  1. I've perused the how to's, tutorials and ran a search for it but I can't find what type of paint is the best to use. I've seen Humbrol being mentioned and I see they have a few US stores where you can buy, but I'd like to spray paint the entire helmet, even though I have decals and I just want to know if there is specific color of gray, black and blue. Figured this topic was as good as any to post this under.
  2. As you may or may not know, I'm currently working on my FX kit. I've started with the 'sleeves' part and have completed one. It was some trial and error because it's almost to small to fit around my forearm and still have suitable areas to glue. Which brings up several questions I hope can get answered. 1. How much surface area of the plastic is the bare minimum needed for the glue to make a secure bond? For example the forearms, when attaching the pieces and you glue along the long part, I've got it glued at 3/8''. The other side is velcroed with a oh, about 1/4'' strip. Because the two pieces didn't close to nice and if I tried velcroing it like that it would pop open soon, I heated that up under boiling water, for 30 seconds and bent it to line up with the other side. Unfortunately, it warped a tad in the middle, but it shouldn't be to noticeable and it's on the back side. 2. Are there any specific guidelines or measurements for the individual pieces? Again, using the forearm armor as an example, when I put it on and bend my arm so that my hand is in motion toward my head, like removing the helmet, the end goes over my wrist bone. I think that it will knock up against the hand armor. So is there a typical length that pieces should ideally fit? Like from above the wrist bone to the curve for the bend should be such and such a length according to your arm length? If this forearm piece IS to long, I now have to cut down the wrist area on a band saw because the two halves are glued. I worry about this. This is why I've halted my build of the kit, I was going to begin the second sleeve, but I want to make sure that necessary cuts are done before glueing. If you have any further insight to this or know someone who does, let me know. I need all the help I can get. Thanks.
  3. Dave, I'm new here and just got my kit last Friday. I've been watching your videos and have them saved to my favorites. Let me just say that I really appreciate you taking the time to do those videos and helping us other noobs out. Not only do you have good info, but watching them is almost like having you right there, keeping me on the straight path. So, a huge well done to you. Congrats on your enlistment and take care of yourself. I was in the Army, long ago, so I appreciate all the men and women in uniform. Cheers.
  4. Got a couple questions for you guys, hopefully they can be answered. I have seen the Underarmour brand and the sports store here sells the cold weather ones right now. But they all have a seam that goes down the arms and legs that I don't like. I did find a top there, my size even, no seams, solid black...but no pants. The pants that they had were a different shade of black, almost a gray in comparison. I do have the Lycra dive suit I just received, unfortunately it's to big in some parts. The lady said a 5x would be for me. Now, while it fits pretty snug in the stomache and chest, it is way to long and bunches up. So it's not tight really in the legs. It also bunches up in the arms. I thought maybe I could take it to Tailor and have it altered. I just don't know what the results would be. So I've been searching some other sites to look for unitards. So on your Underarmour brand tops and bottoms, do you guys have a visible seam on them? Does anyone know what material would be good for alterations? I don't know how forgiving Lycra or nylon is, compared to other material. I'm gonna take the skin I got to the Tailor today and see what she thinks, but any further advice you guys have would be nice.
