  2. Welcome to FISD. Like the others have said- this is the place to learn. Take your time and do your research on the kit you are interested in. Then check out the vendors. Ask on the forums too and contact vendors as each vendor makes their kits a tad different-everyone is built different so some armor makers work better for certain bodies than others. Where they are located can make a difference on shipping too.  Immerse yourself in the forums and ask ???? Post photos of your build too so we can follow and offer encouragement and perhaps offer suggestions. For the Empire!

  3. Welcome. I'm in Central Florida as well (Makaze Squad). Join the Florida Garrison and depending on where you live of course will determine your squad but most likely it will be Makaze. Definitely post your BB day and as you progress on the build. FISD is great. Check out the build forums and videos. You tube too.  Reach out if you need something.

  6. You can trim(sand) the edges of the inner thigh. I did that and still had bite Where the cod and thigh meet and pinch. So I took the advice of another trooper and builder: buy a pair of black flip flops at the dollar store. Cut a piece about 3-4 inches long (adjust as needed) from one of them and glue to the inside of the thighs. It will keep the edge away from your skin. Problem gone. Skin saved.

  7. Shawn, great choice on armor and vendor. Dave is great with responding back and wealth of info. The helmets look good. Remember the forearms are going to be snug and when to put your hands through. They should be just large enough at the wrist for your hand through with the glove on. Also you mentioned one forearm being molded a little different -(that should be the inside part close to the elbow on the left side). yes it is and you can trim it some more if need be. At least the return edge to give you better mobility and cut don on the "bite".  I use a nylon strap (with snaps) to connect my forearms to the biceps in the rear so everything is held relatively in place.  If your going for EIB and trying for the 1st 1000, don't forget about the latex hand guards and rubber gloves. Better to get them ordered now than have to wait after everything else is done.  Keep trimming and sanding!  We need you and your son in the ranks.
