  1. So while RS is responding to my emails, they aren't giving me enough details in their answers.    They sent me a sizing diagram for the sizes they need.    We measured me last night and went with the closest inch or half inch on each location.    I sent it to them and asked if that was the right way to do it (I've never heard of tailors going to the tenth of an inch).    They simply responded that they need to be my exact measurements or it will be too big for me.    Do these measurements need to be that exact down to the tenth of an inch?   What happens if you fluctuate in weight down or up a few pounds over time?

Edit:   They just emailed and said I could take measurements in centimeters if needed.

Awesome i think it should be ok for police officer status (level 2) but not for swat (level 3) which looks super hard to get haha!

One of the major differences I noticed was having a BAPTY E-11 if you want SWAT status at some point.  (there are other differences obviously, but that is one of the ones that stood out).    I wonder if you can take an E-11 from a maker like RS and convert it to BAPTY.    I might research that, or either research just building a BAPTY at some point.

Awesome, did you also grt the field pack? And which blaster did you get? I have their resin dlt19 its a beauty and also screws in half for super convienient storage!

I got the field pack, although I'm told I'll have to tweak it a little if I want to advance in rank over on mepd.     I opted for both blasters and I'm also getting two pauldrons:  orange and also black/white.

  4. Thanks Daetrin!

I knew it was orange.   Why I typed red I have no idea!   I think it's because I had a project manager blowing up my IM about food arrangements for a meeting.  :P

Thanks for the info though!   I was thinking that having only 1 guy with the orange would be more appropriate if you are in a group doing an event.    That way you have one squad leader.

My next big thing is planning out my audio.  My wife reported that there was a great looking Sandy she ran into locally, but she wasn't all that impressed with the audio.  She could hear his regular voice more than the altered audio that was supposed to make him sound authentic.

She's also really big on staying in character.   She's making sure I get into the 'stay in character' mindset even if people ask me routine questions -- do it with an in-character mindset.    She does acting around town as a hobby and is going to keep me on point on this aspect.   lol

  5. So now that I can properly post from a keyboard, let me explain my preliminary plans:

    1.  I ordered an RS Propmasters complete Sandtrooper Commission.   I have no idea how long it takes them to assemble, but I really didn't want to build from a kit for my first uniform and I wanted to try to get to trooping faster than I think I could managed to build.    My brother was always the model/builder guy in my family.  :P

    2.  I've read that even with the full commission, I will probably have to tweak it for 501st acceptance.    I couldn't find any further details on that.   What typically has to be modded or tweaked for acceptance?

    3.  I do plan to mod the bucket with fans, and audio depending on which audio I settle on.

    4.  After I get this Sandtrooper armor in and verify that I have as much fun with it as I'm pretty sure I will, I'll likely order a kit for standard Stormtrooper armor and attempt a build myself.

    Thoughts?

  6. From now one I don't want to see any posts about not being able to post without mentioning which browser you're trying with. We can't troubleshoot without a sample size.
I tried with Chrome and IE. Same result at home with Century Link. At work I'm connecting fine with Chrome. I'll try posting again from home after work.

  7. Additional troubleshooting information for whoever is working on this problem:

It's definitely a setting that messes up some ISPs.     Here is how I know:

    1.  Tried to post at home on my CenturyLink connected desktop computer:    can't post or reply.   On new posts I get that syntax error someone else posted.  On replies it just indicates a save but doesn't post.

    2.  Works on Tapatalk through my Verizon LTE connection

    3.  Works on my desktop computer at work, using the internet here in the office.

So it is somehow related to communication between the site and my home ISP.

Hope that helps!   On a related note, it is SO MUCH NICER being able to type this message at work on a keyboard rather than with my fingers on Tapatalk.

  8. Question:    Do 501st approved armors have to be accurate to a specific trooper shown in the movie, or does the armor just generally have to be up to spec?

Let me explain:    If my local 501st already has a Sandtrooper with the red pauldron (squad leader), would it be acceptable for me to purchase an extra pauldron that is a sergeant or enlisted to swap out if we do an event together without having to change out some of the other armor pieces that might go along with those?    The Sandtroopers' armor, from what I read, had different combos of shin and arm armors between the different ones that were shown in the film.   They weren't all basically the same like normal troopers.

    Additional question:

The Pauldrons that are available to purchase separately on the RS Propmaster's site are listed as Out of Stock.    When they get back to me on my order for my measurements (for my full commission), can I ask them to bill me extra and send me two Pauldrons (one red one black or white) for this purpose?

  9. I'm new too! My wife does regular cosplay at local conventions. She kept trying to get me to come with her but I really wasn't into doing anime. It dawned on me that I've always wanted Stormtooper armor.

A few days later with a bunch of research on the 501st and I have my armor ordered now!

    Welcome aboard!

  10. How do you know it's your ISP?
It's my only viable theory right now. I get some sort of syntax error trying to post a new thread. When replying to a thread it acts like it saves but doesn't post. I tried the following:

    1. Rebooting router
    2. Creating a new account completely. Same result
    3. Tried from a different computer
    4. Finally I switched over to Tapatalk on my LTE on me phone and I'm able to post from here.

  11. Hi Troopers feedback required.
I am looking at purchasing Shepparton studios ANH TK stunt armour.
These are made by the original creator of the original Stormtrooper armour for ANH.
I’m looking for feedback from anyone who owns this armour or any feedback on the attached pictures relating to approval.

I copied the following company information from the Shepparton designs web site.
    Cheers

I was also looking at that brand and saw negative posts on the forum about it. That is what made me look at RS Propmasters and Troopermaster.

RS propmasters has an original screen used suit which makes it probably the most accurate kit. You can have a look on their kits at www.rspropmasters.com

In our gallery there is a section with the original RS suite.

I think troopermaster is the most accurate fanmade kit.

So looking through the RS Propmaster's site, i'm suddenly enthralled by the Sandtrooper armor.   Is this type of armor approved by the 501st?

    Hiya,

Personally, my opinion would be that RS Prop Masters and Troopermaster are some of the nicest kits I’ve seen.

(I also love my RWA armour, BTW). :-)

After looking at both, I'm leaning a little towards Troopermaster.    I've sent him a message on facebook.   Trying to figure out how to determine pricing, waiting list, etc.
