Sometimes I wonder why I torture myself. Should have left this alone. But here I am. Too late now.

The other factor that drew me to this kit was the size. Jimm built it for 5’7”-5’10”. I’m short. Only 5’6”. 850 builds specifically for taller builds. I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and do an auto shop for paint.

This thread was incredibly informative! It has also made me regret purchasing a fiberglass kit....

Great work on those tubes and teeth
Thanks! The tubes need a decent amount of putty to even them out on the bottom for the blue. But the actual filing went pretty well.

Bath time for the rest of the armor.

Looks great!
How did you start cutting it out?
I just used a dremel with a small bit and opened all the holes. Then I used diamond files and needle files and just files away. It’s going to need a lot of spot putty to fill air bubbles. But that should be easy.

Ok. I just got mine a few weeks ago. You’ve put this off long enough. Let’s finish our kits!

Update! New bucket arrived from Jimm yesterday! I’ll post pictures later. But it’s perfect. Jimm is a man of his word!

I don't know if it's the most efficient/best method, but I've just been using some Wiss snips and a dremel to trim/sand edges. It can take some time with thicker parts, but works.
This actually sounds like a good idea. Similar to using the lexan scissors on the abs. Do you use the coated scissor wiss or the utility shears?

I just received my TK from Jimmi yesterday. Also my first build. Incredibly intimidated. Haha! Reading everyone’s threads.

Question for those that have built Jimm’s R1 kit. How are you cutting the fiberglass? Just a dremel? Is it easy to sand smooth afterwards? I have to trim my thigh pieces quite a bit(I’m on 5’6”). And I don’t want to just go in and cut it up.

Yeeez...was the box damaged?
Nope.

And I am lost. The bucket is all kinds of messed up.

Well, today is BBB Day. And I’m officially intimidated and overwhelmed. Haha!

Another 5 hours. Vents are done for now. Want to add some putty to the edges to sharpen them up a bit. But that’s about it.
