  1. Some people like sci-fi and SW armors, blasters and sabers with a ton of accurate greeblies, others like custom cars with powerful engines, others like drinking a beer with their buddies, others like fishing or hiking, others like all of the above. Then there are others who enjoy reading philosophy, and of course others who are barely able to read the yogurt label. The differences in opinions regarding everything (as long as they are decent and respectful), including SW accuracy and thriving or not for it, is what it makes it fun. If everyone would look for the same things in the world, that world would be bland and uninteresting.

  2. I think I'm going to order the "door catch/latch" greeblie in metal and see how it is. The scope rail would be cool to have in metal, it's quite a difference compared to plastic, mine is metal. And the U-tracks price is huge, indeed better to make your own. Need to take a look at his other offerings, like the ANH E-11 cylinders.

  3. I'm not part of the 501st per say, I was just stating stormtroopers was a name, a title, and shouldn't relate to a specific armor, since stormtroopers (merchandise etc.) are in no-way directly lined to that of the movie look.

Thinking stormtroopers as of something only seen in movies, is "arrogant" and if close the hypocritical, since again, Ralph Mcquirre first visualized it. as most of the people on here don't even have the right to say whats a stormtrooper and what's not.

What I'm saying is, i don't think stormy's should go by the 501st's definition and preferred look.

Stormtroopers are a title/name. They don't have to be canon-looking, to be a stormtrooper

Let's put it this way, from my own point of view as a dedicated prop collector. What appeared on screen (no matter if we're talking about lights, paint, warps/dents etc. or lack of those) is what I'm interested in getting. Personally I don't care about any games, comics, prints, posters, or any kind of artistic interpretations outside the 3 OT movies themselves when talking about my props. Any time a figure, statue, and especially a 1:1 armor/helmet lacks accuracy I'm totally aware of it. There are collectibles that have no accuracy at all, and some which are quite accurate. That doesn't mean I don't collect less accurate stuff. But when talking about 1:1 armor and helmet I want to be as accurate as possible with the warts and asymmetry there.

The thing with 501st is that they strive for accurate stuff, not 100%, but still more than allowing a round silver thermal detonator with lights to be added on a regular Stormtrooper armor. That's why 501st have their rules, which you need to obey if wanting to join their ranks. Outside 501st, no one says you cannot make a pink tutu Stormtrooper with swan wings on its back and with elephant ears instead of the regular Stormtrooper ears. But you will not be able to join 501st with that, no matter how many prizes your artwork will receive, unless you get in a parallel universe where pink tutus are a must for Stormtroopers. ;)

  4. Pretty sure if you read his threads, Andy is not making any more. All the latest builds have been shape ways or custom builds

When coming back Andy said that he intends to make more cylinders as well as the E-11 stands. Question is when he will come back...

  5. I've been dreaming of a real Sterling build, too! I think buying in UK currency and shipping would likely make it prohibitively expensive, though, so unless I stumble across a deal on this side of the pond...

You don't want to get this from UK if you are in US, it is against the law. Get one locally, demilled by your state laws.

  6. If its a EFX/Master replica ect.. there's no wonkiness because it was completely idealized.

Not true. There are 2 variants of the MR and EFX. There is the MR/EFX LE which is made of fiberglass and which retains the asymmetrical look and is a Hero version (though still idealized) - this is the expensive helmet that comes with limited edition plaque, COA, stand, and then there is the MR CE/EFX PCR which is perfectly symmetrical, made of ABS and no stand or plaque and much cheaper.
