  1. Update: I have not died nor have I forgotten about this, even though it seems like it. I’ve just been busier with the holidays and other, more pressing things than I was expecting. Also it’s difficult to work on anything substantial at my mom’s apartment since there’s not much space at all, inside or outdoors. I go back to school on Jan 14. We’re going back later than normal, so I won’t have a spring break. In other words, the next time I’ll be able to begin working on this is May... Ugh. That’s it for now, just giving a quick update with where I am irl and why this page hasn’t been updated in some time.
  2. This is definitely one of those things where it’s so what you can when you can, like you said. Trying to get as much done on the helmet before I go off back to school in like 2 weeks, bc I probably won’t get another chance until Thanksgiving. And this week has been taken up by my summer class, so yeah. I’ve started too many things and stopped them shortly after, but I will not do it with this, no matter how long it takes! Thanks for the encouragement
  3. Hey guys, update for today. I was able to cut out the tears and teeth, and file the teeth. I think they turned out pretty good! The far right one might be a hair larger than the left, but I’ll look at it again later. I started sanding the grooves in the back left trap and man is it a tight fit! Slow progress is still progress though. I wish that I could finish the left one today, but I’ve got to be somewhere in an hour, so it looks like that’s it for now. Thanks
  4. I only have enough time left today to rough cut the traps, I’ll try and finish them up tomorrow. Right and left. Thanks for the input about the sandpaper DarthBiscuit.
  5. Today I’ve cut out the other side and then filed each to be about as rectangley as I can get them. The traps are long enough to where I should be able to use that diamond wheel cutter pictured above, but it’s just barely too long to use on the tears. I might try the other cutter, I’m just afraid I’ll nick the sides way too much. That first bit I used is too large to fit in the trap/tears unfortunately. Depending on how easy the traps are or not, I might go by Home Depot tonight and see if they have any other small bits. Thanks
  6. Alright so this is the bit I used first. They didn’t have a lot of options at the Lowes near me, but I did manage to pick up a cutting bit and also the same wheel you used DarthBiscuit. After some filing, it turned out pretty good for the time I had left today. I did however nick the top of the 7th one (forgot what they’re called), so that’s not good. Not entirely sure how I’m gonna fix that, but I’ll cross that bridge, along with any other mistakes I make in this stage, when I get there. Any advice would be nice. Thanks
  7. Alright, using the Dremel tool at my dad’s today. I was gonna start on the helmet yesterday, but it was waaay too hot. Not much better today, but it’s only gonna get hotter the rest of the week, or rain. Here’s my progress so far. I’ve only done the right side. The dremel bit I’m using might be just barely too big to go through all the way on this bottom section, and definitely will be too large for the top, so off to Lowe’s to get a smaller bit and some hand files. Thanks for watching.
  8. After further consideration and reading the July newsletter, I think I will just try to go for Centurion level from the start. It will take longer than it would if I was just going for the basic approval level, and will involve a lot more work/supplies/stuff in general, but it’s going to be a long time before I’ll have the time to finish anyway, with me going back to school in about a month. So why not? I want it to be the best looking that it can be, so reach for the stars! On another note, I already have some of the supplies I need (ex: Dremel tool), but they’re at my dad’s house. The first thing I want to get to work on is the helmet, bc when I come home for Christmas break I want to be reminded of why I started this journey in the first place. So, I’ll be taking a trip up to his place this weekend. In the meantime I’m going to go get another tarp and some Scotchbrite pads tomorrow, bc turns out I didn’t have any here.
  9. Hey guys, BBB day today! Started with a phone call from Fedex saying they couldn't find my address, even though they've delivered here plenty of other times. But after a few more phone calls I got it squared away and it's here! I've opened it up and everything seems to be ok, no cracks or anything, so that's definitely a relief. Not gonna lie, I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed looking at it all, but I guess that's to be expected. I've still got to order the gloves and boots, but I was just waiting until this got here to get anything else. I'm going to get off here and go give everything a wash and try to organize my thoughts lol. I'm looking forward to this journey! It will take me a long time, I have no doubt, since I'm a college student and have just under a month before I go back until probably December. But I want to get as much done now as I can. Thank you in advance to everyone who helps me along the way!
  10. Hey all, glad to finally have gotten here. I've wanted to join for the longest time but wasn't old enough yet! And then the transition from high school to college put me back a year. But I'm here now! I've already ordered my Rogue One TK armor from Jimmiroquai and just waiting for that to come in. I'll be starting my own build thread soon because Lord knows I'll need the help XD
