  1. Just saw this... Would have loved to purchase this. Can you give more details on how you made them and where you picked up the materials?

Sorry, just caught this post. The elastic material, marine vinyl, sew on velcro, button snaps and adhesive industrial velcro for the strap sections are available at any fabric store. The plastic loop locks and tri-glides were bought at REI.

Assemble the strapping parts in a "H" formation according to your comfort level as seen in the first photo. You'll need a sewing machine with a durable needle to attach the vinyl pieces to the loop locks and elastic sections.

Look at my member gallery photos to see how I made the ABS button snap pieces.

    Hope this helps.

  2. I use the same Home Depot gloves. I wear thin cotton gloves underneath for sweat control. Here's a pic with the packaging so others will know what to look for:

I carry thin, black latex hospital type gloves in my armor crate as back-ups. I actually needed them on a recent troop because I left one chem glove at home.

  3. These suspenders are similar to the ones I made for myself. They are made of heavy duty 2" wide adjustable elastic straps with two sets of cross straps. The front cross strap has an adjustable quick release buckle system. These suspenders are secured to the ab/back plate pieces with button snaps and industrial velcro pieces that are included. The ABS button snap plates have a slightly curved shape for maximum surface contact when gluing them to the armor (E-6000 is recommended).

***Note: these were designed for a slightly taller trooper 5'11" to 6'02" height range. If you are shorter, they can be adjusted further by positioning the rear straps lower on the back plate.

$24.00 delivered within the continental U.S. PM regarding international shipping rate adjustment.

I'll trade for any 501st & Rebel Legion patches I don't already have. Just deduct $4.00 per patch off the price for each patch and paypal any remaining balance (6 patches = even trade). Please PM me first if you'd like to trade.

Feel free to PM or post here if you have questions. Thanks for looking.

  4. If you can't find a shorter chest plate, you can mod an FX chest plate to better fit you. This is what I did for mine:

    1) I heated the the upper part with a heat gun and bent the shoulder straps back. I rested the piece on an upholstered dress form to mold it uniformly.

    2) I shaved about an inch off the neckline.

I think there are pictures of this in my member photo gallery. (If the gallery still works)

The next thing to do is trim the lower edge of your chest plate and give it a return. Haven't done it yet, but I plan to. There is a popular tutorial in the how-to section.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Thank you very much for the Elite status approval. It's truly an honor.

I totally forgot to take an action shot, so I had a great excuse to suit up again.

Very nice submission. I think you are all set except for the blaster. That thing has to go, and if you just send it to me, I will dispose of it properly. :D :D
Sure Scott, I'll ship the blaster to you...in exchange for a decomished Sterling. :P
  6. Here are my photos for ANH Elite status consideration. They begin with overall photos and will go, more or less, from head to toe to blaster. Thanks for looking.

  7. ... Yeah it’s easy to tell the elite troopers from non elite troopers. I’m trying to get more people to follow in my foot steps in my garrison. No worries though. There might be another one in my garrison soon. Cough...Cough...Eugene...Cough!

Haaa! I get the hint, Thayne. I gotta take those close-up pics and sort the others this weekend for sure and then send in the elite application. I spent too much time steaming the jedi suit and dolling up my wig for this event.

  8. If this helps, let's keep this in mind. Most of these kids have more hope and optimism bundled up in their pinkie toes than in the entire body of an average Joe. That's what makes them stronger than any of us could strive to be. One of our purposes is to add a little joy to the mix.

  9. I believe the mod Smitty was talking about and the one I intend to do involves reducing the downward arc of the lower left and right corners. I think they would look a little more AP style this way.

If I'm off Smitty, let me know.

I had to shave off some length from the top and re-shape the shoulder arches to bring the plate above the ab buttons. I have a short torso, I think. I photo-documented this process in my FISD member photo gallery.
