  1. I have most of the bugs worked out and I submitted my application to the 501st. Thank you for all of your help everyone.
  2. Thanks, I have everyone on these forums to thank. I have read every post and every tutorial and came up with the best solutions. I purchased everything from people on these forums. I am going to apply for EIB status shortly after I am accepted into the 501st. This is a great hobby!
  3. Thanks for the tips. I will definitely apply them all. I wore my armor for about 15 minutes and the air conditioning was on in the house. My under armor was sweaty just from that brief time. Is this normal? I never imagined it would be so hot. I guess I better drink lots of water before a long troop.
  4. Please take a look and tell give me any tips that you have. I know I need to do the following. Trim the back of the thighs to make them more even and comfortable. Make sure I velcro my shins straight next time. (I just slapped them on.) Still need to do side shims Still need to finish gloves I may need to extend the elastic holding my back plate to my chest. Should this be lower? Figure out how to keep the but plate from looking crooked. I dont have the strap that goes from the but plate to the front on yet. Maybe it will look better when i do this. Does my belt need to be higher in the back? I realize my finish strips on the legs are to wide but I am going to live with them. I will work on the side shims and take more pics after I fix everything. Anything else?
  5. Even if he comes through and takes care of you. In the end, this is bad service and unacceptable. Thanks for letting us know about this guy!
  6. That is something I never thought about. Thanks.
  7. I know there is another recent thread right now but I did not wan't to hijack his thread as my question is different. I am about to put my rivets in the side left side to create the clam shell. If I go even on both sides, I will have a 3" shim on each side. My question is, should I just put the shell together on the left (butt them together) and put 6" shim on the right or should I even them up with 2 3" shims (1 on each side). I am trying to make the left side look more screen accurate. I tried to suck my stomach in and have no shims but unfortunately at age 42....No luck! LOL
  8. I am in the finishing stages of putting my snaps and straps together. I finished my E11 (still need D ring) and got a little excessive with the weathering. What do you guys think? I can always repaint it and start over. Feel free to be critical. Here are a few pics so far.
  9. I have never seen that. Thanks for sharing. Awesome!
  10. Thanks that is just what I was looking for. What type of rivets are those? I have a rivet gun and the rivets look more like the ones holding your drop boxes on. The ones on your belt look different. And if you remember, could you tell me what size?
  11. I have searched all over and the more I search the more I get confused. I am trying to do this as accurate as possible and I have a few questions. I am building with an AP kit and going ANH stunt. Some of my questions are more about the best way to do it and not so much accuracy. Drop boxes: What color are the straps? I have seen both used on these boards. (black and white) Holster: What is screen accurate? rivets? 2 0r 4? (i am using brown leather straps to attach it to the belt) Button covers on front of belt: do I put the snaps on this area and cover the snaps or should I just glue them on for looks only. and glue the snaps on the inside? This seems like it should be one of the easiest parts of the build but it is the most confusing for me.
  12. I think I would do more damage than good changing them. They are glued on pretty good. I was trying to stay even all the way around. I should have done it like you said and had bigger ones in the back.
  13. Well I am about 185 and 5'10". My thighs are kinda big so I was trying to get a perfect fit. I didnt think going with 30MM strips looked to big till I put the cartridge on the right knee. Now I think they are to big. (the strips are wider than the cartridges) What do you guys think? I guess it doesn't matter cause they are on there now. Will something like this prevent me from being accepted to the 501st? I still have some trimming to do on the armor and get it all strapped up and ready to go.
  14. I took a break from my TK build and I started on my E11. I have the hasbro blaster with the doopydoos kit. I have all the parts on, the scope rail dremeled out and tomorrow I will start painting. I am applying a silver base coat then A brass/copper color coating to the scope, then I will paint it all black. My question is, what tools work best for weathering, scotch brite pad? sand paper? I cant find a tutorial on weathering an E11.
  15. No problem, I wasn't very clear on what I was asking. Is any glue applied anywhere to have the ammo knee plate applied or just the 2 rivets?
  16. I was actually talking about what you need to cut off. I am working on the knee currently and knew that it was rounded. I havent gotten to the belt yet but I am glad you told me it wasn't rounded before I got to it. Thanks TKbondservnt 2392, that is some great info. And thanks to the rest of you also because I also needed the other info.
  17. What is the best way to round off the knee plate and belt. I want these parts to be perfect and I know someone out there has a trick. I am thinking of taking a glass or something and tracing around it. What have you used that is pretty accurate?
  18. I was wondering what gloves most of you are using. I got the accurate gloves with the holster when I purchased my AP kit about a month ago. I put these gloves on and my hands sweat immediately. Does anyone put holes in theirs or should I just find some cloth gloves and use these to wash the dishes? LOL cause that is what they look like. I can't imagine wearing these for any extensive amount of time.
  19. I decided to just leave it alone. It is not uncomfortable, just snug. I will just leave it as it is.
  20. Thanks for all of the advice so far. I have them together and they look great. I have another question. They almost fit me perfectly. However, I think they would be a little more comfortable if they were more round than oval. Has anyone ever warmed them up some way and rounded them out after they are put together? Or would this take away from the look. For example, if you look in them through the wrist hole, they look oval. I would like that to be round like my forearm is in circumfrance.
  21. I have decided I want to but the seams together. I have large forearms and want to know if the 15mm strip is standard? If I use a 17 or 18 mm is it going to make that much diff. I plan on using this to join the 501st and would like to know if this size is set in stone or just a reference. I have been reading many posts that say 15mm should be used for the strip. Thanks.
