  1. I was removing the clips I had glued into my helmet in order to install my lenses using Sugru, and I goofed up bad. I tore a small hole out of the faceplate, just below the eye. The helmet is a Troopermaster ANH Hero helmet, that is 2mm with Acrylic capped ABS.

Before I begin my repair, I wanted to ask some questions to the hive mind.

Here are my options as I see them

-I have the chunk with the missing piece still glued onto the clip. I could glue it back in place with the clip as a backing and maybe use some Novus polish to hide the edges of the hole (probably my best bet)

-Do the above, but use ABS paste to fill in the gaps around the hole, stil using Novus polish

-I could build up the area with ABS paste, gently sand it, and then use polish to help hide it

Or do any of this without using polish at all.

    Thoughts?

  2. Its a good scene, and I would be interested to watch it in context with the rest of the film, but adding depth to Phasma right before blasting her away to her presumable death seems to cheat the character and the audience. The loss of her hand is some good old Star Wars fun, but I find it more interesting that her reaction is annoyance. Is she that tough? Is it a prosthetic?

I don't think we will ever know.

  3. I got 1 can from Amazon I think. Either that or Troopermaster. The rest came in bottles. I usually shake the little buggers for 60 seconds, then when I open them, I stir them with a toothpick, about 10 ccw spins then 1 cw spin, for about three cycles of that. Never had any issues.

If its old paint there isn't much you can do about it.

  4. The flat parts on the sides should be trimmed down to accommodate your arm and no less. You definitely need enough to hold a cover strip in place. Honestly when I trimmed my forearms down for Centurion, I fit them as normal, then when they were all sized correctly and glued together, I put the wrist part down on the belt sander to get rid of the return edge. Only took a few seconds, and it gave me a nice clean edge.
