I'm not a member of the Star Garrison yet either. I have FX armor but not all the pieces to be 501st accepted. Missing the O2 canister. Once I get the armor repaired, I would be willing to show it to you. I know it doesn't help you right now. But all I can do at the moment.

I know what your saying there.
I'm sure you have thought of this but just in case you haven't, I would also recommend you put this request out on the Star Garrison board as well. FISD is great but contacting the Garrisons direct will also help get you in contact with someone local.

thanks for the input dave... but i have tried to join their forum but i have to be a member of the 501st... they have this red notice at the bottom of the registration field that states:
"Please note: You must be a member of the 501st Legion or a future member to join these forums. People looking for Armor advice, please visit somewhere else."
so i am here looking for what ever i can ... it seems like they are pretty strict as to who joins the 501st... not just star garrison... the whole of 501st... i can understand why i guess, but... some of us who are ignorant to the ways of the troopers need sites like this to give them their info because we cant get on their site to ask questions... how does one become a "future member" if they cant even get on their site... this site seems more like home to me... when i have my armor i probably would like to join the star garrison, but i would be at this site majority of my time... we will see... thanks dave...

hi all... i have been a member of this site for a few months now and i have learned so much... you guys are all great... the problem i have is... i need to talk to some one face to face... i want to handle the armor to get a true feel of it... get some straight feed back as i ask the questions... as it is now... i have so many questions... i don't know where to start... i finally know what armor i would like or should i say what armor would work best for me... and where to get it... I'm hoping to get the headless FX kit and go from there (Paul- you gave me great info on the armor types)... you guys makes it sound so easy... and i know it isnt... the best part is it looks like so much fun... i was at the Star Wars Fan day at Plano, TX not too long ago and while i was there... i saw the 501st... i asked one of the guys where and how... i don't even know if i got the whole question out or not... he let me this site... i have no idea who he was or his designation... but i will be fore ever grateful... he was the first step to my goal of trooping... one day i would love to be at a convention and be in armor with you guys... i think i am in information overload... i keep reading and reading and i pick up something here and something there... i try to remember some of the details you through in... there is so much... but... it is one of the few site i come back to over and over... i re-read post... and i find new stuff everyday... i see every one else with a designation and i cant wait to have one of my own... what is sad is... i get excited every time i read something new... i get excited when i see someone get their designation... one day i will be there... so... all this just so i can ask if there are any star garrison members close to Abilene, Tx... i would love to talk...

I just had my tax return done... and unfortunately we have already allocated it to other stuff... you know.... like bills and things... who needs cable... or phone... or internet... wait a minute... ok... I need internet... food... I'm over weight as it is... water... well... I do get thirsty... ok... I would love to buy it... but... bills have to come first... good luck.... I’ll ck back in a couple of weeks... maybe I can do some squeezing and make something happen...

Well, as the poll shows, it looks to be the first weekend. I should also ask what people are willing to pay for two nights in Orlando. I am going probably no matter what, and I have a local member who is also interested.
Real life can wait, we are talking about Star Wars Weekends at Disney World!!!!
you know... i have a time share there in Orlando... just bought it so im not sure how it would work... i would not be able to make either dates but... i could perhaps get you all a cheaper rate at a our time share... i would need to look into it more... i think it can sleep up to 7 people... close quarters... its not far from disney... we plan on going in aug i think... maybe i can talk my wife into going early... :0)... i dont want to commit to anything yet... i need to find out more about my time share... if anything... this is just an idea...

I am 5'10 220 and the RT-mod armor suited me fine. I think it's a better option then having to buy FX and then having to buy a new bucket. I have some pics in the elite requests under TK 2327.

Thanks for the info... The RT mod might be the way i need to go... im all for saving a little money... from what i have been reading, the fx is a lot of work for something that might not be that accurate...
... then again... i just looked at the links from above (thanks Paul)... the armor looks pretty good... its so hard to decide...

here is a newbie question... how many kinds of armor are out there... reading through all the post i see you all talking about TK and FX armor... i gather that it depends on what movie i want to be more close to... i guess i never notice the differences...(blasphame i know...) can i get a break down of all types of armor/movie types there are? and i see a lot of people mixing buckets with armor... I'm sure that is a personal preferrence... ... pic would help too... so i can see the differences... I'm a large guy about 6 ft and around 235... (as some else posted I'm pear shaped) ... so I'm not sure what armor would be best... any help would be great...

What a great welcome... I appreciate what all have said and I do plan on moving forward with this armor and even more excited to know others are out there doing the same thing. Like VaderDave said, get the costume together now so when they are recognized I'm in like flynn... thanks for all the advise... oh and bezerkus--- i couldn't agree with you more on the Jedi knight thing... that would have been really cool... they did a little in the animated clone wars when obi wan had the trooper armor on... that was pretty cool... id like to see that at a convention... see you all around the message boards...

Hi all... another newbie joining the club... i was turned to this site from a member of the st i met in Plano TX at the Star Wars Fans Day... that was really cool... it was my first event. I met Dave Prowse, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Jeremy Bulloch, Shannon McRandle, and so many more. it was great. And the costumes, holy cow, great costumes... i only wish my batteries didn't die in my camera before i was able to take pics... i did get a few... Darth Raven was there... a Gamorian Guard was there... not to mention Darth Vader(both the original and others LOL)... it was a great time. My daughter went with me... she is an R2 lover... we even met the R2 builders club members who had two working R2's there... that was pretty cool too. Of course the 501st... the only club i cant wait to join. i do have a couple questions about armor... In all my research, i haven't found any Imperial Knights from the Dark Horse comic Legacy any where. So, my conclusion from that is, it could be pretty original of me to dress as one and i would get to carry a lightsaber at that... The question is, could I still be included in the Imperial Stormtrooper? Where do the Imperial Knight's fit in? They are the future of star wars. Plus, it looks like they would be easy armor to make. and cheaper too... What does the FISD say about this?

i dont have armor yet... but i think i will have the money pretty soon (tax return) and i hope i can talk my wife into letting me buy some armor with it... we will see... i will be getting in touch with you soon... i guess its good to have contacts...
