  1. Self-build kits (helmet & armour) together with recommended strapping kit ordered from RS Prop Masters - now the long wait until BBB day!
  2. Hi all, So after much research on here and the UKG forum I'm taking the plunge and starting my first stormtrooper build. To make the most of being able to tap into two pools of wisdom I apologise in advance to any troopers on here and UKG for duplicating content and questions - I figure that specialised TK knowledge from FISD and 'local' know-how from UKG-based troopers will hopefully steer me along the right path. For a multitude of reasons (some practical, others less so) I've gone for an ESB version. RS Prop Masters have a great website (I like to see what I'm buying before I part with any cash) and have a great reputation so I'm 99% certain I'll get my armour from them. I'm building on a budget (who isn't these days?) so with the abundance of how-to's online hope to be able to apply what DIY / crafting skills I have to trim/glue/drill/cut/sand/rivet/sew my way along the self-build route as much as possible. As I mentioned in my initial post I'm ultimately aiming for Centurion approval so aim to build to this level from the start to save rework later. I'm looking forward to getting to know folks on here and hopefully meet up with some of you on future troops! Cheers
  3. Man that was a tough one to watch, really brings it home just how impactful the work of the 501st is.

  5. I think it was 'Heroes of the empire', also available on YouTube by the looks of it
  6. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Lots of further links to check out, thanks for sending that one @gmrhodes13, I'll add it to my reading list. Yes @Nairy, I'm looking at going for the higher levels of approval and hope to aim to incorporate them into my initial build to avoid remaking some elements at a later date but I'll have to see what is possible. I've registered with UKG @Sithping but not come across ISG yet so will check them out, thanks for the tip.
  7. Hi FISD, A couple of months ago I watched the feature on Netflix about the 501st Legion and discovered this amazing community of Star Wars fans and dedicated costumers. The best advice I've found at this early stage is to do loads of research so I've enjoyed many hours of poring over numerous posts, gleaning knowledge and building up an idea of which costume to start with and how to go about it. Whilst I enjoyed the prequels and sequels as they were released, I grew up watching the OT so these episodes represent the classic Stormtrooper for me personally. For a newcomer such as myself there are a number of factors inclining me towards the ESB TK. As they're UK-based RS Propmasters seem a logical choice and have a good rep for screen authenticity. I'm really looking forward to both the build phase and out trooping, joining the 'bad guys who do good'.
