NabooKnight[501st] Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 I recently came into a complete any stunt 'cap w' armor set. I'm not entirely sure what all that entails. Is this armor modifiable into a stormtrooper commander? If so what specifically do I need to change and or where can I go to get the replacement parts. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 A proper Stormtrooper Commander (i.e. TKC) is based on ROTJ armor. Having said that, modifying ANH armor into a TKC can and has been done. Take a look at the CRL: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_commander Then have a look in our FISD TKC-specific section, in particular the build threads at the top of the index: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/39-stormtrooper-commander/ Quote
mikedwelle94[TK] Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) I'm currently building an Imperial Shock Trooper which is structurally identical to an ROTJ - mostly out of ANH armor (and a lot of the pieces happen to be CAP-W like yours). You need to invert the abdomen button panel, construct everything with the overlap method (no coverstrips), and take all the return edges off all the torso plates and add white rubber "u" trim to the plates. I suppose you can find a way to fuse your kidney/butt armor into one piece, but I think it would be more worth it to order a replacement from a maker of ROTJ armor. TM and CFO can hook you up with that, and the proper belt material. The belt fabric on a ROTJ costume resembles that of firehose, rather than the canvas you see on ANH troopers.
