RedSpecial[TK] Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I got my armor kit the other day and Im planning to use the butt join method for the legs and arms. I know the AP kit has extra material on the sides so you can just overlap it which has to be removed but do I remove 10mm from each side of the leg pieces or leave just 10mm on each side? Help me FISD, you're my only hope Quote
troopermaster Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 You want to leave at least a 10mm flat edge for the joining strip to stick too. That is assuming you can fit into the armour without shimming it, in which case you want to get it to fit right first before trimming away precious material, then add the joining strips/shims accordingly. That is for the legs anyway. For the arms you are aiming for 15mm strips, so leave approximately 8mm either side for the joining strips. Quote
RedSpecial[TK] Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 Thanks for clearing that up Paul the ab and kidney pieces seem to fit around me with a bit of room to spare so the standard 20mm and 15mm strips will probably be fine but I'll make sure to double check before I trim the arms and legs fully. Test fit everything before cutting and then you will see what size strips to use. By the sounds of things you will need the standard 20mm for the legs and 15mm for the arms, but go wider if you need to. These measurements are not set in stone so go with what fits you best Quote
RedSpecial[TK] Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 I will do, Thanks for the advice Quote
