I would start at the bottom left side of the pic and work up, slowly to match the line at the top.

If I was you I would clean up all the marking and take a good look. Then i would slowly take off excess with a dremel or slowly with an x-acto blade. But a little at a time. It's not a race. round it off.

I use foam that is firm but for giving. since i have lost weight I had to Mcgyver my armor to stay on.

Yes the shoulder bells need to be trimmed down, and also the strapping i see underneath them is to wide from what I can see. The chest piece is a little low, See if you can adjust it with out trimming and if not you will have to do some careful trimming at the bottom.

trim a little at a time, measure 2,3,4 times and cut once. Also take your time ask a lot of questions it's not a race.
