mercury26 Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I am working on my Ab plate as part of my build. I have looked at a lot of pictures and from what I see I need to trim the following areas. I will be showing pics with and without a blue line. From the my understanding, I should cut along the blue line and NOT add a return edge. Is this correct? Right Side Thigh area Area to be cut off. Left side thigh area Ab plate inside view above thigh Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) No. You don't want to remove all the return edge. The return edges were sculpted into the original suits to provide the appearance of thickness to the armor without adding bulk for the actors inside. It also provided a spot for the connecting brackets to be installed. Anyway, Why my red line is half blue, I don't know. It was red when I drew it. But the other blue line at the top right corner shows the line where the original stopped. Below this line, NE provided extra material for larger troopers. ---------- Edited December 25, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
mercury26 Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 Ok, that makes sense. Good thing I asked first. One more questions, should I could along the green line in picture ONE or the green line in picture TWO. Picture One: Picture Two: Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 You can really do either one without consequence. That part is hidden under your belt. Try it on to make sure nothing digs into your sides. Now one thing to watch for. There is a little notch at the bottom corner of the kidney. That vertical edge between the top of the kidney and this notch should match up with the ab. If you are unsure what I mean by this, I have a build thread going on for an RS suit I am doing. There is a pic of the kidney/ab side seam. Quote
