  1. Thanks to the admin that got the "bot barrage" situation figured out! If I lower the ammo belt on the thigh to be more level it will expose the ridge- I thought about raising the back a little bit I figured that would be a Centurian stopper if I did that. Here are my pics for recommendation/random comments Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  2. I have been trying to get tapatalk to work to no avail this weekend- even uninstalled the app, cleared 2 different history caches reinstalled the app, cleared all followed forums (reloaded 2 others just fine) and everytime I try this one I get a message "Network error, please try again later. (get_config)" I did some searching and several tapatalk help forums/groups all lead to the same conclusion: There is a connectivity issue between the forum you are trying to reach and Tapatalk servers....send a note to the forum admin about updating their Tapatalk plugin. Help! Thanks in advance, Z
  3. I found some time and took WAAAAAY to long to get my leg armor done- wow did that sniper knee plate take a huge amount of reforming to get to properly align with the top ridge. I think I finally have it correct though! I also noticed that the ammo belt that goes around the thigh armor sits at a tremendous "uphill" angle instead of being level - I compared this to a couple Anovos suits yesterday at a troop, and there is a lot of difference between that and the WTF suits- I hope one you can tell me If I need to somehow change something (and what it would be) to get this to work for Centurian. -------------My Talkatap apparently locked up, so I'm working on getting that working again to post the pictures!
  4. Since the WTF mic tip is so bad, I did a lot of research and found what I believe is the most accurate to the real part of there! https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/accurate-prop-wars-star-stormtrooper-hovi-mix-pa2-aerators-stormtrooper-communic?srsltid=AfmBOop4lmJvgqg2KN03Ow5vMSVygrFl4nW-5ZhlsfIQ9mmZb0Rmj6EQ I printed the base without the barbs so it's flat and put a machine screw in to secure it to the helmet. In hindsight I should have just screwed the base to the helmet and spun on the tip, but I "overthunk" it and applied epoxy to attach the screw permanently to the base. I also bought UKswraith correct mesh screen and formed it by pushing it through a hole of the correct size with a socket. Sometimes the simplest way is the best way Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  5. So I decided to return to the helmet..... I moved the faceplate up about .300" as I determined this is where it appears "happiest". It isn't too far up the brow (some minor trimming where I have the black lines needed though) and the side gaps should be able to be dealt with normally. Any feedback before permanent attachment is appreciated! Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  6. For those budget-challenged builders like myself, I thought I would share the tools that I have been using. Lexan scissors, half round file, nail files, cheap dial caliper - all from Amazon. A lot of manual labor here, but totally controllable. After the rough cuts (slightly oversized)with the scissors, file/sand as needed for final sizing and smoothness. I also have a harbor freight belt sander that comes in handy for quick material removal that is not as dangerous/fast as a Dremel. I find it more controllable than a Dremel and it can do nice radii AND straight lengths- dremels can't do straight edges! Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  7. I will get back to that helmet after I get some more confidence on cutting and reshaping, lol. I had a couple hours this holiday weekend so I did some final size adjustments on my legs. The left thigh needs about another 1/8" or so tightening but I am happy where I ended up! Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  8. I really need some help on the helmet from my fellow WTF builder crafty type people! I used the recommended mounting holes for the faceplate, but very large gaps on the sides (that get covered by the ears) make me think I should I should trim the top where I have tape and move the faceplate up about 3/16". I'd really appreciate input from those experienced helmet builders! Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  9. So the sniper plate has no defined area to trim it where it tapers down on the sides....I have seen pictures of people making them pointy and squared off. I haven't found anything to help determine if either is detrimental to Centurian- thoughts please? Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  10. Forearms and biceps are sized. Forearms have return edges removed top and bottom, I kept a little bicep edge just "bulk me up" Al little since I only have 11 1/2" biceps. I'm planning on putting in a little black padding if I get armor bite and need to remove them. I noticed that one forearm is round, and the other is very oval-shaped...do I leave that or reshape it be round? Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  11. I went to town hacking away on some stuff! Thighs are sized, return edge removed at the top, and some left at the bottom on purpose. Shins are sized, but need the rear opening cut to butt correctly after I try them over my boots. Return edges removed from the bottom but some left on top on purpose. Used a heat gun for preliminary curving of thigh ammo belt I plan on final trimming all pieces for height when I have my torso done to ensure proper clearances for looks and movement. Measure 6 times and cut 12! [emoji16] Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  12. Perfect pictures, thanks!!! Yep, they all had the same issue and had to barely leave a tiny edge as to not go over the armor plate. My plate had the dimples as well...brand new kit this year after waiting about 3 months....head scratching...but irrelevant at this point- I shall make it proper. Thanks for all the help!
  13. Right, I fully understand and have seen many pics during prior research, all show the painted plate being small enough to have room for the flat edge. If I'm lucky there MIGHT be a 1/16" that I could add before hanging beyond the raised portion of the armor- as the WTF kit has these parts apparently made too large... Sounds like there needs to have some/any edge? so hopefully I don't get punished for armor maker sizing issues. Do my fellow WTF kit users need to purchase/3D print somebody elses plates that are smaller to install on the armor piece?
  14. I actually trimmed it that way on purpose because the plates are so disproportionately large compared to the reference photos I looked at and would hang over the edge of the armor plate mounting locations if I left a border.... Sounds like you are suggesting that hanging over a little is preferred? (Aiming for a Centurian build) Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  15. I managed to find a little time and did some painting. I used the Humbrol paints listed. I didn't do it perfectly to make sure it "looks hand painted" per CRL. Any feedback is appreciated before trim and assembly of helmet. Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  16. Since I still have not received my helmet hardware, I started my thermal detonator. I have questions on the "control panel" sizing..... Should it wrap 180 degrees around the tube? If it needs shortening like I think it does, where should I take it off? I put reference lines on my pics. Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  17. Close ups of teeth as requested. Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks for the compliment on my trimming, but I haven't done anything except cut off the excess mold! Lol. I didn't take any off because I know it's difficult to add what has already been removed ;) I'm glad to hear about the less pics needed with measuring devices too. Phew! I see the original screen used drop boxes have the inner part protruding about 1/8" from the outer.... So it appears that flush to slightly extending out is the way to go? .... Yeah, sorry if I get a little too deep with measurements, my career as a mechanic has me deal with thousandths of an inch tolerances, and the Lancer level Scout guys are right there with crazy specifics as well.
  19. Thanks Sha Sha, I have looked through your build as inspiration and a lot of tips!! It's been too hot to work out in the garage on the Mustang, so I have started trimming some pieces... A couple initial questions- does anyone have excellent detailed pics on how to trim Walt's helmet rear part? Second question is where to get the soft hand guards and gloves to meet Centurian as the WTF kit only has the hard hand guards. Third question, belt drop boxes, how thick for Venturian? Nothing in CRL about thickness and mine are about 3/4" thick. Thanks in advance! Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks to everyone on the Pre- getting my armor kit advice! I FINALLY got my WTF TK armor kit after waiting since mid-February and will have a lot of advice questions during this process as I will be building with the goal of obtaining Centurian (I am a perfectionist on everything I do - it's a curse!) I am a Lancer level ROTJ Biker Scout so this will be my second build. I have read through all the suggested build threads recommended and got a lot of nice info from those! I have too many other projects and not enough free time, so forgive the large gaps between posts - Thanks, I look forward to sharing and learning throughout this experience!!
  21. A company named Denix makes replica weapons and has a Sterling in their "vote for" list for possible future production. These would be AWESOME for E-11 builds!! Please tell everyone you know to go and vote for it, here's the link: https://www.denix.es/en/suggestions/ You will need to click the "see more" button near the bottom of the page as the Sterling is not in the top of the list....yet. I have a few of their replicas and they are beautiful and accurate, made my DLT -19 out of their MG-34 and get crazy compliments on it
  22. And still waiting for my armor kit......turns out he didn't even have any white material to even make kits when I sent the $$ in Feb. In the meantime, is this where I continue my build thread or did I miss it somewhere else? Sent from my moto g 5G - 2024 using Tapatalk
  23. 2 months and still waiting for my armor set.......hopefully soon! I also decided to not use the Blaster I bought. the more I look at it, the more I am not happy with the quality. So I started 3d printing my own sterling and will modify accordingly. I see a couple different scope model "options" that are acceptable M-38 or M-19, I want to get that correct for Centurian standards as well if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance
  24. Hey Doggydoc- Thanks, I had to laugh a bit by your question, I totally plan on building with Centurian in mind!.... but...... reality gets in the way, hence my original post of "...help me ACHEIVE a Tier 2 build!" LOL :D One question I have as I wait for my armor - is separating the cod from the ab plate (for movement) a deal-breaker for Centurian??... I didn't see anything specific on this in the CRL
