  1. Hey Trooper (to be),

There are a few of us hiding in plain sight here in Toronto. Our next gig is at Wizard World Toronto ComiCon April 14th - 10am - 7pm, April 15th - 11am - 6pm.

We'll be there and have a table going. Come by and say hi - always looking for good troopers (and these 2 troublesome droids).

    Pyew! Pyew!

  2. Hey champ,

I stuffed one of those into an eFX bucket that I picked up cheap.

I know a few in my troop that have bucket envy as a result.

Comfy as all hell and still fits a few fans in there to compensate for the lining heating up from your head.

The material is synthetic and doesn't really get that hot. Padding makes it feel snug.

It took a little messing around with before it fit in. In the end I had to cut it and develop a velcro system to hold it in snug.

Shoot as many questions as you want on the install.

  3. I have that same padding in my efx helmet and its great. i did have to cut it up to get it to fit though because its made for an fx helmet. heres a pic of it

Thanks for the pic - nice to see what it'll look like installed. I see that there's not a lot of space after that goes in - i was going to install the helmet fan right below chin - seems to be a little space there - does the helmet liner pad it up there too much? I have the eFX too - how much cutting we talking about? Where if you don't mind too?

    Thanks G-zilla

  4. And now for my first troop - coming up this Friday.

Kinda glad its only a night and not a full out CON.

Special Thanks To TK4261 for his awesome fans

    - even one of those bad boys makes a huge difference.

Added some more lining from a scrapped motorcycle helmet and a piece of this and that and BAM!

Pretty much got rid of all the feedback.

AT the end of it I was kind of reluctant to take the bucket off - so comfy and breezy!

    Had a few test runs to see how long I could keep this thing on comfortably;

    (before TK4261's fans - tops 2 hours)

I was beginning to wonder if I'd make a long event.

Can't wait til Friday - until then - PICS!

  5. For padding I went to Walmart and found a kids tee-ball helmet. Sure the helmet is small but the padding is good. Rip it out and cut it to fit in your bucket. I put velcro in my helmet and velcro on the back of the pads so I can remove them if I need to.

Thanks AC - I'll take a look at Walmart this weekend. I've also looked into Military grade adjustable suspension pads - might have a local surplus that sells them.

Looks like I might start a thread for helmet padding soon...

    Ken out

  6. Dooooooood, an eFX pales in comparison to the AP, no need to do that at all.

I too have a large noggin (7 5/8")and all you have to do is take a box knife and trim the bottom out a bit. Go slow and mark a 1/8" line at a time until you get the desired result.

LOL - Aren't you a little tall for a Stormtrooper?

Awh...too late - the hunk of crap is on its way - but I'm sacrificing AP beauty for a sweet pimped out bucket.

I've seen a few threads on some nicely done buckets (knee pads used to line helmet + some visual effects) and will need the space.

I'm keeping both buckets - but probably wear the FX for long hauls.

Plus the finish on the FX should match up closer to the armor.

    Ken out

  7. One of it's many uses, just make sure you bring a very long straw ;)

So after hanging with Lou and talking about the bucket

    - I learned that the "tear" below the right eye and the slight lack of symmetry indicate a real good bucket.

Only problem is I can barely get the thing on my head - snug fit once on though - my ears feel like bruised stumps.

I ordered an eFX cause its symmetrical and looks a little more rugged for trooping and most importantly it doesn't kill my ears.

    - I'm going to work the lenses for sure (opaque) - but are people going to bust my chops for this?

Already have a mini camera set up for mount inside - and some sweet fans from TK 4261.

    - not sure if I'll mic it yet - but will be looking at the wireless jobs from Jim.

I saw a pretty sweet padding job in another TK bucket - but can't seem to find the same knee padding inserts he found - any suggestions?

Well - more waiting - looks like stuff arrives next monday or so.

AND... Official request for TK hood has been submitted to GML - soon my name and TK # could be gracing the "Newest Recruits" section of 501st.com!

    OKay - over & out!
