1. Hello there troopers I was just wondering where is the Shadow Trooper and or Dark Trooper (Star wars Battlefront II) forums. Is the Shadow and Dark Trooper official 501st approved Armors? I wouldnt mind making a Shadow or Dark Trooper armor set later? Im just wondering, If not? Why arent they 501st approved? Thank you for your time. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!!!

  2. Han also was a huge character in EP7. He did a fabulous job and any EP8 story with him would drown out other characters, where the focus should be on them. Carie wasn't great, I could easily bear not seeing her on film again. This will really be Rey's story arc I think - in fact looking back despite the trailers leading up to it - I don't think Finn is Force conscious.

Honestly, what stokes me are the stormtroopers - they are fantastic and we haven't seen them this aggressive and soldierly since ANH (well, there is ROTS if you include the NT).

I can agree with you on that Paul, I did find them to be more Military like and it was pretty awesome to see them act more "soldierly" like they did in A new Hope. I just like the older storm trooper armor that is all.

  3. I was just stating my unpopular opinion since the person who created the post wanted peoples opinions and that was mine. I'm not trying to be negative, I just really don't like the movie. I understand that as a member of a star wars fan club Ill hear about it, but it just wasn't a star wars movie to me and that's all.

  4. I know this is blasphemy, but I thought it was horrible and I was very disappointed. Disney and JJ just screwed the movies over and George should have never sold them, I'm going to just pretend it never existed and stick with the original 6 movies. I know several of you may disagree with me, but this is just my opinion. I didn't expect much from this movie and also the amount of ads and products I have seen with the Star Wars title have lead me disgusted with Disney, and for sure killed any hype I had for the movie. I found all of the actors to be quite poor besides Harrison Ford (Also hey Harrison ford fans, He's dead sorry (Not really), hahaha - Sincerely Disney) and older cast members and I'm just saying this so don't shoot me. I don't like the new Stormtrooper Armor nor do I like the fact that they threw out all the old Canon (I read all of the books and the fact that I knew the whole story after movie 6 and then Disney was like Hey screw you going to throw it out, really pissed me off.) I also am not a fan of JJ Abraham. I didn't like what he did with Star trek and for sure he didn't make Star wars any better, but hey Disney is like oh JJ your such a good syfy writer/director we need to hire you out of all the other possibly better Directors/writers out there who have made way better science fiction movies. Good old JJ and his lack of detail and infinite plot holes and taking everything you loved from a series and destroying it right before your eyes. Some might say It cant be worse than the prequels well I for one not only liked the prequels a lot, The prequels were gorgeous with good story and details and animations, good action and OVERALL good characters (Also I love clonetroopers), but I can say it was worse than the prequels. I still love the Star wars series, but I cant with Disney Star wars. I wont be watching Star Wars 8 & 9. This is just my opinion don't report me to Lord Vader.

  5. Great pictures, I love them and what you guys did. I was walking past a salvation army bell ringer outside of Wal-mart and after donating some money, a wal-mart employee came out and told the man he didnt have a permit, which was very unnice and dumb, since the Salvation army almost always is outside of Wal-mart on christmas. Some people are just really grumpy people and like to ruin the holidays for others.

  6. Hello 501st memebers, Im new and have been seraching around and researching my armor to create for the 501st Legion, but I cant seem to get on the Timberline Garrison fourms, I registered on there a while ago as Blackbomber200 and no one has yet approved my account. So I was wondering if any of my fellow Stormtrooper brothers or sisters at the Timberline Garrison could let someone know in the technical support area that I would like to get approved, so I can get more direct help from people directly in my region as known as the Giant State of Montana. If anyone does know anyone in the Timberline Garrison could you please direct them to the forums so I could not only meet a member of my local garrison and get some help on the tech side so I can post directly in their forums, while also making friends with someone I hope to be able to troop with (Not to say that I don't want to troop with or make friends with other troopers around the country, but Id like to get to know my future Garrison first)!!! Thank you Troopers have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!!!

  7. Hi Chris,
I have ATA armour and I'm really happy with it, I'm about 5'10" and it fits me perfectly. There are makers that are quicker, but for my situation the longish wait and the fact that Terrell doesn't request any payment up front meant I could save up slowly. Also, it gave me time to get together the soft parts. He usually has helmet kits in stock so you will have that to do later.
'Trimming' usually refers to cutting the extra parts off that come out in the mold, they are pretty easy to identify. Take it slow, look at all the reference material for each piece and try to avoid that rush of blood that seems to arrive with the big brown box. I got a little caught up in the rush of blood and ended up having to order a couple of new pieces which arrived pretty quickly.
Drilling into my armour absolutely terrified me, best approach is to mark where you want to drill with a pencil and put a photo up on your build thread to ask for advice before drilling.
Don't be afraid to ask questions (even if you think they might sound stupid), research, research, research, try not to rush, and I'm sure you will be fine!

Thanks Scott, I was afraid that my questions may have been stupid. Thank you I will continue to research!

  8. Hey there 501st members of the FISD, Ive been looking into things and I think that I will buy my kit from ATA, because they have really good armor and affordable prices (Cause I'm a trooper living off of minimum wage from the Empire, and college is expensive.) and it looks pretty good to me despite the 11-12 month wait time, but I'm patient (Not really I wish I had my armor right now before the New Star Wars Movie and Christmas) However does anyone have any better recommendations for ANH Stormtrooper armor, or am I is ATA as good as I'm going to find?

Also reading more through the forums I notice in guides they talk about trimming and stuff. Does trimming mean does trimming the armor, what does that really mean? I think it means just trimming the extra stuff off of the armor, but I'm not really sure. I'm also somewhat concerned with rivets and screwing into your armor, I still need to read up on things, but If I was to screw or put a rivet in the wrong place wouldn't that be really really bad? I know I read people say patience and taking it slow are key, but just say you make a mistake, since we all make mistakes.

Also I'm a little concerned with my height, because I fall in the category of people are going to start cracking the "Arent you a little short to be a stromtrooper?" I know this probably is not a big deal, but is there such thing as being too short, I mean I'm not that short I'm like 5'7 or 5'8ish, but would that be a problem.

Anyway that's all Ive got so Merry Christmas Troopers and have a Happy Holiday!

  9. Its an ok star wars game, but its not battlefront, The old battlefronts were the best!!!! I honestly just want to play till I get level 50 for the Shadowtrooper armor, I just wear the Default Stormtrooper, but I use to be able to dominate games with just my E-11, but alas now everyone has oped guns and Ive fallen behind so I get my butt whooped!

  10. There is almost an expected high level of anxiety with your first build given the investment most of us have made in securing our armor as well as the novelty of the build. As has been stated, taking your time and doing your research are key. I reviewed many builds and soon discovered there were recurring motifs with each aspect of the build as well as many permutations of mistakes humbly displayed online allowing perusers to take advantage of the former and avoid the latter. The complexity and sophistication of the build lie in the number of steps and parts necessary to make functional armor, but I found there was no single step that was difficult. As Tim pointed out, mistakes made are often due to impatience and carelessness given there is no part of the build that would be construed as physically challenging or necessarily intricate.

With the rich resources of the FISD, I was able to take a Troopermaster 2mm Hero kit and finish it to EIB and Centurion status (still waiting onTK boots to finish the job and submit my application) in 7 weekends with just a few hours a weekend.

I've not been around more gracious people than those on the FISD. Get started, take your time and ask questions. You'll do great!

Thanks Tom and its nice to see someone from North Carolina on the forums since I'm originally from North Carolina, The Carolina Garrison has a lot of members!!!!

  11. Excellent words of wisdom from Tim! I just finished my first build a little bit ago, and I was very fortunate to be given the same sort of advice. I would say that the most important advice is to use E6000 as Tim mentioned (I bolded it for just a touch of emphasis :P). Though I went super slow and checked these forums hundreds of times, I still managed to put a couple things in the wrong place - thankfully, E6000 is rather forgiving in that you can remove it much more easily than ABS cement or intensive super glues. On another note, never be afraid to ask questions about anything - I'm sure I speak for more than just myself when I say that I've certainly felt very lost and intimidated at times, but the folks here are nothing but helpful and motivational to help guide you down the right path.

When you mess something up, you won't ruin your kit.

I say that, because almost every build thread I've read has an "oops" moment in it somewhere. Unless you manage to somehow remove WAY too much plastic, or glue something really, really badly using CA glue so it cannot be undone, nothing you do to these kits cannot be repaired with a little bit of work.

In my blaster build, I attached the bayonet lug upside down. I had to cut it in half with a Dremel and reattach the top of it properly.

In my TK build, I attached the shin hooks to the wrong side of the shin, and had to rip them out literally twenty minutes before leaving for my first event in armor.

During my First Order TK build, I've managed to glue the replacement chest piece in upside down, using Devcon glue. I had to take a Diamond Cutting Wheel for the Dremel and cut it out of the chest so I could re-do it.

I'm allegedly appreciated as a good builder, and these are things that I've done wrong. All of them simple things that happened because I got careless, or rushed, or simply didn't pay attention for mere seconds while building. All three of them have been corrected without incident. It happens. With your first build, use E6000 and you'll have the ability to undo any mistake with very little difficulty at all.

Besides that, we've got your back, and we won't let you ruin your kit. ;)

Thank you both very much for the Advice!

  12. Hi there I'm new to the FISD and I am currently looking into building my armor and then joining the 501st!

Ive been looking through the fourms and reading up on stuff about stuff and I worry whenever I do order my kit (which I feel like Affordable Troop Armor might be a good vendor for me.) but what happens if I mess up, I could ruin my whole kit and then Id be in more trouble than any trooper who fails Vader!!!! What are some mistakes to avoid while building my armor and what are common mistakes or things to avoid, and what to do if I do mess up on something?

  14. Hey there Chris,

The differences can be seen by researching the CRLs (Costume Reference Libraries) for each of the costumes. They are primarily differences in the helmet and belt.

As for the "why" there are two different TKs, that's pretty simple.

Back before HD and home viewing, costume shops for movie productions typically made two different "versions" of many of the props that they made. The "Stunt" versions were more widely produced (typically) and were never meant to be viewed close up on screen. The "Hero" versions were made in smaller numbers, and were meant to be used for all of the close-up shots, to ensure that all of the proper details were evident and on display consistently during the movie.

Many new people think that "Hero" and "Stunt" were specific to Star Wars, and the fact that the Rebel Scum "Heroes" were wearing those helmets, but they really have nothing to do with that. ;) They're just terms from the industry.

    Thank you very much!!!

  15. Hello there, I just recently joined the FISD and I am currently looking into my Stormtrooper Uniform. The trouble Im having is I would like to make ANH Storm trooper uniform, but what are the differences between the Hero Stormtrooper and The Stunt trooper. Why are there two different Stormtroopers for the New Hope? If someone would like to tell me what the differences are, I would very much appreciate it! Thanks and have a Great Day Troopers!!!

  16. Thank you so much for your help, and I've read some of your forums and they have been very helpful, but I still need to do more research and decide who I should order a kit from, I don't have a very big budget, but would like to order a good armor kit w/o breaking the bank, and still decide between the New Hope Stunt Trooper/Hero or the Return of the Jedi. :smiley-sw013:
