Lens shaping question

Got an ata helmet kit I'm working on. Planning on cutting each lens out and using the epoxy lens mount. I tried boiling the lense to add some curve to the shape but the water boiled off before the plastic was malleable. Any suggestions would be welcome. All the turorials on lenses I find have the lenses shaped before they get started.<br>

I haven't tried this myself, but I've read people using a heatgun to accomplish this. But be careful as to not burn the lens. If you had some scrap lens material to learn with would probably be best.
