shadowfox1198
Hi guys! I should've posted this about 3 weeks ago when I got my armour, but I was so eager to get started after getting my big brown box. I'm going for an ANH Stunt build- Not shooting for Level 3 or 2 just yet, really just looking for a good approval build. If I can get EIB I will go for it, but that's not my primary concern (this will most likely become my SandTrooper down the road anyways ) I have spent a very large amount of time on these forums and must say that you folks' contributions to the various pages is very valuable. As such, I'm going to be keeping a log of my progress thus far to hopefully get some feedback and pointers outside of my current build group. I'll start by showing what I have thus far. Currently I have my blaster (doopydoos), bucket, arms and 1 shin done so far. As I'm getting to the more difficult parts I could defiantly use some more opinions . BIG BROWN BOX DAY! I didn't take too many pictures of the bucket as it was being built, but here's the outcome lol Edited November 20, 2015 by shadowfox1198
shadowfox1198
I know this is mostly hard armour and build discussions, but thought I would show my E11 as well. Tried my best not to go overboard with the weathering...
shadowfox1198
The next part I worked on was the biceps and forearms. They were very tough to get a good fit as I have big hands and had trouble getting them through. I think I got the right size for them, I might need an ounce of foam inside the forearms to make sure they don't move all that much, and I'm planning on heating up the biceps (Either by VERY careful use of a heat gun, or with the hot water-ice bath method) as they're a bit too oval shaped. I used sharpie to mark the cut line... silly mistake as I forgot to wipe it off before I glued it so it kind of mixed with the glue in a few seams. I figure worst case I could use a high gloss paint to clean that up, but that's down the road. Day off hair lol- need more coffee... The guys at an armour party said that I didn't need to trim the cover strips as much as I did, but tbh I like the way they look when they're flush against the armour. shadowfox1198
Most of this forum will mostly be pictures as I believe they're worth a thousand words lol. As such, if at any time photo bucket messes up or you can't see the pictures, let me know and I'll fix it. The most recent part I did was the right shin. It took quite a while to figure out which piece was which, but after getting a few verification's I went with the following configuration. Also, my cover strips were 24mm in the front and 30mm in the back, I've heard lots of different measurements from 20-40mm, so I figured it best to make it match the armour and my body size (6' 215lbs). I haven't put the velcro on the back yet, but it fits snugly and I don't have to worry about it moving around as I walk, I also trimmed a bit of the return edge on the back so that walking was more comfortable. The only part I'm a bit worried about is how the cover strip goes to the top of the armour, I've seen it done in multiple ways where the strip stops right before the top, at the top, and even where it bends backwards along the top ridge... Anyways, that's where I'm at now, about to start the left shin...
shadowfox1198
Ok Got some work done on my shins but I've got a couple questions about the sniper plate: Sniper plate: Does this placement look correct? Seems to not line up perfectly and almost seems like it'll need to be pushed very hard against the armour to be flush with the shin armour below. Also, in case I might go for EIB one dfay I might not use rivets and might just glue it with E6000... Thoughts?
TK5492[TK]
You're going to want to just glue the sniper plate. It is a pain and my one side pops off from time to time. Just make sure you use the glue in the right contact spots and clamp really really well. Everything else looks fantastic!

shadowfox1198
Update: I got some work done on the thighs- They need a bit more trimming which I'll do when the body assembly is complete. What do you think about the cuts to come? Here is the leg assembly close to completion Please let me know what you guys think I would defiantly love to hear your feedback- I'm gonna post a few questions about the next part I'm working on... I'll be sure to have glue in my trooping case as it does seem like it may pop off after a good amount of wear!
shadowfox1198
Now I'm going to start on the part that I've been dreading the most- the body assembly. I have looked all over the fourms and have found quite a lot of advice, yet I'm very slow to build this part and must've gone through and entire roll of painters tape taking pieces on and off lol. The shoulder straps on this kit seem to be much smaller than the shoulder pieces they sit on. In fact the chest and back plats bow out when the get near the joining area. I'm not exactly sure where to cut them and I haven't found many threads about this part of the build I don't want to take off that much of the return edge, but I also only want to see the straps and not the armour underneath as that seems to be the common way of fitting them. Also It's hard to tell where exactly the shoulders should be placed on the body itself as the actual indentation on the AM 2.0 chest plate seems to be smaller and less protruding than others I have seen. And after taping the whole thing together this is what I get- It seems to fit well, but I can tell I'll have to leave the shoulders a bit big to cover the gap to the right of the shoulder straps. Aso the kidney plate seems to be the inverted- I think the indentation is supposed to be closer to the butt and the bigger part near the back plate correct? Thoughts?
