  1. With my first MRCE I had a slight scratch on the top too, from when I sliced the tape off the top part of the box. I underestimated the distance from the plastic and tape to the lid.

Did you manage to fix it? If so, how?:P i havn't had time to look into repair supplies but i'm planning to this weekend

  2. Haha well either way i'd like to fix it!!! its for sure just a surface scratch but i havn't the slightest clue what to do..... never done a thing like this before and this is the first and only part of my armour in progress that i have so far so i have no experiance fixing things or anything along those lines!

Also you'll notice that with the MRCE bucket it has a clear line where the part under the frown is attached, is there any way to smooth that up in an easy way that requires no prior experiance?

  3. So today is my day off work and to be honest i was watching the new animated clone wars show on my computer with my bucket on :P but thats beside the point! i took it off to go get a snack and when i came back and looked at it on the table i noticed it has a little crack on the top!!!!! i don't think it came like that bit its kinda hard to notice unless you really look, so it may have. whats the best method for fixing this? Or should i just leave it as not many people will be looking at the top of my head anyway? personally its going to bug the crap out of me but i can live with it if its not going to get worse.

  4. I actually just got mine not even a week ago and i LOVE it, and yes you can see it....only problem is with the lenses that come standard others can see you lookin at them. It 100% needs at least something to be put inside in terms of padding because what comes on it would only work if you have an abnormally huge head. But for about $40 you can pretty well have padding and lenses sent right to you from some guys on the boards. I think its great for the price it is, but if you want something more accurate you'll have to dish out the cash and probably do some work assembling it as well (MR comes fully made and ready). Anyway thats just my opinion/experiance, best of luck dude ;)

  5. Hey, i am a fellow noob :) in fact the first part of my armor arrived just 2 days ago (my helmet, so proudly displayed in my picture :P) i suggest you go the route i did! Like you i am not too handy, but i've learned from all the tutorials and posts that if followed step by step you really can do it. What i did is get the MRCE helmet just off your local auction site ; ) and am soon looking into getting an FX lite kit. Its supposed to be fairly simple/straight forward to assemble and honestly i'd rather have something that i feel like i built myself to fit me! Plus this way you save a lot of $$ on labour and don't have to worry about it being fitted for someone else (not to mention you learn about the hobby more and more, may come in handy if you need to do any repairs). But the number one thing to remember is that no matter what you do with your armour this lovely community is behind you 100% and ready to help with anything from assembly to little tricks of the trade to give it just the right fit! But main reason for the attraction to the FX kits is they are the biggest bang for your buck if you're going for a kit thats more friendly to your wallet but still has at least some accuracy, like the MRCE helmet its not the best around but its the perfect starter set and gets you the know-how you need to either mod it or purchase a more accurate kit when you're all done!

here is a pic of the same helmet i have (its not the most accurate around but it can be modded to be pretty impressive):

and here is a link to the FX lite kit:

As for the underarmor and gloves, boots etc. you're pretty well on your own! but even just scanning the boards you'll find you can get all the info for it right here or even from some guys who will supply it to you for a few bucks.

  6. i ordered a liner from fenixprops, he said it should fit any bucket but it may just bunch up a bit, if you can wait a week or two till it arrives i can let you know how it fits

Yeah i talked to them because i was looking at the padding, they suggested i go with the liner because they were unsure if the padding would fit an MRCE. Buuut i suppose i could always get the liner and stuff things between the liner and the helmet (like socks) to make it squish right on to my head, because seriously nothing adult sized fits my head....sometimes the largest of kids do but hats never fit me, nor do sunglasses (look way too big on my head) so if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM as to how the liner holds up i may give it a look!

Also can anyone point me to a thread or to pics of DMAC's work? with all the interest you guys have in his stuff i can't ignore your advice :P

thanks for all the feedback :)

  7. So! my MRCE is on its way and i know i definitly don't want to just go with whatever padding they give me so i was just wondering what other people have tried or currently use for best fit! i've been looking into the stuff from fenixprops but they told me they make it for FX and couldn't tell me if it'd fit aN MRCE :( so it'd also be greatly appreciated if anyone knew if it does fit or can be trimmed/modded to fit (talking about the padding, not the liner) because i have a seriously tiny head and i'd like it to fit snug and tight, annnnd with the climate i am in i am not worried about heat at all :P

----------------<---- link to other thread about the "stormtrooper padding" i am interested in

  8. I'd really like to put in some kind of kickass switch anywhere (on the side with a small push switch under the rubber would be amazing) but i honestly just have no idea how to do any of that stuff :P i have no experiance with switches or putting anything like this together and i actually am still waiting on my bucket to even get here to me..... so i am kinda going for the most simple solution, but if anyone has any other resources i can use or reference i'd LOVE to try and tackle it. My biggest issue is lack of knowledge and having no clue where to purchase such things!!!

But, as always... thanks for the quick and helpful replies!!

  9. All awesome ideas but i think we are going the cheaper way of doing things. Getting the radio shack mini amp, with a little lapel mic that you can mount to the inside of the helmet. then use a cheap-ish set of kids walkie talkie that will fit inside, because we won't be that far from each other. And i guess he just gets to hear everything i say, but we were talking and we're going to just have a word or something to start and end every conversation so we know when to listen and when not to.... all of course just to get the ball moving. Maybe once i have a bit more cash and know a little more i will make an upgratde (i like the idea of that push switch) but we will see!!

Input is always welcome, and if i am heading straight into a huge mistake please feel free to let me know :P

  10. So all is being sorted out but in order to finalize everything they do the 2 small deposits of course, buuuut i checked my bank account online and i see no such deposits yet paypal says it was deposited yesterday. Is this just my bank being slow orrrr should i be worried?
