Little white strip things

Hey guys,

One things I am fuzzy about is the white strips you put on the armor on top of the joints. I was wondering which parts of the armor are supposed to have a strip on them I think ATA put the measurments on there but I am just not sure where they go haha. Thanks for any help

Do you mean A New hope style cover strips? The go on the front and back of the biceps, forearms, thighs and shins. Arms are usually 15mm wide, legs are 20mm.

No problem. Size / width of those strips may vary depending on your build / body type, but those sizes are the most common. Leg strips are also sometimes 25mm. Really, you just cut them to suit your needs.

Thanks. I got the right biceps, shoulder bell, forearm and handplate done. Now I know how the strip is supposed to go on there so I take some pics now. Thanks for the help

yes, agreed...I used 15m for the arms and 20mm for the legs. I measured twice and glued one time.

I have a large piece of HIPS... how do I go about cutting it and making it look like the strips above? ie how do I get the strips clean and straight? And is there any curvature to any of the pieces?

I measure and mark with a pencil and take my time and go slowly when Im cutting

Take a long metal ruler / straight edge, and use a sharp X acto knife / blade. Be careful of your fingers, the blade is sharp.

 

Score the plastic using the metal ruler as a guide, but only do a LIGHT pass with the blade. Do a second score, a little more pressure than last time, then one more pass. Now bend the plastic with your hands and "snap" the plastic along the seam - presto - instant straight edge.

 

measure 20mm or whatever width you need on both ends, and place the ruler on these new marks. Repeat the scoring described above, and snap again. Now you have a cover strip!
