AP Armor Knee Plate question and advice requested

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm working on my AP build and have a quick question about the alignment of the snipoer knee plate before I go and attach it to the left (as I'm wearing it) shin.  When I test fitted the piece, I found that the bottom alignment is at a slight angle to the ground.  i.e. It angles slightly from right to left.  I've looked at a number of recent AP build threads and this "angle" appears to be consistent with them as well.

I need to give the piece the hot water bath treatment to bring the sides in closer so the are more flush with the shin sides.  Had to use tape to pull it in as much as I did.

My question is this; Should I try to work the piece to reduce the angle and the bottom of the knee plate is perpendicular to the shin itself?  Will it stop me from being approved?

I'd love to get some feedback from anyone who has done AP armor.  Thanks!

Tony & Eric,

Thank you and great advice!  That first centurion link is one I've used as a reference (James is in my garrison as well) but completely looked over how he did his knee plate.

Cheers, Bill

Here are pictures of the finished product.  Gluing the center of the knee plate to the shin first made a big difference.  After that gluing the sides was easy.

It has a slight angle to it, but better than it was when I originally lined it up.
