  1. I’ll tell you.. it opens your eyes to start spotting how they made a lot of the stuff on set and also how janky the RTJ version looks compared to the original due to new molds off of old armor
  2. For now I’ll keep it since they all have a perfect gap of one toothpick head and unfortunately as we all know these bad boys have nothing symmetrical about them. This project really attacks my OCD… but that’s probably a good thing! :’)
  3. I touched up the paint, there is now a toothpicks width between the gray and white plastic on all sides. Also I did my best to clean up the voicecoder. Let me know what you think!
  4. You are amazing! That was exactly what I was looking for!
  5. Thank you all for your help so far. I am looking for two things atm: 1) a good guide for assembling the belt (I want to know how far I need to cut it, where to rivet and any general dimensions). 2) is there an approved way to make the thigh pieces wider? Right now getting both sides closed is almost impossible. Maybe a bigger strip in the back? Any photos of such fixes would be greatly appreciated! Third bonus question: for the strips that seem the armor together, is there a specific width they should be? I saw a pic from someone’s post using 15mm but I haven’t seen that written anywhere.
  6. Here is the updated paint! Let me know what you think! Still trying to find a good mesh, might have to buy the one off trooperbay… Thanks again!
  7. That’s a good tip for the Hovi, do you happen to have a link to a good strainer? I used a kitchen strainer for this one. Also I’ll work on sharpening up the voicecoder. Thank you for your reply!
  8. I have finally gotten around to touching up the paint and the other helmet items. I and looking for level 3 certification. Please let me know if this could pass. Thank you! Don’t mind the armor I was just using the mannequin for a stand. pics below were taken before the rubber seal and meshes were added.
  9. Does this meet level 3 requirements? I’ve been trying to find a good mesh for the Hovi MIX. I think this is very close.
  10. Thank you for your quick reply, I’ll get that cleaned up and try and get those black lines thinner.
  11. Hey all! I got a lot of work of the paint done. I need to do a little clean up but does anyone see anything that a deal breaker for lvl 3? Thank you in advance!
  12. Thank you so much!
  13. What is the DO team? And how would I get in touch with them? Thank you
  14. would these be acceptable? I know keeptrooping is selling them now but with shipping it’s over double.. but if I have to I have to. Thank you
  15. Thank you both, I have never used mineral spirits before so I wasn’t sure if it was like nail polish remover that there are different types! I’ll get phots posted in the next few days when I get the paint finished and cleaned.
  16. Would there be acetone in mineral spirits? Or do you mean in general? I’ll check my bottle regardless!
  17. That is amazing! I will need some clean up!
  18. Here are my first stabs at paint, let me know if you see anything wrong as of yet! I still have to do a second layer of gray. Thank you again!
  19. Good idea! I’ll try and find out how to reach out to them. is that someone who would be in your local garrison?
  20. Yeah I read that before, I actually do have the large step in mine.. unfortunately I messed up one of my ears so I’m stuck with this one. So if you think it can pass I’ll start the paint! Thank you for the clarification, I guess the gaps make it look more movie accurate.
  21. Here is the left side, is this gap ok? I took off a lot of meat but it was hard getting the ear pulled to the helmet fully with the required screw placement. I tried to get the angle of it correct but if I leaned it any further the fasteners underneath would’ve been exposed.. Thank you in advance. If this looks like it could pass I’ll move onto painting!
  22. I still have the left side to do but I have updated the brow (also hopefully the rubber is long enough?). But let me know if these fixes are good enough and I’ll try and match the other ear when I get more time! Thank you again!
  23. Well that stinks.. is there a place I can buy a new one that will meet certification? Thank you for pointing it out early for me so I can get another one ordered.
  24. Thank you so much! I’ll get that trimmed and get the paint ordered! Hopefully have some more updates over the next two weeks!
  25. Is that something where I need to realign the two halves to make it higher or do I need to cut down the plastic under the rubber? Also if the number 15 paint works I’ll order that today. Thank you again for your help! also hopefully this photo coping works!
