  1. Hello,

I'm Scott..  TK/TI-6143.  As the title says, I'm not really new.  I'm replacing my old FX kit with AP.  When I see the armor worn by newer members, I realized my FX armor looks terrible.  And the thighs have cracks, so it's showing it's age.  I haven't decided yet if I'm going ANH, ESB, or ROTJ.  I just got a big brown box in the mail.  I'm looking forward to getting started.

  2. Thanks everyone.  I had read that ANH armor was made to fit someone who is 165 pounds.  I just weighed myself, and I am almost 180.  I really need to stick to my calorie plan to get back down to 165.   But since I was a bit over the recommended weight, I was wondering if the armor would still fit.

  3. Hi,

I want to replace my FX kit.  It has a few cracks.  And it just doesn't look as good as some of the newer TKs I see.  Plus my bucket is over-sized, and I feel like a bobble head.

I have read the list of various armor types.  I'm trying to pick the best armor for my body type.  I am 5' 9", 175 pounds.  My chest measurement is 41", and I wear a size 32 pants (with a little over-hang).

I think that ANH derived is a little too small for me, right?  I am considering RT and CFO.  But I am also looking at RS.  I noticed RS comes with 1.5 mm ABS.  I hope that the thicker ABS would be more durable.  Does anyone know the thickness of RT and CFO?

  4. Hi,

I'm looking to replace a few parts.  I see the ebay seller secondstarright is selling individual parts.  I did a search on the forums for that name already, but didn't find anything.  Does anyone know if this seller is OK? Or is his stuff re-casts or inaccurate?

    EDIT

I found a link to this seller in another thread.  It just didn't have his ebay name listed.  I found the droid answer I was looking for.  It seems to be FX armor, and is not recommended.

  5. I haven't done much work with my TK lately. I started working on this project again. I added some straps made of 2 inch wide webbing. These straps should carry the weight of the chest/back armor. The white ABS straps will cover the webbing, and shouldn't bear much weight. I have a similar set up with my TIE armor.

I have some extra parts and tools that I got from -----while I was working on my Jedi belt. So from Tandy I have ----- and a -----You can also buy these parts ----- I also have a-----from Tandy.

So first I added heavy duty velcro inside the chest and back plates

The heavy duty velcro should stick to the webbing

but just to be sure, I punched a hole in each corner

and drove a rivet into each corner

  6. One last thing, the issue around the size.

Seeing as it's the last time I'll be doing these I'll try go the extra mile SO please just tell me your actual collar size & mention

"snug or Comfortable or Loose Fit"

& I'll work out the rest ;) despite all the extra work it means :o

    Hello,

My collar size is 17 1/2 inches, and I would like the comfortable fit option.

    thank you

  7. Trash Cans. Pick up a cheepie and hack it up. Look for a smooth one at a home store. Kitchen ones work great. :D

WOW, you're a genius! I had been calling around town to try to find more ABS to shim my armor. Most places here don't stock the 0.060" stuff. They'd have to order it. One place here does have a table of plastic scraps priced by the pound, but no good ABS.

Anyway, I already have the perfect can. It's white, 14" X 9" I can split it in half, and trim it down from there. Either that, or paint it like R2-D2.

  8. I play English handbells in the choir at my church. Most choirs wear cotton gloves to keep the oils and sweat in our hands from tarnishing the brass. The black cotton gloves would be great for warm weather trooping. They are very light weight. When wearing these gloves, I still have enough dexterity to turn the pages in my music. The gloves come in plain, or with plastic "gripping" dots in the grip area. I do recommend the dots. When I complete my TK kit, I plan to keep a couple pairs of these in my tub for warm weather.

If you live near a music store that sells church/choir music, they may also keep these in stock. Best of all, the cost is $3 - $5. If you don't have a music store near you, you can just Google handbell gloves

  9. I have been playing around and test fitting my FX kit. I've been thinking of which seams to glue, and which ones to use velcro. I know I'll have to use velcro on the calves, since they won't slide on any other way. I thought I would need to use velcro on the forearms. But after I tried one, I found I could slide it on and off without undoing the velcro.

So I'm just curious what everyone else does? Which seams do you glue, and which ones do you use velcro to close? Right now I think I can use velcro on the calves, and glue on the thighs, forearms, and biceps.

I realize that gluing the seams makes things a bit bulker in terms of storage. that's OK, I'll just get a bigger tub if I have to. Although most parts will stack/fit inside others.

  10. Hello,

At some point in the future, I want to work on TK armor. Right now I'm finishing my TIE pilot costume, and will apply for full membership in the 501st soon. I am already a member of the Rebel Legion and Jedi Assembly. You can find me there under the name Col-Mas.

I know I have a lot to learn about TKs like: What's the differnce between ANH, ESB, and ROTJ troopers? I'm looking forward to finding the answers to this and other questions in this forum.

    See you around :)
