  1. I've been working very hard on my armour over the past week, here's the progress shots!!! I still need to trim the arm pieces, put in a hard hat liner in the helmet, touch up the paint on the helmet here and there, paint the AB buttons, and do the crotch fitting and belt, and detonator, my holster and neck seal are on their way and yeah a few bits and bobs, but I'm almost there, so close i can taste it! I think I'll also need to trim the leg pieces more, they are clicking and clanking when I walk, I don't want bits to start cracking off!
  2. it's not my work shop, I'm doing my build at DesTROYer's place, of the TAG forums. he's helping me out. but yeah he has a lot of different things floating about the work shop!
  3. -------------- here's a bit of late night build action.....
  4. true that mate, ESB all the way.
  5. Here's some progress shots of my AP kit guys, in the immortal words of gold leader: "almost there..."-------
  6. Here's a few progress shots of the bucket guys, It's pretty much finished, just have to perfect some of the paint lines, and add some foam to the inside, and get a hard hat liner. Oh and better lenses, and a speaker system, but this will do for now, tomorrow, legs! Oh and yeah it's my first kit, but I'm getting a LOT of help From DesTROYer of the Knifghtfall Squad here in Melbourne Australia, shout out to TROY!
  7. No more refreshing aus post and U.S postal websites every minute for updates on my armour's destination, at 10.30ish this morning, i got a door bell sounding through out the house, could this be it?!?! Yes a big bloke with a beard, holding a massive package just for me! Wait um, it was the kit, that sounded a little wrong, lol Here's a shot of it on the couch!
  8. if i lived in the states i would snap that up based on principal,i don't ride a motor bike, but it's just way too cool NOT to buy.
  9. Whats E6000? do i just walk into the hardware store and say "i need some E6000 glue" and they'll be all like "here ya go son, have fun!" lol I don't think so, does it have another name?
  10. thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to try and glue them tomorow, I'll let ya know how i go, rockin, dave.
  11. I just went to the hardware store (Bunnings) and they have never heard of Shoe Goo, is there any other glue that would suit this job? I'm in Australia, so Shoe goo might be called something different, what type of glue is it? all the glues i looked at, most of them said ideal for plastic, but they had a list of heaps of other materials they would be suitable for as well, so I'm a little confused.
  12. Hey guys, I want to glue some elastic straps to my hand plates to go around my gloves, because i don't want to use velcro, how do i do this? what type of glue should i use, how do i make it stick, do i have to clamp it and leave it over night? My hand plates are troop master ESB style hand plates made from the new flexible plastic. i have no idea. please help, cheers! Dave. -------
  13. I recently posted a similar thread on my local garrison forum, but I thought I would share my decision with my fellow FISD members as well! I've chosen my TK armour, I've decided to go with an AP kit. As this is my first kit, I wanted to make it right from the start, and from my research, the AP kit is very much respected in this and other forums... I'll be sure to let you know when it arrives, I'm sure I won't be able to contain my excitement! I'm still unsure though on what type of Build I want to go for, I really love the black teeth of the ESB helmet, but I think I'll decide all that stuff later, right now I'm just stoked to have finally come to a decision, i think I've been driving my wife crazy talking to her about all the pro's and con's of all the different types of armour, lol, sound familiar anyone? Anyway just wanted to share that with you guys, can't wait to get that little postal note in the mail box "a package was delivered, get your bum to the post office, pronto!" Dave. P.S check out my band! You'll notice a lot of star wars tributes in a lot of our artwork on our myspace page, under "poster art" www.myspace.com/thepassouts hell, i even called my first E.P with the band "choose your helmet" with a very tastefully done shot of a hero stormtrooper helmet, see for yourself! You can hear all five tracks for free of "Choose your helmet" on our website: www.thepassouts.com if you like what ya hear, you can download the whole E.P from I-tunes! just search for "The Pass Outs" in i-tunes, and hit download! (please, only 1 person has ever downloaded it, so it would make my year if someone actually did, lol) or if you want to get your hot little hands on an actual CD go to http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/ThePassOuts Anyway, thats enough shameless self promotion, back to the Armour! I can't wait for it to be actually in the house so i can get off the damn computer, and into the garage to work on this bad boy! WOO HOO!!!!!!! P.P.S What's the safest, cheapest way to send money overseas? i need to pay for my armour, but i don't want to get stung a whole heap in fee's, paypal apparently charge 4% of the total amount sent, any suggestions? Dave.
  14. No thats fine, i hope someone can use this as a guide! awesome! dave.
  15. wow thanks dude! I only wish i had of realised i needed to wear the boots in before painting them, i hope they don't crack when i start trooping! dave.
  16. Here's what I used for this job: The tape, metho, and the two types of paint. (about 15 bucks each) I started out with the brown fabiani's shown here: I used the metho to clean them up. I used the Gordan Ramsy cookwear bag as my rag, but you can use anything oh and I drank some tasty cotties cordial, but a corona with lemon would have been better Then taped them up. I had trouble getting the tape to stick down completly, I think I bought crappy tape, it wasn't very strong. But I kept on. I did the two layers of silver, reminded me of the days I played the tinman in high school, lol. Oh and it helps if you have a silver bar stool to display them at this stage, if you don't have one, any old bar stool will do Here they are....drying....waiting.....I used the rest of the can of white on the boots, 3 coats in total, and the two under coats of silver. When I took the tape off, the paint had obviously bled all over the place, but I asked my local garrison forum for help, and the Judge let me know of this magic liquid called ACETONE, it done the job, and got them to be nice and clean(just keep it away from the actual boots or it'll take the paint off there too!) And then here's the finished product! hope you like the pics, rock on! Dave.
  17. Hey guys, I draw your attention to my first piece of my stormtrooping dreams....the boots! I followed online tut's to get this far and I'm pretty happy with the results, but how can I get the canvas style elastic binding to be completly white? not the stitching, the part that looks like the letter U on the side of the boots. Any suggestions? let me know, cheers. dave. www.thepassouts.com www.myspace.com/thepassouts
