Davisrocks
Is this A good buy? And does anyone know who "makerofthings!" is?
pandatrooper[TK]
You might want to search for "Maker of things" feedback in this forum (Ebay armor). It's been discussed many times at length. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=9409&st=0&p=119083&hl=maker%20of%20things&fromsearch=1entry119083 In a nutshell, stay away from that stuff. RogueTrooper[TK]
Say NO! to recaster... Look into this part of the FISD: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11538 It is were you will find most of the reliable armro makers. The two big things about the armor kit that you have seen on Ebay (seller MAKEROFTHINGS), is a recast (which is not permitted). The other thing is, his armor and helmet is Vacuumformed out of 0.060 material, and will not stand up to trooping... Most good armor kits are made out of 0.80 to 0.090 material. I know that you said in another post, that your budget is "VERY tight" I have been there in your same shoes and can sympathize with that. But if you spend $260 on a suit that is not going to be what you need, then you wallet is really going to be hurting. Contact some of the armor makers and see what their prices are, most of them don't ask for the payment until the armor is ready. Some do have layaway/payment plans. They may even have some B stock that they can give you a deal on.
syber
I bought a helmet from makerofthings last week. Its styrene, and I am no expert but I can tell its way too thin to do anything with other than use as a display helmet on a shelf.
