  1. right so im gonna be attempting to do the holster at some point when the blaster is printed. going off the images we've gathered above i can conclude this from the above image, the part of the holster which holds the gun is roughly as tall as this box it seems to have a cutout at the back where the trigger guard would otherwise prevent it from going fully into the holster. while it has a more trapezoidal appearance. wider at the top than it is lower, its not enough to have the blaster go as low as it sits in the images of it holstered. so there is likely a cutout as with the grunt holster. only on this one it doesnt go round to the side since its half as wide. the y straps are identical to the grunts, which leaves a lot more of the rear half exposed compared to the grunts. as shown in the image below since its a much narrower holster on a side profile while we dont have any real good images of the holster close up, it definitely appears to be two separate fake leather components, the y strap and the holster component, which is visibly attached somehow with no sewing. i assume this means it was glued together. and the holster component is a complete cylinder shape glued onto the y strap, which should extend all the way down to the bottom of the holster, or thereneough. any opinions on this would be exceptionally helpful since we really dont have good enough views and din doesnt take the holster with him when he steals their pistol so unlike the pistol theres no good references externally
  2. shins pics. they're francais's files so they've got the accurate single seam and flex, as well as level 2 requirements
  3. Right so I’ve inquired with darmansprops about the holster and they would be happy to work on getting that made, but they work with real leather only. Is there any chance thin real leather made white is doable or does it absolutely have to be synthetic white leather. If so I might have to try my hand at doing it myself ive also talked over the belt and the people I was thinking about using don’t think it will be too hard so I’ll probably get that made sometime soon.
  4. knees are done. thighs also printed. all helmet greeblies printed. gauntlet greeblies printed, gauntlets themselves need a reprint as they failed a bit. and shins have a few hours left. when ive got pics of all that ill send em over. all thats left out of the parts i can do now (so not the jetpack or whole chest rig as i need to lose a hefty amount of weight before im comfortable doing that and frankly the kit would look massively out of proportion in that area if id have to stretch it out a lot) the bits remaining are the hard pouches. which ive sized, the cod which ive yet to scale. and the blaster pistol. when the blaster is done ill be attempting to have the holster made. likely from darmans props. but i need the pattern first which ill be working on when francais is able to get me the pattern for the og, and ill hopefully be able to get a pattern approved for send off to whoevers making it. or me if i decide to make it. as far as everything else goes. the gloves and boots are being made by crowprops to the higher levels of accuracy requirements so no problem there. which leaves the belt, undersuit and ab section. the undersuit will have to wait until around Christmas where ill see how much progress ive made on losing weight and if ive slimmed down enough ill get the undersuit commissioned from keeptrooping and make sure they're able to do the level2/3 accurate version. ab section will be from out own wonderful crl model when hes got the process working to his liking. tho whether the size he made allready will fit me by the time that time arises is another thing, may ahve to hope he has enough interest for a larger circumference version. the belt will be made by a uk maker ive worked with for my snowy.

  6. yep, confirmed with gio so alls good. ill put those on order now and thats two parts of the build tehcnically done and away with
  7. Yeah im not entirely convinced they do have the padded instep. But they did reply back to my email and say they are made like that so I’ve gotta take their word for it really. I do want to go for centurion and the boots are the one complex component of higher accuracy since of the two venders. Crowprops is the only one who physically can add the padded look. But we can’t confirm if it actually is done by default. And it doesn’t really look like they’re padded on the pictures on the website. So I might hold out actually just to be 100 percent sure.
  8. According to crowprops the boots they do do have padding on the instep. So I’m going to trust that they do and order the gloves and boots from them
  9. Mmm, ok I see it now. I’ll have to just hope crowprops does get back to me in that case cus I don’t think keeptroopings will pass the higher accuracy requirements and nor will crowprops at base. Helmets finished printing. Next is the gauntlets I believe
  10. So far the hand and bicep parts have been printed out in resin. The helmet should be done today if not during this passed night. And the greeblies for it are going on today. one thing I’m trying to get found out is if keep troopings boots would pass level 2. I inquired with Vincent and he said since he does the boots with proper thick leather , unlike crowprops who does it with thinner leather and a backing material, that adding padding isn’t really possible. I was wondering if the usage of thicker material would give that raised look the crl seems to be asking for on the instep. If I’m perfectly honest I’ve perused the screenshots and I can’t really make out on the crl or in the actual show to what degree so if I can get clarification on his shoes and if they’ll meet the additional accuracy requirements that would be great
  11. right, so its not the easiest to get a pic with lighting low enough its not glinting and too light, but too low to where the colours arent showing right, but thats the test. the grey is the same francais used for his kit, i think the red is pretty much the perfect shade but im open to opinions. hand plates and a few of the helmet greeblies are printed, helmet and bicep parts are currently being printed, and the gauntlets will start today cus they wont really be affected by my intended weightloss. the thighs and knees will be next on the print list
  12. ive ordered matte white, black, dark grey and the above dark red, and im going to do a test on some scrap plastic. essentially im gonna do a white coat. mask off an area and do the dark grey. then mask off and do dark red over it. and we cna see how it compares to the screen gabs. the helmet. biceps and hand plates are printing today and ill have some physical stuff to show off next week hopefully.
  13. yeah im leaning more towards the latter two. but id prefer a matte finish so ill see if i cant find those brands in matte alternatively ive just found this in matte and reading reviews of the spraypaint people are saying its pretty dam good so if i can find white black and grey in matte ill start doing some colour tests on plastic spoons
  14. right so ive been looking around for the right shade of red. frank is right that it looks to be around the same shade as the darkish red used in the biceps, chest detail and thigh insets. so ive come up with a potential list of specific paints that i think hit the mark. montana - royal red alternatively there's this gloss from halfords which looks pretty on the mark although id likely try to see if there's matte of it. if theres any production info on the specific brand or colour used for the costumes darker red sections thatll be super helpful but without that, i feel these 3 are fairly close. but maybe a physical test of one next to a gloss white needs to happen first
  15. I’m not gonna pretend my painting space isn’t the outside round table with a plastic cover over it . But uh.
  16. I’ve never used automotive paints myself yet and never gotten a spray gun. But this might be the time.
  17. Good to know, the grey is the only paint I’d be using in the costume I have on hand so I can easily just get automotive paints instead , and I may just to have as good a finish as possible. I’ll check out what reds are out there and see if I can’t source the same shade of red. We are gonna have to figure that out sooner or later so why not sooner ?
  18. thanks mate, as always your kit is a beauty and I hope I can do as good a job. with regards to boots. I’ll go with my original plan of crowprops for both then since they have the glove Velcro for the hand plating sewn in. And make sure that they’re doing the padded version. i did think the red was the darker red we see on the biceps thighs and chest (if you have any helpful hints regarding what colour that is specifically that would be super helpful) but the lightest shots we see in studio lighting seems to be pretty bright red. I’ll have to spray paint the entirety of the costume rather than airbrushing the smaller details as I suck at airbrushing and don’t have one atm. But that shouldn’t be a problem as long as I’m careful. we spoke on Etsy regarding the ab piece and I’m hopeful I won’t actually need a larger mold if I do achieve my goal of slimming down enough. But if you keep me in the loop regarding your endeavors and the last thing Ive really gotta source is your chest files. Which I’ll be only happy to purchase when they’re available.
  19. Thanks. So am I , a lot of the work for this will be in majorly slimming down so that’ll be a feat in of itself. Hopefully we can narrow down a correct red as I’ll probably do the knees and hand plates in the next month. I’ll try and narrow down some spray paints that look like they might be a good match and we can go from there. Am I correct in thinking the best painting route is matte colours with a glossy clear coat or have I fabricated that entirely. I’ve got rustoleum flat grey primer on me and if that is the case then I’ve got 2 rattle cans ready to go
  20. This is where ill document the construction of the captain variant of the IAC, Im doing the same in my garrisons tk wip subforum but since this will be the eventual creation of a whole new crl which will need the input of FISD leadership my focus will be here primarily (mostly cus if were successful here ittl be the standard to which all others are cleared to and so being as in depth on there as well as here probably isnt a fruitful endeavour. this will evolve as we cement the proposed differences and proto-crl. to start it off i thought id go over what we know about the captains seen in the show. the battlefront models for now are functionally the same bar the guns they use and the accompanying holster so ill leave them for the end of this. with the knowledge ill be going for level 3 centurion in mind the base costume is identical. at least from all the images we've got access to. this makes things a lot easier because theres no need for anything new to be modelled up. the only armour pieces that are changed are the shins. knees, vambraces/handplates and the helmet itself. these changes are cosmetic only and include the shins and knees being entirely a red gloss colour. likely as with the normal suit, a matte red with gloss clearcoat, which red is yet to be determined but from the well lit photos it appears to be just a basic red, no complex shade or special colour. the hand plates are similarly entirely red. those 3 components are easy and there doesn't see to be any hidden details we've missed there. the gauntlets/vambraces whatever you prefer to call them have the white paint replaced with red, from screenshots it appears as if every paint colour except the white is still there, there's simply been a swap to red where there would be white, this as well is not a complex change and since all components will be separate as per centurion requirements that should be fairly easy. granted we cannot confirm that the right gauntlet has the grey components as well, but its safe to say they wouldn't have done the one without the other. the helmet is the same as the grunts. but with added red on the whole of the ear sections, extruded ear piece, and into the cheek where the ear connects. the greeblies all remain the same colour other than the large ear pieces. everything else is identical to the existing crl bar the holster. see the fun part about that is that while the screen used costumes were seen with the foundry 3 blaster pistol which mando later takes, which has a slimmer and differently shaped gun holding section, as well as no rifle. the battlefront 3 versions are seen with both the rifle in hand , and the grunt costumes holster and SE-14 inspired blaster. the proposed new crl will be a variant of the existing one and not a separate crl , as per the crl team. and ill be doing my best to replicate franks epic work on the crl model kit , ill be using a mix of his and bigfreds print files. i dont believe the chest is available yet from frank but that's the last bit that ill be using. currently this is what ive figured out vender wise. all my armour is being printed by fellow uk costumer and maker. the shins chest rig and jetpack will be last because im aiming to heavily slim down to do this costume justice. flightsuit-keep trooping gloves- either crowprops or keeptroopings axe wove gloves which i believe is what frank used (crowprops that is) boots- likely keeptrooping to save on immense shipping to the uk, but if his wont pass level 2 for whatever reason ill go with crowprops. soft belt- likely to be made by a garrison member who's not godawful at that like i am holster is yet to be determined as we need to decide on what the crl will require. its very likely we do basic clearance allowing either holster type , with level 2 or 3 clearance limiting it to the screen used blaster and no rifle. but that's to be determined. it'll likely be handmade using modified patterns from franks existing patterns balaclava is self explanatory blaster will be resin printed by the same guy as the armour lighting will likely be something im helped with by a squadmate as experience in electronics is not my strongpoint. excited to get this started and help build this crl. itll likely be at least early january before im able to start the chestrig and jetpack and maybe shins . and im unsure if ill leave painting til everythings ready. but in the meantime we'll be making sure the red is the right red i guess XD
  21. Oh you just had to send that didn’t you though that is an excellent question. I’m not sure if it’s canon so someone will have to correct me on that. But if so then it does seem like we could have base approval having both holster and blaster combos being approvable. And then a level 2 or 3 requirement of that specific blaster and holster. Rifle I feel like we could be fair and say it’s optional. Personally I don’t see why they wouldn’t use them as pistols only go so far and a long range more powerful option would certainly be something I’d use in their place. But I can see the benefit of having a higher level of accuracy restricting the weaponry to just the jango style pistol and holster. depends what people are thinking. Just putting out options as battlefront has been used for a great deal of crls so we probably have to take that version into account
  22. Mmm, so essentially it seems like it’s the v shaped straps but a different gun holding part. So yeah that shouldn’t be too hard to get done. The blaster itself looks more complex than the other pistol but nothing impossible. do you think thats something we’d be having as optional , a choice between the modified SE-14 style blaster or the jango style westar foundry 5 . Or do you think we’re strictly to on screen. In which case they aren’t seen using the rifle the grunt commandos are seen with so that might have to be omitted. in my humble opinion i could see the captain being an extension of the crl much in the same way the gunner has variants which are nearly identical but have maybe a single component different that warrants the modified crl, the captain is for all intents and purposes the base costume with a different holster , and added paint details which would pretty much be the existing crl with some points modified to be red instead of white. I don’t know if it’s distinct enough to really warrant a separate crl. however I also see the argument that the shoretroopers are all functionally identical except for a couple components and slightly different paint scheme to denote rank. So I can maybe see it being its own crl , but using pretty much a modified version of the existing crl this is primarily a place to get opinions and I welcome them , I’d love to get this crl made eventually and the best way to get that done is group consensus ?. And of course my blood sweat and tears getting it done. I’m also planning on getting it done to centurion levels of accuracy so we’ll have to see if there’s anything that warrants additional level 2 or 3 requirments (I don’t think they will but this is a place for opinions so bring em on ??) I’ll be starting up a wip when I’ve got some things to actually show, the helmet hand plates and bicep plates will start being printed next week with everything but the main helmet body being resin printed. I want all the detail
  23. Might have just been going insane then, it happens. ? That does seem to be the only physical difference between it and the normal variant. Everything else seems to be paintwork
  24. Going off those screenshots it does appear that there’s a variant of holster. The question being now I guess is are all the captains wearing it or just a couple. From the screenshots I’ve seen it seemed like at least a couple were wearing the normal holster but I might be wrong. It seems like The holster itself is the same up until the blaster so the actual design probably only needs a tweak there to match the blaster im planning to work on the captain variant . As I’ve already been planning a normal version I thought why not take the time to research the other variant and maybe get a crl up for it eventually.
  25. In prep for potentially doing the captain variant of the imperial armoured commando. ive gone over all the best screengabs ive found relating to the red variant of the costume. and to open up a discussion about creating a new crl for the costume. given what ive found i do not believe it should be a separate crl in its entirety, but a variant of the crl. https://imgur.com/a/i3vUkNQ to succinctly lay out what ive written under that collection of images, for those only passing by. The helmet remains identical to the base costume except for the ear section which has both the extruded detail piece and main ear section in glossy or satin red, my bet is its matte red with glossy clear coat as with the rest of the costume. the white greeblie remains white and the other greeblies remain their base colour in the crl the chest armour in its entirety remains the same as the base costume. shoulder detail and jet pack are additionally unchanged the belt and holster are unchanged as are the physical pouches. ab section is unchanged undersuit is unchanged, boots seem to be the same as the normal crl, and the gloves do not appear to be changed as can be seen in previous screen gab. holster is visibly white in all examples of the officer variant. shins are same red as the rest of the red components. boots are white, knees also appear to be red in all examples visible. thigh plates are unchanged finally the vambraces. as ive outlined in the main gallery of pics posted in a link at the top. the white on the vambraces appears to be red instead, the red lighting remains and all the detail pieces remain the same colour as the base costume. this applies to both sides as the grey details on the left gauntlet are visibly a much lighter and whiter colour than the red around it. while not great lighting one can assume that since those details are grey on the base kit, that they remain grey. the missile pod on the right seems identical. as do the mettalic elements and keypad at the front. the detail between the rocket and keypad is visibly the same colour as the missiles metallic components as can be seen here. with regard to the weaponry , i couldnt find any clear examples of them being any different to the base trooper but if im wrong and theres examples id love to see them and obviouslly thats just more to build or modify the crl. im looking forward to this journey
