Good thing you got practice helping with my kit, huh? And you can experiment with mine some more, and soon hopefully, but I will be getting together with Ken tomorrow...
-
I always look for deactivated Sterlings when go to Gun Shows.
I have been looking there as well. We have a really good Gun Show in Dulles, VA about five/six times a year, and I have seen the parts kits once or twice, asking $500 per kit, but Always missing a part or two, so you would have to buy two or more kits to build a complete blaster...
-
Deacs are legal in the USA as well, just prohibitively expensive (a cut up kit starts at $500USD, and I saw a completed one asking over $1K recently...that is a complete set of armor...) so I just go with the Doopys...I did find JUST the stock from a Deac, that I was going to use on my next Doopys build, on eBlech recently, but I was sniped at the last second...

Due to it's rarity, provenance and condition (appears good overall) you could even sell it to a collector (preferably within the 501st of course) for a pretty penny, enough to finance several other costumes props etc. Or do your research, find a reputable auction house that deals in props and costumes,NOT EBLECH, and you could be in good shape...Not a sermon, just a thought...

I have a background in SE makeup, so I could help on that front. Where are you located?

I use spray-on Plasti-dip on all my helmets, especially if I have any fiberglass or ends of screws inside...

Thank you!
I just used the a realy small bit that comes in the dremel kit, like this:
and I used the Dremel on a low to medium setting, and was just REALLY careful...as for a torch, go buy a cheap kitchen torch. that is what I used...like this one, $10 at the store (about 6.30 UK Pounds):

If you are using aluminum bar, heat it a little with a torch right before and while bending it. be gentle so as not to melt the metal, and you should have good results...here is my build http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19500&hl=&fromsearch=1

Just read this thread from start to finish. Absolutely fascinating. My 85-year-old Step-Father is a retired electrical engineer who worked on military comm and radar equipment in the 50's and later on the Gemini and Apollo programs, and I am going to share this thread with him and see if he has any insight....

Looked even better in person....I am working on mine now, and I'll post some stuff later...

Wasn't that douche on America's Most Wanted at some point?

That's one of the "greeblies". When my kit arrived, the "u-bend" for the stock was broein in transit (a lot can happen coming across the pond). They sent me a new on, but while I was waithing i took care of everything else. I ordered the full resin kit when I contacted them about the part, and they shipped them together. They arrived yesterday, and the first coat of primer is drying on the stock as I type tis. I should have it on there by Monday...
-
Well, I am just about done. Just some weathering and greeblies to do. Then I will start on my DoopyDoos Full E-11 Resin Kit...
-
what about helmets?
-
I just got the same kit in black last week, and i will be watching, as i am a nervous noob...
-
Run the wire under your neck seal and it should be invisible...
-

-
Awesome, thanks!

I really made out good. I stumbled accross TupperwareTK through sheer dumb luck and My Shadow Stormtrooper AM Armor is supposed to arrive on Teusday! I wish I had seen this sooner, it would have saved me a ton of searching and worrying...
-
I am supposed to get my armor (Shadow Stormtrooper) on Teusday and most of the rest of my bits and pieces by the end of the week. My goal is to be 501st approved by Free comic book day, but I am realistic and I know i will be ready by Celebration!
-
Hello all. First question. I know that the Spec Ops forum is the main group for Shadow Stormtroopers, but are they (We soon) also included here? If so Hello! I should have my armor sometime Teusday, and most of the rest of my bits and pieces by the end of the week. I will be 501st approved before celebration, but I am shooting for Free Comic Book Day...
If not, sorry to bother and I'll be over on the Spec Ops Board...
