That looks better. Just curious, but did you try swapping sides with ears? I'm not familiar with FX/AM kits. Was there a clear trim line?

A long time coming I know!
Like the Barber who's too busy to get a haircut ... I finally made myself a thermal detonator!
I kind of messed up on the holster, and put the rivets where they had the belt marked ... right in the center! Oh Well.
I might order a new belt anyhow... this one is a little too small for me. I also need to trim the inside of my forearms as well.

I updated/modified the list ... At stage 10 now.

AP is probably the smallest.

Sanded out some imperfections in the paint last weekend, and gave it a second coat this Morning. Once the paint is dry... I'll wet sand it once more, polish add the hand-painted details.
Production Steps:
01. Trim and assembly
02. Seal for resin coating
03. Apply rigid foam and resin interior
04. Smooth resin surface (sanding)
05. Prime and paint helmet interior
06. Prime & paint exterior (1st Coat)
07. Wet sand exterior paint
08. Prime & paint exterior (2nd Coat)
09. Wet sand & Clear Coat (1st Coat)
10. Wet sand & Polish Clear Coat
11. Hand paint details
12. Install trim, lens, straps, foam padding
13. Prep for shipping

I was only referring to the screen used counters.
Not sure how long the WW II was in Michigan, but they were build for sure after the war in Europe ended (modernized versions were still made and sold for industrial use). ;-)
-
It was the box on the side of the stormtrooper e-11 blaster. Originally they were industrial counters made by a German company (Hengstler) during the WWII area.

Scratches just make it look more realistic anyhow. But I use Rustoleum brand on everything.

Very nice Jesse, is the ATA helmet easier to put together than an RS props kit.
Maybe ... only because the plastic is much thicker.
What do you charge? I've got an ATA ABS helmet sitting on my workbench that doesn't want to put itself together. I thought they self-assembled.
Depends on what you want done to it ... But this projects cost $150 + S&H. That includes the cost for supplies (Rigid foam, resin coat, paints, padding, straps). He supplied the kit any additional upgrades would have to be purchased and supplied to me.

Painted the exterior ... just waiting for it to dry for a few days. Then I'll start adding the details.

7 3/8" to 7 1/2" overall

plumbers putty works pretty well.

One thing I find interesting is that he has a shot of a guy wearing a suit by one maker, then a full un-trimmed kit that is made by someone else. then a 3rd photo of a finished kit that is again, by a different maker. You have three different helmets featured on that listing alone. Just seems fishy to me.

There just a lot of scammers on there. Stick to the forums and ask around. Most of us like Stormtrooper armor too, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone to talk to about this stuff. Have fun!

Hello Frank!

When it comes to armor ... almost nothing on ebay is worth perusing.

Great work!

Smoothon.com has a lot of tutorials

Can't wait to get mine.

Kool!
I worked more on it last night. As a base, I coated the inside with a rigid foam. I'll sand this down some, and give it a layer of light weight resin. Then eventual give it a coat of paint for a more finished look.
-
Hey,
I have the faceplate and cap glued together for resin coating. Started trimming the ears as well ... I'll wait to attach those when the inside is finished. But I just wanted to show some progress, and let you know that I'm working on it.
-
Nice to have. Not that I have ever screw up or anything.
Nope. ATA simply supplies 2 sets of stunt ears in case you mess up the first pair, you have a spare set.

Some plastic stretch-marks
Brilliant idea holding it together with magnets. Sometimes I remember I'm such a newb at all this!
Looks good so far. Not sure what those images of "plastic weird stuff" were showing - any explanation there?
