Hi all. Well I missed my deadline I had set for myself. Wanting to make a Christmas parade. Missed it by far.

Things I've learned so far:

~WEAR GLOVES~ I had to stop for a few months because I got enough little cuts on every finger and a pretty nice gash on my index finger. Big mistake. I found that most of the workman's gloves around the house are quite bulky and don't give me much control, and even aren't thick enough to protect my hand from my clumsiness with a razor blade. So I attached a nice thick workers glove down on a baseball glove. It has worked flawlessly so far.

~Measure many many many times and triple check. Score and snap is definitely the way to go. If you have to cut, cut just short, you can always cut more off .

~Magnet clamps. Very handy. Don't overly rely on them though.

~Cloth between shiny side and clamps.

What I have:

~I almost ordered fx but went with one of the more accurate sets, to be more accurate and because I'm only 5'4"

~I was moderately disappointed with the quality of the te2 kit I received. I knew it would have blemishes and imperfections that can turn out amazing when passed through the hands of a master. But a master I am not.

~After being bummed out on the quality and being slightly intimidated by the te2 bucket I ordered an AP. And it is much more my style. Especially for a beginner.

What I need:

~I am pretty set, onward to building!

So that is my situation so far. Pictures and updates are soon to come.

Thanks everyone for being such a help, knowingly or unknowingly. What a community. :)

Edit: less forceful opinions and spelling.

Sounds like you're learning a lot and have a great road ahead man!

I'm a TE2 fan through and through, so the one thing I'll say about that is that you're only a master who hasn't yet done his work. We were all where you are before we did our first set of armor... now we are the masters. B)

AP armor is great too though, so go with what you like / are comfortable with for sure!

Snaps can sure be a bugger, huh?

Try Lowe's if you have one. Or I've even found them at Target before. They don't have to look just like the pics either. Just get what you deduce will work, then take pics of your own and let the next new guy after you worry they can't find ones that look like yours. After all... at that time you'll be the master too!

Good luck... and we'll be here if you need us!

Thanks. I realize there are pros and cons to each side. The helmet especially. Man I can't wait to make that te2 bucket sparkle.

I tried looking at lowes, but everything was about 1/8 of the size I wanted. If I can't find anything before I need to start connecting I may just glue pieces of plastic with elastic riveted to it to the armor and velcro straps of elastic together. I'm not sure yet.

Thanks again mate. I appreciate every word of feedback.

For the snaps you can order them online at "Tandy leather". The size you need is "line 24".

The heat sealing modeling iron is used to seal RC model airplane wings. Try online shopping at Tower Hobbies. Good luck!

Also pics

Needless to say I wont be playing pool for a while. I'm not lucky enough to have my own workshop or even desk, but that's alright.

Just some trimming done so far.
