  1. Thanks to everyone for their comments. It sounds like any generally acceptable 'style' armor would be agreeable (meaning approvable) as the basis for an EU Trooper, so long as the obvious respects are paid to clear and distinct characteristics. Safe Troopin'!
  2. Upon looking over the CRLs for the EU Troopers, it seems as though there is no definitive answer about which armor configuration (ANH, ESB, ROTJ) they are based on. The pictures included with the CRLs lean towards ANH, but the text does not narrow the requirments down to that level of detail. Some EU Trooper configurations could be derived from the time of the particular appearance in the story line - but I'm asking if there is an established accepted basis for these costumes. Thanks for the help!
  3. I figured that painting/staining the white TK boots was the most common solution for accuracy. Then again, with all the resourcefulness of this costuming community, I thought it was quite possible someone had success commissioning some colored boots.. Thanks all for your responses.
  4. Excellent feedback - thank you all for your responses!
  5. Greets! I have no doubt that this is a question as old as the TK costuming hobby, but I would like some community feedback on the pros/cons of having a screen- accurate type of strapping/donning system for your armor, vice the newer type of systems with elastic straps and heavier snaps. For those of you who troop or have trooped with both, could I please get your take on this? Also, what kinds or suits are you trooping with - HIPS or ABS, maker - as this bears on the effectiveness of the strapping in question for a specific application. Your time/opinion/advice is greatly appreciated. - Andy
  6. Greets! I know the goal is usually to seek out a maker/retailer who makes a great accurate product at an inexpensive price point (thanks TK Boots!), but I am trying to find a maker who might be willing to make accurate TK boots in other colors (specifically red for the Magma Trooper). As demand for 'off-color' TK boots is probably too low to spur a mass run, I expect to have to pay for a unique pair. If anyone has had success with a custom boot maker, please drop me a line or chime in here. Safe Troopin'! - Andy
  7. Awesome workmanship... I wonder how many other Death Troopers there are out there. Thanks!
  8. Awesome. Definitely will help with the prothestics (exposed flesh)... Located in Arizona... Dune Sea Garrison. Currently deployed, but I'll be home in a couple weeks. Feel free to shoot me a PM with your e-mail... Thanks! - Andy
  9. Greets, all! I know the Death Trooper is a fairly uncommon TK mod, but I'd like - to try to put one together, ideally by Halloween (shocking, I know). I was hoping some of you out there who've already messed around with this might be willing to render assistance/suggestions/advice/etc. It would be especially helpful if someone could chime in with modding & detailing/painting tutorial/suggestions. I'd also be glad to talk to anyone who might be interested in collaborating on a commission basis (I need another 3 or 4 hours each day as it is). If interested, please shoot me a line. Thanks! - Andy
  10. Tom - Thank you for the info, and for pointing out my incorrect use of the tk ID#. When I first registered, in my ignorance I registered under the "231" - my 501st ID is 5224. I will get on to changing that. By the way, you all saved me from a bad bid - thanks! - Andy
  11. Thanks for the advice! It just seemed too good to be true...
