OK... more progress during nap time.... Trimmed a little more off the cap, cut the trim, and put the 2 halves together for initial sizing. Using the screws in the ATA kit. People talk about riveting, and I guess that's necessary for higher levels, but I'm thinking about finishing it with just screws for now, so I can more easily take it apart in the future for more work, whether it's adding electronics, fans, or possibly changing to individual lenses vs the strip (I'm still not sure, even though it's a stunt helmet, I do like bubble lenses). Nobody mentioned what a pain the rear figuring out where to make the screw holes was going to be to get the face plate to look acceptable . I guess I'm more of a low-brow guy than high brow, and even though the helmets are asymmetrical, I had to have a pretty uniform distance between the eyes and trim. Both tutorials I've been following showed attaching the right side first (as you look at it, however after struggling with it for a while, I ended up attaching the left first to find the right side screw location, which seemed to be easier, as there are nowhere near as many curves to deal with. Thanks for the photo tips. I'll look into Photobucket, but I think Tapatalk may be the way to go, as I've just been using the convenience of my phone for photos, rather than digging out the big camera. <br><br> I have been using Panda troopers thread, as a guideline, and also Gaz's. My PC has a dual monitor setup, so I have Panda's on one and Gaz's on the other, so I just look and compare the two. Ponder. Look again. Do a little work. Compare. Slow moving.<br><br> Hobby Lobby is closed today, so I won't start painting til tomorrow. I guess that means I'll do the brow trim, and a preliminary joining, and ears later today. Eyeballs deep in the kids EVA Rex suit right now, but I only have the cod/butt left to cut and build on that. Still have to figure out how I'm going get it strapped on him, and sand it today, cause I have to start slapping latex on it soon. Once I hit that stage, I'll have a lot more time in between the curing times for the layers. Some unexpected work has popped up, and while money is good, I've lost 6 build days....Labor Day weekend is quickly approaching.

More slow progress. Tonight I cut out the Teeth and Eyes, and trimmed the cap. Why didn't anyone mention the pucker factor with your first "score and snap"? It worked like a charm, but I swear every time I grabbed the ABS with the pliers, I saw myself ripping the through the line and trashing the entire bulid, luckily that didn't happen. Note to self, just score once fairly deeply, trying to run the blade through the same score mark on the curved areas never seemed to be consistent, and resulted in some messy breaks, and extra clean-up but nothing too bad. The teeth and eyes, well I heeded everyone's advice, and started small, and kept removing. I've looked at other peoples', and photo reference frowns, but something just seems a little weird to me about the 4th teeth. The first times touching the rotary tool to the faceplate, made me clench up a little, but the definitely accelerated the process. Not sure if the eyes and teeth need to be opened a little more, but I'm sure you all will tell me. Hopefully, I'll get a good chunk of time tomorrow to press on. OK so I guess I can only upload 512K total... will have to see if I can delete a pic or 2 from the OP to add one or two to this one.

Thanks, so that left side cut line looks about right? It won't be as straight across as the right? Should hhave some more progress posted later for opinions on the teeth and eyes. Just wanted some affirmation on the left side of the cap (from the front ) before the butchering begins. It's hard to see the difference between the bumps that should be there, and the flashing bumps.

So here we go... Bought crappy Ebay fiberglass armor, and discovered this site whilst looking for some guidance and tutorials... Ooops shouldn't have bought that armor, too late now. Trying to make THAT work will be another thread for everyone's amusement. I tried to make up for that gaffe buy ordering an ATA helmet (Thanks Terrell, for the incredibly quick shipping). It has been suggested I start a build thread, so here it goes. I have 2 monitors for my PC. Panda's build is on one, Gaz's on the other... After about an hour and three quarters last night, with constant cross referencing, I have not only made ONE cut, the brow of the faceplate, but also made cut lines for the eyes and cap. Once the kids take their nap, and after a few deep breaths, the cutting will continue. My main concern is the line for the left side of the cap, as you look at it, the contours are a little strange. My other concern being hot in Georgia, is if the plate might have gotten warped...I know there is some asymetry, but just wondering if it is above and beyond. I set the brow trim 1.25" above the eyes with clamps and adjusted it to what looked to be level, but the right side seems to swoop down on the edges a little more than the left.
