  1. Thank you so much! I did some testing on a piece of plastic and found I liked the look of scoring a with a dremel and filling with gold leaf rub-n-buff. I was thinking I would just use the rub-n-buff paint to paint the larger replacement bits, but perhaps leaf would be better... I will give that a try on my test sheet.
  2. Thank you so much for your reply! I got some Dr Scholl's orthodics this weekend, and some toe-stuffers. Combined with my thick wool socks for my drysuit, they have made the boots comfortable and secure to walk in. They are a tiny bit clunky still as they are too long for my foot, but I feel confident enough to walk in them for some time now, until I can afford to get a custom pair from CrowProps. Thank you so much, again!
  3. Welp, I am back. The boots arrived today and yeah... they are a full size too big at the toe, loose at the heel and front of the ankle... the only good part is they happen to be perfect for my calves. Which indicates I couldn't go smaller if I wanted to. So, I am going to have to figure out how to make these work. Literally I can barely walk in them as they are now though. Suggestions and recommendations on how to pad them would be hugely appreciated. Especially from any women who may have run into this issue and worked it out.
  4. I am in awe of what you achieved with this build! I have a question for you if you're willing and able to share? I am building a Night Tie Pilot and have ambitions to do my own Night Trooper later. What process did you use to do the Kintsugi (Gold cover on crack joints and replacement peices)? Did you actually score the cracks into the armor a little and then fill them while just painting the areas that were replaced chips and parts? If so, what did you use for the fill? I am trying to think ahead how I will go about doing this... I'm trying to figure out the best way to mimic the look without having to actually do the fill process of Kintsugi. What you did looks amazing!
  5. Thank you all! And thanks for the discussion links too! So I'm a 7.5 to 8 US, and according to most a 39 EU. I ended up buying the 41 EU, which is the larger of the 2 8's they offer, a little bigger than the 40 their site said I should get. I mainly went with this because I did see the blurb about it on KT's website after having asked, but also when I was looking at the sizing measurements I realized I would need the larger calf, so had to size up a bit. I am now suddenly hoping I shouldn't have gone even larger. LOL I guess we shall see. ?
  6. Keep Trooping is back up until the 20th and I'm pulling together an order. I am confused about boot sizing and was hoping I could get some advice? I have several pairs of Doc Martins that are a size 39 which DM claim are a US 8. But Keep Trooping claims they are a US 7... For anyone who has bought from them, how is their sizing do you find? Should I go with what Keep Trooping are claiming is a size 8, which would be an EU 41?
  7. Awesome thank you so much! I figured a Pilot was a good place to start for me to learn kit building and modding, since it's a smaller kit. Also because I have sewing skills I might be able to use on some of the soft peices. Also, being a short, small female, it felt more natural as my first set than a Storm Trooper. Much as I do have Trooper Goals. ?
  8. I was directed to this forum as they best place to get help with my builds. I'm planning 2, and only in research phase for my second one which will be far bigger and more complex - that one IS a Trooper so this forum is indeed a great place for that. But. My first one, which I'm working on now, isn't a Trooper, it's a Tie Pilot. It doesn't look like there's any place here for other Imperial Roles aside from Trooper? If no, is there a place anyone could recommend where I could go for help and guidance on that?
  9. Hi! Pleasure to be here! I've been wanting to build a few different armor costumes over the years, but something always got in the way. Last summer I decided to make it a priority and this spring I finally hit on some serious inspiration after watching Ahsoka. Am in process of making my first R1 Tie Pilot costume and hoping to have it approved as well. This and the R1 Storm Trooper I'm planning for after will be styled for Grand Admiral Thrawn's 7th Legion remnant aboard the Chimera. I am just in awe of those designs. I'm not a member of my local Garrison yet though I have applied. Looking forward to learning everything I can and discussing ideas and build strategies with others.
