Oooops. Sorry. and I always complain about people not reading the whole post. My bad.
No worries. I just wanted to let people know that at least I corrected that. Thanks again for your advice.

You might want to raise the belt as well. The belt should come to just below the ab dots. It looks like in the photo yours is about 2 inches short.
Your shoulder straps are a bit long as stated above. The square end on the back side of the straps should/could be removed to be more screen accurate. That would allow you to bring the back up higher to start and then work from there.
As stated by Paul, don't do anything until you have the placement of the chest and back correct first. With those adjustments you should be closer to where you want to be.
Belt was already raised and corrected; I mentioned that at the end of my post. I'll start to look at it and see about trimming the shoulders. Thanks.

I finished my armor at an AP yesterday and it needs some tweaking. One main concern is squaring the chest to match the back. We had used a heat blower gun to bring the chest to curve it by the shoulders to give a more form-fitting curve. Perhaps it was not done enough. But we are not close to where the AP was. Should I take a bit off the side of the chest to see if that does it? What do people recommend? We do have a heat iron we just bought but have never used it and are not sure where to curve it. Thanks! And for those that would mention the belt is too low, don't worry but that was already corrected.

Are you clamping the parts properly? Normally theres not that glue oozing out. You might be using too much glue too. My E6000 is clear, not yellow like your pictures.
You should squeeze 2 long beads of E6000 along one surface, then the same on the other. Spread it flat (don't spread it to the edge, leave about 1/8" before the edge.). Once you spread with a popsicle stick on both surfaces, let it tack up a few mins, then use spring clamps. This will press both parts together with little or no gap and only a few drops of glue will ooze out. You can simply rub these off after they have cured.
If your biceps need to be that size and the return is getting in the way, just trim it down.
You can remove cured cover strips by forcing a flat chisel between the armor and cover strip.
Thanks Terry. And my E6000 is clear, must be the lighting and I probably did use too much. And I didn't use a popsicle stick to spread it out first. I probably will take some of the return edge off. I will try to post some good pics of the return edge, so you know what I'm working with. And we're not using cover strips, but the overlay method. Also I forgot to sand first before gluing; perhaps that also lead to my dilemma. But I think the return edge is my biggest problem right now. BTW I just got my RT-mod bucket

Thanks for posting Terry, I might have to do that on my AM.

Just wondering what type of strapping systems/suspenders does everyone get and where do you buy them? What works best? I need to get something soon to finish my armor in time for a couple of Christmas parades on 12/4. Thanks!

Thanks for the info and pics, helps me with building my AM kit. Now I just have to see about a suspender strapping system. Maybe my local Kohl's will have what you got.

Welcome Mike! I live in Lake Mary (kinda half way between Orlando and Daytona). I'm currently working on my AM kit, slowly but surely. Of course looking for work gets in the way. Good luck and hope to meet up with you soon.

LOL....me too, they are lethal sometimes
LOL, yeah me too. I had issues with them last night (just got them in) where a couple shattered from flying into one another. It was crazy

Thanks for the tips, guys. I was just wondering what kind of setter and tools do I need for the line 24 snaps? I saw something about a mallet and an anvil. Thanks again!
Is this okay? ----

Hey guys,
I just got my AM kit but have no idea where to start. I lined up the forearms (the inner fitting into the outer) and it seems like I have a lot to trim, but don't know where to measure to know how much to take off and where; the length is fine though. Also I tried to line up the biceps and the inner won't fit into the outer. I assume that is how its supposed to be since the outer has the molded cover strips so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions? I've looked at the AM tutorials but I don't see anything for what I need. Its just that I'm not mechanically inclined and have never done anything like this before. I know I can do it, I just need some help on where to start and for the 2 aforementioned issues. Thanks!

What type of snaps should I get for my white AM TK? I see there's brass, nickel, etc. And is 100 good?
-
Glad to hear it Carlos and it looks great! I won't get mine till about Thanksgiving; waiting sucks!
-
You're going to need more than that. At a minimum - I'd buy a pack of 20.
Thanks, what's the best type/size to get? I see discs/squares with different pulling force.

How many are recommended to get? I would assume at least 4 going by the above post.

No idea as of yet as I get my armor today. Not sure if this matters but I do plan on using the E6000 to glue the armor halves together.
I'd say use no velcro at all and use the new, SA strapping system
Thanks Karin, I'll look into that.

I was at Walmart last night and see they have black industrial strength velcro but they have white too. I assume the black but was not sure. Also was wondering how much of it to get? I see they have 15' x 2" and 5' x 2. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I was wondering with the non-latex handguards; where is the correct placement to adhere the handguards to the gloves? Should the top of the handguard align with the bent knuckles when making a fist? I do not want these too low or too high. Thanks for your help!

Laugh it up, fuzzball.
Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?

I would like to start making my first tk armor. Where to start? What to start? Should I start with something small or go all in? It look like alot of work, but the output will look great. Please post links where I should start...
Thanks

Hey Bryon, welcome! Your ATA kit has gotten off to a great start, good luck! I'll also be at the armor party on Sat. But I've yet to order my armor though as I'm waiting for it to come into stock.

As a New Yorker myself (albeit living in FL but you know how it is, we may have moved from NY but that does not mean we're not still New Yorkers), that day has changed us immensely as well as all Americans and those around the world. I remember whenever I would drive up to see my girlfriend (now wife) in Carmel how whenever I would drive over the Throgs Neck Bridge, I would look at the city skyline and see the Towers. I missed seeing that and looking at the skyline looking so empty. My biggest regret is never going up into them. And I just want to add (which I'll be playing later) some songs on Bruce Springsteen's The Rising were written for 9/11.
This is Into the Fire by him.
I have the utmost respect for the FDNY, NYPD, PA, those on Flight 93 and at the Pentagon among other rescue workers on that fateful day. I will never forget what they did and what happened that day. What gets me is that I'm the only one on my block flying the flag (then again I'm always flying it).
