll be taking more close-up detail photos soon for Elite status. I'll double check the requirements first.

Thanks for the welcome to the CCG Thaynerd.

  4. TK-9820 reporting for duty. Status: rookie.

Here's my heavily modded FX lite kit with AP shoulder bells, modded MRCE helmet, maker of things resin blaster and self-made leather holster. Belt is white canvas. Butt plate has been separated. Side gaps are closed with ABS panels. Ab buttons are gray and blue.

Any critique or comments would be appreciated so I can keep working on this.

  5. Incredible lenses! Super fast delivery! The new Emerald shade looks great.

I added a little heat to curve them to my MRCE bucket. Some careful drilling made them fit ok. They were the last pieces I needed before shipping off my 501st application photos.

Emerald green, non-see through, flush fit lenses shown:

    The big difference in color:

Excellent visual clarity with no distortion.

    Thanks Smitty!

  6. If you paint the inside of a MR CE helmet black, will it eliminate the need to swap out lenses for darker green ones? This would be for the purposes of 501st application process.

I used matte black Plasti-kote and it seemed to give the effect of darkened lenses in various lighting conditions. My other completed mods on this helmet so far have been: 1) filed down mold join along the frown/jaw area 2) filled in jaw gap 3) chopped down ears 4) added new blue tube stripe decals

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry if this question is redundant. I might have missed the answer somewhere.

  7. I made this holster this afternoon for my nearly finished TK project. It was made to fit a resin E-11 that shows up from time to time on the big auction site. I dyed and sealed 4-5 oz cowhide leather, hand-stitched it, and added tan straps that will attach under my canvas belt with screw posts.

Got some questions to throw out to the veterans:

    1) Do the proportions look ok? (I based it off a screen capture of the one Mark Hamill wore)

    2) Are there supposed to be rivets on any of the corners where the stitching is?

    3) For future 501st and Elite status consideration, does it matter if the straps are tan or black?

I can tweak this thing after getting some feedback. Anything helps. Thanks for looking.

  8. Thanks so much for the friendly greetings!

The armor set I picked up is from an ebay seller, Trooper Supply. It looks like FX armor being that the buttplate is still attached to the back plate. Also, it came with all black abdomen buttons. Very clean, very shiny and very crisp details nonetheless.

My goal is to someday make ANH Elite status if my final setup is approved by the 501st (Central California Garrison hopeful).

Already began work on the adjustable elastic strapping pieces for starters. I'll try to photo document the progress.

Thanks again for the warm welcome...
